Dear colleagues

The fourth NeuroSpine Meeting, the advanced course of the Swiss Society of Neurosurgery SSNS, will be held at the Kursaal in Bern on March 27, 2014 and is supported by the Swiss Spine Institute and Swiss Society for Spinal Surgery (SGS).

This year, the workshop is dedicated to the field of degenerative scoliosis. Treatment options are based on clinical and radiographic analysis of the mechanical stability of the deformity, given pain generators, and necessary sagittal balance. Besides the conservative options, MIS techniques have been implemented in the treatment over the last decades and continue to evolve, becoming less invasive. However controversy remains over the role of surgical interventions which have their own set of challenges and complications. The organizers are convinced that the briliant speakers will stimulate a vivid discussion that will deepen our understanding of the management of degenerative scoliosis and will help to clarify how to choose the best treatment approach for each patient.

The scientific committee did not spare any effort to organize an attractive, interdisciplinary program, which should catch the attention of neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons with a strong interest in spine surgery, but also of anesthesiologists, neurologists, rheumatologists, interventional radiologists, chiro-practitioners and physiotherapists.

We look forward to welcoming you to Bern.Sincerely yours,

Professor Adrian Merlo, MDPresident scientific committeePast President SSNS
