Ask which letters spell the vowel sound /ou/, as in found and gown. Your child has been learning about distinguishing fact from opinion. Read a newspaper or magazine article with your child to find examples of both facts and opinions. Discuss the differences in the context of each article. Have your child read these words: grains, materials, particles, seep, substances, texture. Write sentences for these words, but leave a blank for each listed word. Have your child write the word that completes each sentence. Have your child write these spelling words: around, coil, cow, flower, gown, howl, moist, noise, out, royal, sound, toy. Together make up two-line rhymes for each word. This week your child learned about facts and opinions. Make statements about your family and ask you child to tell you which statements are facts and which are opinions. Then switch roles and have your child make up the statements and you determine if they are facts or opinions. Here are ways to help your child practice skills while having fun!
