Michael Edward SCHNEIDER and Catherine A. BRUNN:

Edward SCHNEIDER was born on September 23,1870, in Pusheta Township, Ohio. He was the second of twelve children born to Michael M. and Catherine (MESSMER) SCHNEIDER.

He married Catherine A. BRUNN on October 23,1894 in St. John’s Catholic Church in Fryburg, Ohio. Catherine A. BRUNN was born on January 6,1875 in Sidney, Ohio. She was the second of nine children born to Francis and Catherine (WARMUTH) BRUNN. Catherine A. (BRUNN) SCHNEIDER’s highest level of education completed was the eighth grade.

Michael Edward SCHNEIDER and Catherine A. (BRUNN) SCHNEIDER farmed near Botkins, Ohio (possibly his father’s farm?) - and later bought the farm on Kettlersville Road that is now Donald Brautigam’s.

Michael Edward SCHNEIDER died on September 14,1935 in a Dayton hospital, due to a concussion after falling about nine feet from a hay wagon, and landing on his head. He died two days later, according to his Death Certificate, nine days before his 65th birthday. He is buried with his wife in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Wapakoneta. Soon after her husband’s death, Catherine A. (BRUNN) SCHNEIDER moved in with her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Mary SCHNEIDER.

Catherine A. (BRUNN) SCHNEIDER died November 9,1959 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton. She had been living in Dayton, with her daughter and son-in-law, Erma and Veneard BALLWEG, for about six months. She is buried with her husband in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Wapakoneta.

Michael Edward SCHNEIDER and Catherine A. (BRUNN) SCHNEIDER had 10 children between 1895

This newspaper clipping, in the Auglaize Co. Library Obituary Files, shows how confusing genealogy can be. The age, date, & street do not match Michael E. SCHNEIDER. Could there possibly have been two Michael SCHNEIDER’s who

died from falling off a farm wagon and landing on their heads? Surprisingly - yes! This news clipping refers to Michael A. SCHNEIDER, who married Sarah Ann HARROFF. His parents were Jacob SCHNEIDER (born in Bavaria) and Hannah WERST (born in Pennsylvania). He died on October 27, 1907 after falling off a load of corn fodder on the Ed Brown farm, and landing

on his head. The two Michael Schneider’s do not appear to be related.

“VOISARD” is a French nickname variant of the word ‘vézant’, meaning ‘joyful’ or ‘happy’.

Urban Carl SCHNEIDER was born on July 26, 1895 in Botkins, the oldest of ten children of Michael Edward SCHNEIDER and Catherine A. (BRUNN) SCHNEIDER.

Urban C. SCHNEIDER and Esther M. VOISARD were married on February 23, 1916 at St. Remy Catholic Church, in Russia, Ohio. In 1920, they rented a farm in Dinsmore Township, near Botkins. In 1930, they were renting a farm in Washington Township, Auglaize County. By 1935, they bought a farm on Kettlersville Road, Moulton Township, Auglaize Co., across from his father’s farm. This is currently owned and farmed by their grandson, Patrick, and his wife, Jean (MARTIN) SCHNEIDER.

Esther M. VOISARD was born on February 2, 1897 in Russia, Ohio, the youngest of nine children of James and Adelaide (GROGEAN) VOISARD.

Urban C. SCHNEIDER was a hog and grain farmer, he also worked at Miller’s Laundry in Wapakoneta, until his retirement in 1975, (at the age of 80). In the 1940 Census, they listed the value of their farm as $1500. Esther and Urban both listed the eighth grade as their highest grade completed.

Esther M. (VOISARD) SCHNEIDER died at her home on May 31, 1977, and is buried at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Wapakoneta.

Urban C. SCHNEIDER died on December 5, 1994 at Auglaize Acres, in Wapakoneta, at 99 years of age, and is buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, beside his wife.

Urban and Esther (VOISARD) SCHNEIDER had seven children between 1916 and 1939.

More on this family is in the next Chapter: “Urban C. SCHNEIDER and

Esther M. VOISARD”.

F. SCHNEIDER was born January 27,1897, the second of ten children of Michael Edward SCHNEIDER and Catherine A. (BRUNN) SCHNEIDER.

Isidor F. SCHNEIDER served in World War One in the Wagoner Supply Company 71st Field Artillery, according to the marker by his grave. A Wagoner was the person who was in charge of the supply wagons and horses. Isidor was not necessarily the person in charge of the horses and wagons, but he was a member of that Company, which consisted of a variety of jobs.

Isidor F. SCHNEIDER married Edith A. MOSLER before 1918. Edith Anna M. MOSLER was born in Duchouquet Township on October 16,1890, the oldest of four children (all daughters) born to William and Louise M. (KOCH) MOSLER. (More information on this MOSLER family is found in the WEBB Genealogy.) In the 1940 Census, Isidor SCHNEIDER listed the eighth grade as his highest grade completed, and Edith listed the seventh grade as her highest grade completed.

Isidor F. and Edith A. (MOSLER) SCHNEIDER lived at RFD#1, (Dochouquet Township), Auglaize County, and had two children. Their farm in Duschouquet Township, was valued at $10,500 in the 1940 Census. Both the 1920 and 1930 Census’ list them as renting a farm, which they owned by 1940.

Isidor F. SCHNEIDER died December 18,1964, and Edith A. (MOSLER) SCHNEIDER died April 11,1973. They are buried together in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.

SCHNEIDER was born on March 31, 1899, the third of ten children of Michael Edward SCHNEIDER and Catherine A. (BRUNN) SCHNEIDER.

Alonzo SCHNEIDER died as an infant on December 9, 1899. His cause of death is listed as “Brain Fever”. Alonzo SCHNEIDER is buried at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Fryburg.

Auglaize County Record of Deaths, Probate Court, 1899-1938, lists Alonzo SCHNEIDER’s death in December of 1899, but does not give the day. It lists his age as 8 months and 9 days:

The Auglaize County Democrat, on December 14, 1899, shows this:

The first Saturday before December 14, 1899 was December 9, 1899. Assuming this is the correct Saturday mentioned in the Democrat, his birth date would have been March 31, 1899.

SCHNEIDER was born May 26, 1903 in Dochuquet Township, Auglaize County. He was the fifth of ten children of Michael Edward SCHNEIDER and Catherine A. (BRUNN) SCHNEIDER.

Frank SCHNEIDER married Wilma HITTEPOLE in 1928 or 1929, possibly in Kentucky. Wilma HITTEPOLE was born March 3, 1908 in Oklahoma. She was the daughter of John Franklin and Minnie (REIMAN) HITTEPOLE. (Although the 1930 Census lists her as born in Ohio, both 1920 and 1940 Census list her birth place as Oklahoma.)

Frank and Wilma (HITTEPOLE) SCHNEIDER lived in Dayton by the 1930 Census, which shows them renting a house at 262 Park Street. They did not have any children. In the 1930 and 1940 Census, Frank SCHNEIDER is listed as a tool maker for the National Cash Register Company, and Wilma SCHNEIDER is listed as a clerk at Rike-Kumier Co. (Rike’s variety store). In 1940’s Census, they owned a home at 115 Puritan Place, valued at $4500. In the 1950‘s, and until Frank’s death, they lived on West Schantz Ave. in Oakwood, Ohio. Frank SCHNEIDER’s highest level of education completed was the eighth grade and Wilma HITTEPOLE’s was the ninth grade.

Frank SCHNEIDER died at the age of 59, on June 22, 1962, at Grandview Hospital, in Dayton, Ohio.

Wilma (HITTEPOLE) SCHNEIDER died on June 18, 1990, at Lima Memorial Hospital. She lived at 518 Mossoak Drive, in Kettreing, Ohio after Frank’s death, and was possibly living in a nursing home, or with relatives in Wapakoneta, Auglaize County at the time of her death.

Frank and Wilma (HITTEPOLE) SCHNEIDER are buried together at David’s Cemetery, in Kettering, Ohio.

R. SCHNEIDER was born November 18, 1905, in Botkins, Ohio, the sixth of ten children of Michael Edward SCHNEIDER and Catherine A. (BRUNN) SCHNEIDER.

Michael R. SCHNEIDER married Marguerite (Maggie) F. SHEETER on October 26, 1935 in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Marguerite F. SHEETER was born on April 22, 1910, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Sylvester R. and Olivia K. (OMLOR) SHEETER. Michael completed the eighth grade, and Marguerite completed the ninth grade as their highest level of education.

Michael R. SCHNEIDER moved to Dayton in about 1928-29. He started working at the Standard Register Co in October 1929. In the 1930 Census, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, Michael R. SCHNEIDER is listed as a lodger in a home owned by Robert Thompson. Michael’s occupation is listed as a “Printer” for a “Register Co.” Michael R SCHNEIDER met Marguerite F. SHEETER, at the Standard Register, where she also worked.

Michael R. and Marguerite F. SCHNEIDER first lived on E. Siebenthaler Ave in Dayton. In approx. 1938 they had a home built at 2900 Earlham Dr. Dayton. It was valued at $7500 in the 1940 Census. In February 1944, Michael R. SCHNEIDER and Maggie moved on to the family farm on Kettlersville Rd, Wapakoneta.

Michael R. SCHNEIDER sold the farm in 1946, to the Brautigam’s (Donald Brautigam’s father). One family story says that one day at the Alpha Cafe, in Wapak, Michael R. SCHNEIDER was complaining about farming. Mr. Brautigam, who was looking for land, offered to buy his farm, and he immediately took him up on the offer. This caused a bit of a riff in the family, as Michael’s brother, Urban, lived right across the road, and was looking to expand his own farm, but the deal had been made.

Michael R. and Maggie SCHNEIDER then moved to a home on Benton St, Wapak, OH, and he worked as a bartender. In May 1948, they moved to 814

Broadmoor Dr. Dayton OH. Michael R. SCHNEIDER took a job again as a printing pressman, but at the Dayton Daily News, retiring from there on July 30, 1971.

In August 1991, Mike and Maggie moved to 10 Wilmington Place, Dayton OH, a senior living apartment facility. 10 Wilmington Place, used to be the old Dayton State Hospital. (See the Aulkemeier- Frankenberg-Wempe Chapter of the Aulkemeier Genealogy for more on this place.) In November 1998, they both moved to Lakeside Nursing home in Bellbrook OH, where they lived until their deaths.

Michael R. SCHNEIDER died on January 23, 1999 in Bellbrook, Ohio. Marguerite F. (SHEETER) SCHNEIDER died on February 2, 2001, in Bellbrook, Ohio. They are buried together at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.

Michael R. & Marguerite F. (SHEETER) SCHNEIDER had four children.
