No police link toNelson murderTHE public inquiry into themurder o Lurgan solicitorRosemary Nelson has oundno evidence o security orcecollusion.

Ater a six-year investigationinto the 1999 booby trap bomb

attack, the inquiry teamconcluded “there is no evidenceo any act, by or within any o thestate agencies we have examined,

  which directly acilitatedRosemary Nelson’s murder”.

The report, which was madepublic yesterday aternoon, goeson to say that the possibility o a“rogue member or members” o

the security orces assisting themurderers to target Mrs Nelsoncould not be excluded.

However, the NorthernIreland Retired Police Ofcers

Association says the unendinglist o “possibilities” makes suchspeculation meaningless.

Welcoming what he called the“key fnding” o no direct RUC

involvement in the murder, aspokesman or the associationsaid: “The reerence to beingunable to exclude the possibilityo a rogue or rogue ofcers insome way assisting the murdersis rejected, however, as judicially

  valueless and unsubstantiatedconjecture.”
