Nicht gross sondern richtig - das war immer der Grundsatz unserer FSM Philosophie. Keine Orientierung an modischen Strömungen, vielmehr das Festhalten am Wesentlichen. Wir entwickeln Sitzmöbel, die mehr können als gut aussehen. In fast jedem Produkt steckt eine kleine technische Sensation, welche über das Design hinaus einen Beitrag zum Komfort leistet. The FSM philosophy has always been based on the principle of quality before quantity. Never bowing to the whims of ephemeral fashion, we have always held on to solid and lasting values. Bequem sitzen und schön aussehen. Claro kann beides. Unter der geradlinigen Form steckt jede Menge Entspannung. Ob als Sofa, Recamiere, Anbauprogramm oder Einzelsessel. Automatisch herausfahrbare Fussauflagen, hochschwenkbare Kopfstützen sowie verstell- bare Rückenlehnen bieten höchsten Komfort.
Sit snugly and look good. Claro does both. Its minimallinear design offers a wealth of hidden comfort: as sofa, recamière, modular programme or individual armchair. With automatically extending legrest, fold-up headrest system and adjustable back, it provides the tops in cosy relaxation.

Mit Ökodesign wird versucht, die Umweltbelastung eines Produktes zu minimieren. Die Lebensphasen eines Polstermöbels umfassen die Herstellung der Materialien, die Produktion des Polstermöbels, die Gebrauchsphase sowie die Entsorgung. Ökodesign konzentriert sich generell auf Aspekte wie Langlebigkeit des Produkts, insbesondere aber auf die eingesetzten Materialien. Denn die größte Umweltbe-lastung von Polstermöbeln entsteht nicht während der Gebrauchsphase (wie z.B. bei Haushaltgeräten), sondern bei der Produktion der Ausgangsmaterialien wie Leder und Schaumstoff. Die Ökodesign-Checkliste wird für Produktentwicklungen eingesetzt und erstreckt sich auf Eigenfertigungsteile, eingekaufte Teile und Produktionsverfahren. So erfolgt z.B. die Färbung der FSM-Leder ausschliesslich in wässrigen Systemen, frei von Lösungsmitteln. FSM verarbeitet seit 1985 chromreduzierte und lösungsmittelfreie Leder, die die deutschen Umweltnormen weit übertreffen.
Gestelle:Die Stahlkonstruktionen sind unbehandelt und voll-ständig recycelbar.
Polsterung:Der verwendete Polyurethanschaum ist mit Wasser-dampf geschäumt und FCKW-frei.
Klebstoffe:Ein erheblicher Anteil der eingesetzten Klebstoffe ist auf wasserlösliche Basis. Für technisch schwierige Verklebungen werden lösungsmittelreduzierte Kleber verwendet.
Mechaniken:Alle beweglichen Teile sind verschraubt und leicht austauschbar.
Verschleissteile:Alle Verschleissteile (z.B. Gasdruckfeder) sind leicht austauschbar.
Eco-design attempts to minimise the environmental strain created by products. The phases in the life of a piece of upholstered furniture range from the manufacturer of its materials to the production of the upholstered furniture, the phase during which it is used and its disposal. Eco-design generally concen-trates on aspects such as the durability of products and in particular on the materials used to produce them. Because the greatest environmental strain created by upholstered furniture does not arise during the phase in which it is used (as is the case with household appliances, for example), but rather in the production of its base materials, such as leather and foamed material. The eco-design checklist is used for product developments and covers parts manu-factured in-house, purchased parts and production methods. Thus, FSM leather is only dyed in aqueous systems free of solvents. Since 1985 FSM has carried out processing in a chrome-reduced manner, using solvent-free leather, which by far exceeds German environmental standards.
Frames:These steel constructions are untreated and entirely recyclable.
Upholstery:The polyurethane foam used is foamed with water vapour and is CFC-free.
Adhesives:A substantial proportion of the adhesives we use have been changed over to a water-soluble basis. Solvent-reduced adhesives are used for technically difficult gluing.
Mechanics:All moving parts are screwed together and easy to replace.
Wearing parts:All wearing parts (such as gas pressure springs) are easy to replace.
