3. Starting the unit and handling

Note : We recommend using our microfilter mounting kit in additionto the paper filter bag (Order no. see 4. Accessories). BIA categoryC, Filtration efficiency always higher than 99.9%. It allows particu-larly fine dusts to be sucked off which are damaging to health. Themicro filter should be changed when the suction performance isinsufficient even after new paper filter bags have been fitted.

3.1 Connect the upper section of the vacuumcleaner to the brush head

Unscrew both fastening screws from the upper section of thevacuum cleaner before assembly.

Push the upper section of the vacuum cleaner upright onto thebrush head. Then insert the two aluminium sections into thegrooves provided on the upper section of the vacuum cleaner.Fasten with screws. Tighten screws firmly. <Figure 2>

Connect the hose to the brush head and upper section of vacuumcleaner. Plug the connecting cable with connector into the socketon the upper section (plug must audibly click into place). <Figure 3>

3.2 Storing and removing cableThe vacuum cleaner’s power cable can be wounded up aroundthe upper and lower cable clips. The entire cable can be easilyremoved by turning the lower cable clip.

3.3 On and off positionsThe brush head has a pivot latch which locks the unit in theupright off position. To operate, tread on the latched pedal andtip the vacuum cleaner backwards. <Figure 4>

Caution : do not drive the rotating brushes over the connectingcable. Carry the unit over steps and high thresholds.

3.4 Working with the hand pipe <Figure 5>Switch the unit on via the ON/OFF switch

Please note : The carpet brush switches on automatically oncethe hand pipe with handle is firmly located in the motor housing.Please check.

If the hand pipe with handle is pulled out of the motor housingfor vacuuming, the carpet brush switches off automatically.

The suction hose’s elasticity means that the effective workingradius can be increased.

The crevice and upholstery nozzle can be attached to the endof hand pipe.

Important: Never use the hand pipe for vacuuming without firstattaching either the crevice nozzle or the upholstery nozzle (thecleaner will malfunction if the end of the hand pipe is worn down– see Section 6 for Troubleshooting).

The hand pipe is pushed upright into the motor housing.

3.5 Adjusting the carpet brushThe carpet brush can be adjusted to match the height of the pile.To do this, set the vacuum cleaner to the working position(approx. 45º) and select the required setting between 1 and 4.<Figure 6>

Note: The brush cannot be adjusted when the cleaner is in theupright position

3.6 Electronic brush monitoringBrush functioning is continuously supervised by electronicbrush monitoring.

orange light on even at the lowest setting:change brush strip.

3.7 Red indicator lightIf the indicator light is on, please check the following:

a) is the filter bag full?

b) is the suction hose or connecting hose blocked?

Either exchange the filter bag or eliminate blockages.

Please note : There is no malfunction if, when vacuuming with thesuction hose, the hand pipe occludes and as a result the light comes on.

5. Care and maintenance

5.1 Exchanging the paper filter bag <Figure 7>• Depress the cover fastener and remove cover.

• Push the filter bag catch to the left until it is possible to pull thefilter bag off the connection piece.

Assembly:

• Insert the narrow end of the support card into the holder.

• Push the filter bag catch to the left and guide the support cardupwards over the connection piece until it slots in.

• Replace the cover.

Please note : If the cover does not close, check whether the filterbag has been inserted properly.

5.2 Exchanging the safety filter <Figure 8>

After exchanging the filter bag approximately 20 times, exchangesafety filter.

• Press cover fastener and remove cover.

• Lift the red locking device and pull out the safety filter.

Assembly:

• Lift the red locking device and insert the safety filter.

Please note : If the cover does not close, check whether the filterbag has been inserted properly.

5.3 Exchanging the exhaust filter <Figure 9>

After exchanging the filter bag approximately 20 times, exchangethe exhaust filter.

• Push the exhaust filter off the housing and withdraw.

Assembly:

• Insert new filter.

5.4 Exchanging the brush strip <Figure 10>• Unscrew the brush head cover. Turn the brush so that the

brush strip can be pushed or pulled through the opening.

Assembly:

• Push home the new brush strip and screw the cover on again.

6. In the event of malfunction

The brush and suction motor is switched off via the built-inelectronic systemBrush is blocked

– Withdraw mains plug, check brush for any dirt and ifnecessary remove the blockage. The unit now has to berestarted.

Suction turbine switches off, brush head carries onfunctioning (red indicator light goes off)

Thermal switch has disengaged motor due to overheating

– Withdraw mains plug, exchange blocked filter or eliminatesuction hose blockage. After approximately 20 minutes, theunit will start up again.

Suction hose is blocked

Switch off the unit. Remove the flexible hose from the housing andpull it straight. Use something long to release hose blockage.

– The suction hose can be disconnected from the unit bypressing the locking lever. <Figure 11>

Connecting hose is blocked

– The connecting hose can be removed by pulling out bothends. Remove the blockage. <Figure 12>

Connection cable not inserted properly

Connect the upper section of the vacuum cleaner to the brushhead. Connect the hose to the brush head and upper sectionof vacuum cleaner. Plug the connecting cable with connectorinto the socket on the upper section (plug must audibly click intoplace). <Figure 13>

Brushes in brush head are not rotating, suction turbine isrunningHand pipe is not pushed into motor housing properly, or end isworn down

– If the end of the pipe has been worn down (due to vacuumingwithout first fitting the crevice or upholstery nozzle), the endswitch will not be actuated and the brushes will not rotate.

Separating the brush head from the upper section of thevacuum cleaner• Undo the connecting cable, release the plug by pressing in a

pointed object (e.g. screwdriver). <Figure 14>

• The connecting hose can be removed by pulling out the twoends.

• Undo both screws at the side of the upper section to thevacuum cleaner.
