Arts Jam Extravaganza 2008 「藝趣無窮」20082008年11月15日(星期六)，弘立書院首次舉辦「藝趣無窮」同樂日籌款活動，並在本校正式拉開「雄心萬丈」籌款活動的序幕。活動取得圓滿成功並達到我們的籌款目標，共籌得港幣315萬元。活動當天進行了豐富有趣並適合全家參與的遊戲和活動，還有學校樂隊即場演奏美妙的音樂。精彩紛陳的學生藝術作品裝點了整個學校，人人都盡興而歸。

The Aspire Campaign will raise funds for capital construction, student and professionaldevelopment programs, scholarships and financial aid.

The Signature Handprint Tiles was the busiest and most popular activity as dozens ofpeople clustered around the booth to make their own tile which will be displayedpermanently on the school campus.

of collaborative artwork which were successfully auctioned off that day.One of the artworks auctioned off was by the actor Mr. Daniel Wu, whosenephews and niece attend the school. To show his support, he donated acanvas artwork he had painted especially for our event. Total proceedsraised from the art auction was HK$107,561.

小學學生在老師的指導下創作了36幅集體藝術作品，並全部得以拍賣。其中吳彥先生成功投得一件作品。而他本人也捐贈了一幅由他親自繪畫的油畫供拍賣。吳先生的侄子侄女均在我校就讀。當天的拍賣活動為我們籌得共港幣拍賣吳先生的侄子侄女均在我校就讀當天的拍賣活動為我們籌得共港幣107,561元。

Our Lucky Draw was another huge success and raised amost respectable HK$642,346. We would like to thank allour students, parents, teachers and staff who wereenthusiastic about helping the school and who sold allthese tickets.

On December 5, 2008, our Principal Ms Shirley Lee gathered with wellknown bicultural experts at the school in a cross cultural exchange forum.

2008年12月5日，李小麗總校長與多位知名的跨文化專家們進行了一場有關融滙中西文化的硏討會。

Present were Professor Leo Lee Ou Fan, Professor of Chinese Literatureand History at the Chinese University of Hong Kong; Mr Frederick Mao JunFai, Director of Drama and now Acting as the Artistic Director of HongKong Repertory Theater, Mr Chu Piu Hing, former head of RTHK and MrHenry Steiner, international renowned Graphic Designer, famous for hisdesign of the Hong Kong Dollar Note and HSBC logo.

Chairing the forum was Mr Edwin Kong, Executive Director of EDKO FilmsLimited a well-established local and foreign film distributor and Producer

Experts in their own fields, the participants were fascinated at how The ISFAcademy brought together the east and west to bring out the best in ourstudents. Much of the discussion focused on how western and easterncultures affect each other and how this is imported to our students.

They exchanged ideas and viewpoints on how some subjects may be

Visit from EDB and Eight Uni ersities 八所大學及教育局探訪本校Visit from EDB and Eight Universities 八所大學及教育局探訪本校Curriculum Development Officers from eight universities andschools visited The ISF Academy on Tuesday, November 20,2008 to learn more about our Primary Curriculum. Leadingthe delegation was Ms. Chan Yeung Ming, the Senior Officerfor Primary Curriculum Development of the EducationBureau.

During the meeting, our Primary Division Head, Ms. MabelLeung, briefed the visitors on the educational philosophy ofThe ISF Academy and our Chinese Subject Head, Ms. Cui JinDi, introduced the integrated nature of our Chinese subjectsacross the same grade. Teachers Ms Eris Au Yeung, Ms MuiSiu Ha and Ms Pun Fan also shared their experience honingour students’ research skills in our Guided Discovery classesas well the integration of our Guided Discovery and Chineselclasses.

Ms. Chan from the EDB thanked the school for sharing its philosophy and curriculum with all the visitors as well as providingthe platform for the exchange of views.

2008年11月20日(星期二)，香港教育局小學校本課程發展組高級學校發展主任陳陽明女士及八所大學的課程發展主任來到弘立書院小學部，就課程發展進行交流。

交流會上，小學部梁慧芬校長介紹了學校的教學理念，中文科學科組長崔金弟老師介紹了本校跨學科的中文課程整體設計思路，歐陽秀紅老師、梅小霞老師和潘璠老師分享了小學各年級在探索課上如何進行專題研習，中文科和探索科又是如何進行課程統整的相關經驗。

教育局的高級學校發展主任陳陽明女士認為此次訪問活動令其他學校的老師開闊了視野，取得了相關的經驗，感謝弘立書院的校長和老師們提供的這次難得的交流學習機會

The ISF Academy Putonghua and English Read-A-Loud Competitions 弘立書院普通話、英文朗誦比賽

With the completion of the Read A Loud Festival, the Primary Division held twocontests, namely the First ISF Academy Putonghua Read-A-Loud Competition andthe First ISF Academy English Read-A-Loud Competition. The best orators inChinese and English in each class were selected to participate in the competition.Participants were given the opportunity to perform in front of an audience of morethan 600 students and parents in the S.K. & Margaret Wong Gymnasium and for theirfellow students to appreciate their oratory skills. Parents were very impressed andcongratulations to all the participants were the order of the day.

We sincerely express our thanks to school for organizing the competition, to teachersfor their efforts, to committee members for the arrangements, to the judges and allthe staff in Sodexho, the IT Department, the Primary office and all the parents andstudents.

繼各班級“朗誦節＂活動之後，小學部連續舉辦了兩場“弘立書院第一屆普繼各班級朗誦節活動之後，小學部連續舉辦了兩場弘立書院第一屆普通話、英文朗誦比賽＂。本次比賽我們只設了個人項目，每班推舉了中、英文各一名代表參賽。此次比賽令學生們有機會在超過600名學生和家長的面前展示和鍛煉口才。我們看到許多同學都表現得十分出色，受到家長們的一致稱讚。

Guided Discovery “The Wonderful World” 探索科「奇妙世界」Guided Discovery The Wonderful World 探索科奇妙世界」Grade 1 Pet Show on Friday, October 31, 2008

Complementing our Chinese Guided Discovery Unit of “The WonderfulWorld”, teachers invited the HK SPCA to conduct a presentation on “Beinga Responsible Pet Owner” at The S.K. & Margaret WongGymnasium. The key message was that the decision to adopt a pet couldnot be made lightly and that prospective pet owners needed to understandall the responsibilities of owning and caring for a pet. To add a morepersonal touch, around 20 students brought their pets to school that day.Students had the opportunity to meet and interact with nine dogs, sixtortoises, two fishes, five hamsters, one beetle, one cat and one rabbit fora total of 25 animals. All the students who do not have pets agreed that itwas a most eye-opening experience.

配合一年級中文探索科第二單元「奇妙世界」的學習，老師們安排了香港愛護動物協會來校禮堂舉行講座。講座以「做一個負責任的小主人」為題，向孩子們說明飼養寵物前應該考慮的事項和飼養寵物應負的責任；為了讓孩子們對單元主題興趣更濃厚，當天有二十幾個小朋友也帶自己的寵物回學校，包括：九隻狗、六隻龜、兩條魚、五隻倉鼠、一隻甲蟲、一隻貓和一隻兔子，共二十五隻動物。其他沒有養寵物的學生們一致認為是次活動是一次最好的開闊眼界

Camp offered by The Hong Kong Federation of Youth GroupsJockey Club LEAD Centre. Located in Cyberport, this roboticsbased camp was offered as part of The ISF AcademyTechnology curriculum. Students were accompanied byTechnology teacher, Mr. Luc Crowther, and spent two full daysworking closely with a team of LEAD instructors. Theinstructors helped train students to use a variety of tools andmaterials to support their original projects. Students designedand created original work and were able to demonstrate their

2008年12月2日及9日，全體六年級學生應邀參加香港青年協會賽馬會創意科藝中心舉辦的創意科藝工程計劃日營活動。活動以智能機械人爲基礎，爲期兩天在數碼港舉行，是弘立書院科

技課程的一部分。學生們由科技老師Luc Crowther帶領，與創意科藝工程計劃的指導人員一起度過了難忘的兩天。指導人員協助訓練學生通過使用各種工具和物料去製作他們的構思。學生們親自設計作品，並在日營結束時展示他們的創作。

The Secondary Division Sports Day was held on Monday, November 24, 2008 at Aberdeen Sports Ground.中學部運動會已於2008年11月24日(星期一)到香港仔運動場許舉行。

Monday, November 24, 2008 was a day that all secondarystudents from The ISF Academy looked forward to. Why?Because it was the Secondary Sports Day! We competedin a variety of events that included hurdling, running, highjump, long jump, etc. Students from Earth, Wood, Fire,Water and Metal Houses wore T-shirts in their housecolors to show support for their house and were mostcolors to show support for their house and were mostenthusiastic in their cheers. As friendly competition ensued,house members cheered excitedly for their athletes;shouting slogans and house mottos. What spirit ourstudents showed! After a close match, Fire House wonwith a total of 369 points. Congratulations to Fire housemembers! All other houses did a great job and we allenjoyed a great day at the Aberdeen Sports Ground.

冬天到了，冷風吹遍了大地，然而我們弘書院的同學的心卻是熱血沸騰的。在2008年11月24日(星期一)這一天，我們舉行了中學部的運動會，那天陽光普照，一股股溫暖的陽光照耀着大地，在這種舒適的環境中，我們進行了一場又一場激烈而充滿着友誼的比賽：跑步、跨欄、跳高等等，一滴滴經過努力的鍛煉而產生的汗水滴在了地上，金木水火土各個社屋都積極的為自己的健兒打氣，運動員的名字以及口號充斥着整個運動場，大家都顯得非常積極和快樂。經過一輪激戰以後，火社屋以369 分最終奪得了冠軍，大家都為他們歡呼，而這次的運動會最後則在快樂的笑聲、鼓掌聲中結束！

2008年11月22日(星期六)真的是一個令我非常期待的日子我這樣說是因為美國的NBA (全美籃球協會) 的教練來學校教我2008年11月22日(星期六)真的是一個令我非常期待的日子, 我這樣說是因為美國的NBA (全美籃球協會) 的教練來學校教我們打籃球, 當我在8:23的時候到了學校, 我已經很興奮, 走進禮堂後, 就拿起一個籃球開始射了, 射了一會兒, 馬老師就叫我們集合。集合後, 我們終於看到那一些教練了, 那裡有兩個女教練和四個男教練, 然後他們就自我介紹, 我們就開始熱身, 熱身後, 他們就開始教我們傳球, 射球, 等等. 12:00的時候, 我們去了員工休息室(中學部) 那裡吃午飯, 12:00就繼續打球。到了2:00, 我們正式解散, 離開的時候我覺得今天獲益良多。

Grade 1 students visited the Hong Kong Botanical and Zoological Gardens on Thursday and Wednesday, November 6 and12, 2008, to observe animals and in particular to note their facial features and how the level of sophistication of their fivesenses was dependent on their habitat, their social structure and their size.

一年級學生分別於2008年11月6日和12日(星期四和星期三)參觀香港動植物公園。他們觀察動物，特別是它們的面部特徵，還有它們的棲息地、社群結構及體積如主宰它們五感的精巧度。

Grade 3 Students Visit to Ocean Park

Our Grade 3 students visited the Ocean Park Academy on Thursday, November 13, 2008to complement the second unit of their Chinese Guided Discovery Lessons. Fiveteachers and ten parent volunteers were invited to participate in the Green Wonderscourse with students. Students were very excited that day as this was their first field tripto Ocean Park this year.

The activity was divided into two sections. In the first part, an Ocean Park instructorbrought over ten foods commonly found in a supermarket and had the students thinkwhich part of a plant these foods came from. Though this activity, students learnt thedifferent parts of a plant and the importance of their functions in the natural world.

In the second part of the activity, students were taught how to plant the herb Hypericumperforatu, commonly known as St. John’s Wort. First, they placed a small amount of soilin the flower pot then they showed us how to transplant the seedling with additionalin the flower pot, then they showed us how to transplant the seedling with additionalamounts of soil, how to water the plant and viola, a hypericum perforatu was planted!Students were very excited to bring their plant home.

為配合三年級中文探索科第二單元課程，我們於2008年11月13日邀請了五位老師和十位家長義工，分兩次和同學前往海洋公園，參加

「植物的奧妙」課程。參觀那天同學們都非常興奮，因為這是他們升上三年級以來，第一次到海洋公園參觀呢！

當天活動分為兩個部分，在進行第一部分活動時，海洋公園的老師拿出十幾項在超級市場買到的食物，要我們猜這些食物是從植物的根、莖、葉、果實，還是整棵植物製造而成的。通過這項活動，學生們都學習到這些食物所屬的植物部分，也認識到植物各部份的功用和在自然界的重要性。

在第二部分的活動裏，海洋公園的老師教我們如何移苗。他們首先在海棠苗的盆栽裏加入適量的泥土，然後給我們展示如何用多餘的泥土移苗，並讓一些同學幫栽種好的苗種澆水，最後還把我們自己親手栽種的紫羅蘭帶回家呢！這次的校外研習的收獲可真是豐富啊！

堂參觀學習我們班先去種植物海棠首先，我們在盆子的外面寫我們的名字、日期和植物名，接著就放一些泥土在盆底，然後把海棠苗放在盆中間，再在周圍加上泥土。最後我們向小海棠澆水，老師還教我們在家裏怎樣照顧它：每天給小苗澆水，還要每兩個星期施肥。完成種植後，我們到植物學堂學習植物的知識。老師給我們看了許多物品，要我們想想這些物品是由植物的哪些部位做成的。例如：書本由植物的莖做成，茶葉由葉子做成，其中有一個乾了的植物是冬瓜的中間部分，可以用它來洗碗。

我們都覺得這次戶外教學活動生動有趣，不但學到了植物知識，而且親手種植，很值得去。

Parent Workshop on “Creative Therapies for Enhancing Parent-Child Relationship”Parent Workshop on Creative Therapies for Enhancing Parent Child RelationshipOn Tuesday, November 25, 2008 the Counseling Team held a parentworkshop on why and how creative therapies could help fostercommunication and understanding between parents and children. Parentshad a fun time role-playing child-directed play with a variety of toys. Theyalso got to mimic each other’s body gestures. The focus of that morning’sexperience was to learn “to be” or “to stay” with the child. It was arefreshing experience for all.

Throughout the workshop, parents raised a lot of interesting questions onparenting and communication skills. We really wished more parents couldjoin our discussions and share effective practices! We look forward tomeeting more of you in our next parent workshop. Stay tuned!

“創意治療改善親子關係”家長工作坊創意治療—改善親子關係家長工作坊

輔導組於2008年11月25日（星期二）舉辦了一個家長工作坊，與大家分享創意治療能夠如何改善親子關係，和家長該如何運用有關技巧促進與孩子的溝通和理解。當天參加的家長都有機會嘗試利用不同的玩具進行由孩子領導的遊戲模式，並互相模仿各種身體動作，目的在於學習如何與孩子“同在”。當天的經驗實在是令人耳目一新並且非常寶貴。

家長們在工作坊上提出了很多有趣的有關家教和溝通技巧的問題，我們希望家長們在工作坊上提出了很多有趣的有關家教和溝通技巧的問題我們希望能有更多家長參與我們的討論並分享經驗！我們期待在下一次的家長工作坊上與更多家長見面，請留意我們往後的活動！

Secondary Coffee Mornings 中學部咖啡早會

Ms. Sheila, the Secondary Division Head, hosted a Secondary Coffee Morning from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. onWednesday, November 26, 2008. It followed the MYP Workshop hosted by Mr. Andrew McHugh. The session used aquestion and answer format for parents who asked for information relating to time allocations for subjects, the IB-MYP, theIB Diploma Program, the Winter Carnival, and our Student Development Program. When parents were informed of anevening planned for December 10 relating to Secondary and Beyond for the parents and students of Grade 8 and 9, theyrequested a similar session for parents with younger students. In response, the Secondary Coffee Morning on Thursday,January 8 2009 will focus on Secondary and Beyond informationJanuary 8, 2009 will focus on Secondary and Beyond information.

Secondary School and Beyond 中學及大學信息On Wednesday, December 10, 2008, over 150 people attended an evening for parents andstudents of our Grade 8 and 9 students. Mr. Andrew McHugh, Ms Patty Lee, Mr. DonaldHolder and Ms Sheila Klein hosted the session. It was an informal Question and AnswerSession that focused on two central questions:
