    4 . Pour 1 l i t re of w ater inside the sal t cont ainer and t hen f i l l w i th sal t .

    Setting the water hardness range

    The dishw asher is equip ped w it h a w ater sof t ener d esigned t o remo ve min erals and

    salts f rom t he wat er supp ly, w hich w ould h ave a det rim ental or adverse ef f ect on t heoperat ion of t he appl iance.

    The high er th e content of t hese salts, t he harder your w ater is.

    Wat er h ardn ess is m easured in equ ivalen t scales, Germ an, French and PPM degrees.

    The sof t ener shou ld be adjust ed according t o t he hardness of t he w ater in your area.

    To ensure opti mu m regeneration of t he wat er sof t ener:

    - th e water sof tener must be adjusted to t he local water hardness;- th e d ishw asher sal t cont ainer m ust a lways be f i l led wit h special sal t .

    Your local Water Aut hori t y can advise you on t he hardness of t he w ater in yo ur area.

    To select a different level be sure that the dishwasher isoff and then proceed as follows:

    1 . Press INTENSIV 70 an d NORM AL 65 programm e push bu t t ons sim ult aneously.

    2 . While keeping t he programm e push bu t t onsINTENSIV 70 an d NORM AL 65 pressed sw it ch on t he dishw asher b y pressing t he On/Off push but ton.The On/Off indicat or l ight comes on.At th e same t im e, a lso t he indicat or l ight of t he INTENSIV 70 push but toncomes on and remains f ixed f or abou t 5 second s, aft er th is i t st arts f lashin gindicat ing t he current level of th e water sof tener.

    The current level is indicat ed by t he nu m ber of f lashes made by t heINTENSIV 70 indicator l ight , t hat a l ternat es 5 seconds of f w i th a num ber off lashes, t his fo r abou t 60 second s.

    Example:

    1 f lash = level 12 f lashes = level 23 f lashes = level 34 f lashes = level 45 f lashes = level 5

    3 . To ch ang e t he level, press t he INTENSIV 70 programm e push but to n.

    Each t im e th e push bu t t on is pressed t he level changes.Examples:

    if t he current level is 3, by pressing t he INTENSIV 70 programm e push but tonon ce, level 4 is selected ,

    If your water is level 1 it is already soft and therefore there is no need touse salt.With the setting of the water softener at level 1 the salt indicator l ighton the control panel will always remain off.

    Use salt f rom level 2 upwa rds.From level 2 upwards, if salt refilling is necessary, the salt indicator lightwill i lluminate only in sett ing mode and at the end of the washingprogramme.During the run of the programme it will remain off.

    salt container.

    2. Pour 1 l it re of wat er inside thecontainer ( t his is necessary onlybefore f i l ling with salt for the first

    time).

    3 . Using t he fu nnel provided, pour in t hesalt u nt i l t he container is f u l l .Do not wo rry i f w ater overf low s f romth e unit w hen f i l l ing w ith sal t , t h is isqui te normal.

    4 . Replace t he cap makin g sure t hatt here is no t race of salt on t he screwt hread or on t he gasket.

    5 . Screw on t he cap t ight ly.

    Wh en t his has been do ne, al l th at is required is t o periodically to p up t he cont ainerw ith sal t . You are remin ded of t h is by t he sal t cont ainer indicator l igh t on t hecontro l panel w hich comes on w hen t he sal t h as run out .

    The salt indicator l ight on t he control panel can remain il luminated f or 2 - 6hours after the salt has been replenished, assuming the dishwasher remainsswit ched on. If you are using salt s t hat t ake longer t o dissolve t hen t his cant ake longer. The f unction of t he machine is not af fected.

    Filling with special saltCaution! The packagin g of dishw asher salt and d etergent s are of t en very sim ilar. Theaccident al f i l l ing of t he sal t compartm ent w ith detergent w ould ru in t he watersof t ener. Each t im e you add salt, make sure t he carton you have in you r h and reallyis salt.

    Only use salt specifically designed for use in dishwashers.All other types of salt not specifically designed for use in a dishwasher,especially table salt, will damage the water softener.Only fill with salt just before starting one of the complete washingprogrammes. This will prevent any grains of salt or salty water, whichmay have been spilled, remaining on the bottom of the machine for

    any period of time, which may cause corrosion.

    Rinse aid

    Rinse aid is aut om atically added dur ing t he last r inse, ensurin g t horou gh rinsing, andspot and streak f ree dryi ng . The dispenser, w hich is posit ion ed inside th e door, ho ldsabout 110 ml of r inse aid, w hich is suf f icient f or 16 - 40 dishw ashin g programm es,dependin g upo n t he dosage sett ing.

    anticlockwise.

    2 . Add t he r inse aid unt i l t he cont ainer iscomplete ly fu l l .

    The ind icat or (B) wil l be complet ely dark.3 . Top u p t he rin se aid w hen t he rin se aidindicator l igh t on th e contro l paneli l luminates.

    If rinse a id ref illing is necessary, the r inseaid indicator light will illuminate only insett ing mode and at t he end of t he washingprogramme.During the run of the programme it willremain off .

    Ensure t hat t he lid is closed af t er everyrefill.

    Do not put l iquid detergent in t he r inse aidcompartment. Clean up any rinse aid spiltdur ing f i l l ing wit h an absorbent c loth t o avoid

    excess f oamin g du ring t he next w ash.

    Adjusting the doseAccording t o t he f in ish and drying result sobt ained, adjust t he dose of r inse aid bym eans of t he 6 posit ion select or (C) (posit ion 1min imu m dosage, posi t ion 6 m aximumdosage).

    Increase th e dose if t here are drops of w ater orl im e spot s on t he dishes aft er w ashin g.Reduce it if t here are st icky w hi t ish st reaks onthe dishes.

    Loading cutlery and dishes

    Spon ges, hou sehold clot hs and any object t hat can absorb w ater m ay not bew ashed in t he dishw asher.

    For washing in the dishwasher the following cutlery/dishes

    are not suit able:

    q Cutlery with wooden, horn, china or

    mother of pearl handles.

    q Plast ic items th at are not heat resista nt .

    q Older cutlery with cement that is not

    temperature resistant.

    q Bonded cut lery it ems or dishes.

    q Pewter or copper items.

    q Lead crystal glass.

    q Steel items subject to rusting.

    q Wooden platters.

    q It ems made from synthet ic fibres.

    q Only wash stoneware in the dishwasher

    if it is specifically marked as being

    dishwasher- saf e by the man uf acturer.

    q Glazed patterns may fade if machine

    washed frequently.

    q Silver and aluminium part s have a

    tendency to discolour during washing.Left - overs, e.g. egg whit e, egg yolk andmustard often cause discolouring and

    staining on silver. Therefore always

    clean lef t- overs from silver im mediat ely,if it is not to be washed straight after

    use.

    q Some t ypes of glass can become dull

    after a large number of washes.

    The lower basket

    The lo w er basket is design ed t o t ake saucepan s, lid s, pl at es, salad b ow ls, cut lery et c.

    Serving dishes and larg e lids sho uld be arranged aroun d t he edge of t he basket,

    ensurin g t hat t he upper spray arm can t urn f reely.

    The t w o rear rows of p rongs on t he low er basket can be easily low ered t o al low yout o load p ot s, pans and bo w ls.

    To ensure th at t he cut lery basket cannot open w henremoved from t he appliance always hold bot hparts of t he tw o part handle.

    1 . Place t he cut lery basket on a tabl e orw ork surf ace.

    2 . Open t he tw o part h andle.

    3 . Remove the cutlery.

    4 . Close the t w o part handle.

    Cut lery basket

    Long bladed knives st ored in an u pright position a re a pot ent ialhazard.

    Long and/or sharp items of cutlery such as carving knives must bepositioned h orizont ally in t he upper basket .Take care when loading or unloading sharp items such as knives.

    The upper basket

    Arrange i tems on and un derneath th e fo ld-dow n cup racks so t hat w ater can reach all sur f aces.

    Ligh t it ems (plast ic bow ls etc.) sho uld be loaded in t he up per basket an d arrang ed soth ey do not m ove.

    In case that plates are loaded in theupper basket:load th em start ing f rom t he rear posi t ion s of

    t he basket , t i l t ing t hem forw ards and

    avoiding th e f ront posi t ions near t he door.

    Adjust ing the height of t he upper basket

    I f w ashin g very large plates (over 27 cm and up t o 32 cm in di ameter) you can loadt hem in th e lower basket af t er moving t he upper basket t o t he h igher posi t ion .

    To m ove to t he h igher position proceed asfollows:

    1 . M ove th e f ront runn er sto ps (A) of t heupper basket outward and slide the basketou t .

    2 . Refit t he basket in t he higher posit ion andreplace the st ops (A) in t heir or iginal

    posit ion.

    W hen t he t op basket is in the higher position it will only t ake plat es up to 2 0cm in diameter and you will not be able to use the cup racks.

    After loading your machine always close the door, as an open door canbe a hazard.

    Remember tha t insuf ficient quant ities of detergent will produce poorwashing results whereas an excessive amount of detergent does notimprove washing results and is also wasteful.

    Compact detergents with enzymes
