PRECAUTIONS

For your safetyPlease pay special attention to the fol-lowing simple guidelines. Breaking the

rules may be dangerous or illegal.

In-car safetyDo not use your mobile phone whendriving a vehicle except from in emer-gency cases. Always park the vehicleand take the ignition before using thephone.

Interference with otherelectronicsMobile phones may interfere with othernearby electronics if these are not suffi-ciently protected from radio signals. Donot use your mobile phone near tele-phones, televisions, radios, personalcomputers, etc.

Risk of explosionDon’t use your mobile phone at petrolstations, fuel depots, chemical plants,etc. Always switch off your telephonebefore entering such areas, and observeany restrictions, regulations and rules.

Aircraft safetyThe use of mobile telephones in an air-craft may be dangerous to the operation

of the aircraft and is illegal. Switch off your mobile phone before boarding anaircraft. Before using your mobile phonenear an aircraft, consult the crew.

BlastingDon’t use your mobile phone whereblasting is in progress. Observe anyrestrictions, regulations and rules.

Medical electronicsMobile telephones may interfere withthe functionality of inadequately pro-

tected medical devices. Consult yourphysician or the manufacturer of themedical device if in doubt. Alwaysswitch off your mobile phone beforevisiting a hospital and observe the localregulations and rules.

RadiationAs with other mobile radio transmitting

equipment, users are advised that forsatisfactory operation of the equipmentand for the safety of personnel, it is re-commended that no part of the humanbody should be allowed to come tooclose to the antenna during operationof the equipment.

ChildrenA mobile telephone is not a toy. Keep

the phone in a safe place out of child-ren’s reach. Children may harm them-selves or others and they may damagethe phone.

Electrical safetyThis mobile telephone is intended foruse when supplied with power fromMA 1000, MA 1001, MA 1002,

or MA 1003 chargers. The use of anyother battery charging equipment willinvalidate any approval given to thisapparatus as well as the manufacturer’swarranty.

BatteriesBatteries may explode if incinerated.To prevent any injury or burn pleaseobserve that the battery terminals never

Insert SIM card

Before you can make a call on your mobile

phone you have to insert the SIM card.Should you have forgotten to insert the SIM cardthe telephone will ask you to do so.

Before inserting the SIM card into the phoneplease make sure that any plastic remains fromthe frame punching have been removed.

Switch off your phone and remove the battery if attached on the phone.

1. Open the SIM card holder by sliding thecatch to the left.

2. Lift the holder.

3. Insert the SIM card with its cut cornerpointing up and left.

4. Close the holder and slide the catch backinto place.

5. Insert the battery.

6. Switch on the telephone.

The phone will display a welcome greeting.

7. Enter PIN code, if requested, andconfirm by pressing OK

The telephone will now start searching for your

home network. When connection is successfullyestablished, the name of your network operatorwill be displayed.

If the telephone cannot get in touch with yourhome network it will start searching for anotherco-operating network.

If the phone cannot establish contact with anynetwork at all and you attempt to make a call, thedisplay will show please redial later.

Insert rechargeable battery

When changing the battery your phone should

always be switched off.

Charge the battery

The battery supplied with this telephone is com-pletely discharged. The telephone will initiatecharging as soon as you have inserted the chargerplug. The battery takes 1 to 5 hours to becomefully charged depending on type and size of thebattery. If for some reason the telephone does notstart charging, you should pull out the chargerplug and insert it again.

To obtain optimum battery performance in dailyuse, wait until the battery is completely dis-charged, before recharging to full capacity.

Battery level indicator

During charging the battery symbols will flash onand off one after another continuously from thebottom of the display up. When the battery is fullycharged all 4 symbols are permanently displayedas long as the phone is switched on.

4 batteries: Battery is fully charged.1- 3 batteries: Battery is partly discharged.0 batteries: Battery needs recharging. You

have limited conversation timeleft. At the same time the phonewill emit a short warning tone andthe LED on top of the phone willemit a fast red flash.

If you insert another battery, this should be fullycharged in order to read out the battery capacityaccurately.

Selection of language

The display language of your phone is normallythe national language of the country in which youpurchased your SIM card. If this is not the case thedisplay language will be English. You have theoption of choosing between different languages.

If by mistake you select a language which youdon't understand you can return to your ownlanguage by pressing the following keys:

1. Press MENU

2. Press 31

3. Select language using

4. Confirm by pressing OK

5. Press EXIT

Making your first call

1. Enter the phone number you want to call.

2. Press CALL to make the call.

3. Press END to end the call.

If you call a phone number which is diverted toanother phone number, the display will show thephone number to which you are connected andnot the one entered by you.

International calls

When making an international call, enter "+" bypressing the -key for one second and thenenter the relevant national code number beforethe telephone number (e.g. +45 for Denmark).

Phone numbers withextension number

Extension numbers can be dialled by entering apause between the main number and the exten-sion number. To enter a pause, press the -keyfor one second until the pause code P appearson the display.

Emergency calls

In most cases emergency calls can be made withor without a SIM card. To make an emergencycall without a SIM card just enter the worldwidemobile phone emergency number 112, pressSOS and confirm by pressing CALL.

Answering a call

1. Press ANSWER when the phone rings.

2. Press END to end the call.

Use the arrow keys and to increase anddecrease the speaker volume.

How to activate call divert for all calls

1. Press MENU

2. Select Network services

by pressing SELECT

3. Confirm by pressing SELECT oncemore to indicate that you want accessto the call divert menu.

CALL DIVERT

You have the option of diverting all calls orchoosing to divert incoming calls only if un-answered. The unanswered calls option diverts

calls– if you are busy– if you do not reply– if there is no contact

RegistrationTo enable a call divert you must register it first.You will be asked to specify whether you wantthe call divert function to apply to all services,

speech, data services, fax services or mes-sage services (SMS).

Deactivation/activationYou may not be able to make use of the deactiv-ate and activate options. In that case you mustcancel a call diversion by selecting Cancel.Next time you want your incoming calls diverted,select Register.

Calls can be diverted to a telephone numberstored in your phone book or to any other num-ber. Access your phone book by pressing orenter a phone number via the keypad.

If you have chosen to have all calls diverted, thecall divert indicator will be visible on thestandby display.

If you wish to suspend your calls being divertedfor a time, select Deactivate. All registra-

tions will remain in the network, so next timeyou wish to divert your calls to the same number,simply select Activate.

you can specify that a period of time must elapsebefore the call is diverted. This period can befrom 5 to 30 seconds at intervals of 5 seconds.

It is always possible to see the status of theactivated call diversions by selecting Status.Registered call diversions can be cancelledindividually or can all be cancelled at once by

selecting Cancel all.

Basic Car Kit

Remove the rubber plug covering the antenna holeon the back of the handset.

When placing the phone in the cradle, make surethat the antenna catch is open (slider in left handside position). When the phone is in place, movethe slider to the right hand side for locked position.

The cradle connects to the car’s cigar lighter plugand external antenna.

The battery will be automatically recharged asnecessary.

When your phone is switched on and placed inthe cradle, the backlighting will remain on.

An external antenna must be connected, since thehandset antenna is disconnected when the phoneis placed in the cradle.

Simple Car Holder

Using the Simple Car Holder will require a spe-cial knob to be fitted on the back of your phone.The necessary parts come with the package.

How to fit the knob:Remove the label from the back of the phone. Theknob can now be fitted by means of a screwdriver.Place the new label to cover the screw. 1

If you want to switch from handsfree mode tonormal mode, just lift the handset and cradle asone complete unit – and back again for returning

to handsfree. The switching is performed auto-matically.

GSM 909 Executive

The GSM 909 Executive is based on the combination of the GSM 909 DUAL or GSM 909 DUAL S and an Exe-cutive handset. Placed on the dashboard or in the rearof the car, the full sized ergonomic handset can be usedas a normal car phone or as a tool for handsfree conver-sation. When leaving the car you simply take your GSM909 DUAL/ DUAL S with you. Without changing theSIM card you can use the Executive handset when youare in the car and the GSM 909 DUAL/ DUAL S whenyou are out and about.

Voice controlled handsfree car kit

This car kit enables you to make calls just bysaying the name of the person you want to call.

Please refer to separate user guide supplied withthe kit.

Desktop charger

The desktop charger is powered by means of thecharger supplied with your telephone.

When you place the telephone in the desktopcharger you have to make sure that the batterysymbols on the display start flashing. The batterytakes 1 to 5 hours to become fully charged de-pending on type and size of the battery. Duringcharging the battery symbols on the display of your telephone will flash on and off one afteranother. When the battery is fully charged all4 symbols are permanently displayed.

A spare battery can be attached for charging onthe back of the desktop charger. The LED indica-tor on the front will show a red light during char-ging and a green light when the spare battery isfully charged. The indicator will be off when thereis no spare battery attached.
