DOK Leipzig, das Internationale Leipziger Festival für Dokumentar- und Animations-fi lm, wurde bereits 1955 gegründet und ist das älteste und eines der renommiertesten Dokumentarfi lmfestivals weltweit.

Jedes Jahr im Herbst verwandelt sich die Leipziger Innen-stadt für eine Woche zu einem Tre� punkt der Filmliebhaber und Fachbesucher aus Deutschland und der Welt. Über 350 Dokumentar- und A n i m a t i o n s f i l m e aus rund 60 Län-dern – darunter viele Premieren – werden über 37.000 Zuschau-ern in 11 Kinosälen präsentiert. Mit uns können Sie eine Wo-che lang rund um den Globus reisen und Ihren Horizont erweitern. Durch die Augen der Regisseure erkunden Sie fremde Kulturen, verscha� en sich ein emotionales Verständnis der Konfl ikte und Herausforde-rungen unserer Zeit und lassen sich von un-gewohnten Sichtweisen berühren.

Der rote Teppich mit Hollywoodstars ist nicht unsere Sache – bei DOK Leipzig geht es vor allem um die Filme, um visuelle und akus-tische Abenteuer, um erzählerische Meister-schaft, um echte Anliegen, um Innovation und

Die Branche verscha� t sich im Rahmen von Podiumsdis-kussionen, Präsentationen, Fallstudien und Fortbildungsveranstaltungen einen fundier-ten Einblick in ästhetische und technologi-sche Trends, in aktuelle Entwicklungen des internationalen non-fi ction Marktes und in die großen Herausforderungen, denen sich die Akteure in Zeiten des Umbruchs gegen-übersehen. DOK Industry ist die Branchenplattform des Festivals. Mit über 1.500 internationa-len Fachbesuchern ist DOK Leipzig einer der wichtigsten Tre� punkte der Dokumen-tarfi lmbranche in Europa und mit seiner internationalen Ausrichtung einzigartig in Deutschland.

Das Ziel von DOK Industry ist die Förde-rung, Finanzierung und Verbreitung des kre-ativen Dokumentarfi lms, der den Zuschauer inspiriert, ihm Einblicke in andere Lebens-welten ermöglicht und ihn befähigt, sich frei von Bevormundung selbst ein Bild von der Welt zu machen

DOK Industry bietet internationalen Gästen Zugang zum deutschen Dokumen-tarfi lmmarkt, ermöglicht fundierte Einbli-cke in aktuelle Entwicklungen des interna-tionalen Marktes, hilft bei der Finanzierung von Projekten und der Vermarktung fertiger Filme und thematisiert die großen Heraus-forderungen, denen sich Filmemacher, Pro-duzenten, Redakteure, Verleiher, Filmförde-rer und andere Filmscha� ende in Zeiten des Umbruchs gegenübersehen. Der DOK Markt Katalog enthält alle Dokumentar- und Animadokfi lme in alpha-betischer Reihenfolge mit den relevanten Informationen zu Länge, Produktionsjahr, Herkunftsland, Format sowie den vertriebsre-levanten Angaben zu beteiligten Koproduzen-ten und Fernsehsendern, Festivalbeteiligun-gen und dem Vertriebskontakt. Zudem dient der DOK Markt als Plattform, auf der Rechte-inhaber und Verwerter vernetzt werden.

INTERNATIONALES DOK LEIPZIG KOPRODUKTIONSTREFFEN

Das Internationale Koproduktionstre� en bietet Produzenten e� ektive Möglichkeiten zur Vernetzung mit internationalen Kollegen und Experten und dient der Anbahnung und Finanzierung internationaler Koproduktio-nen. In organisierten Einzeltre� en haben die Produzenten Gelegenheit, sich selbst, ihre Firma und ihr neues Projekt Kollegen aus an-deren Ländern sowie Redakteuren, Vertrie-ben, Filmförderern und anderen potentiellen Partnern vorzustellen. Darüber hinaus erhal-ten die Teilnehmer fundierte Informationen zu den Märkten der jeweiligen Gastländer und Gelegenheit zum Erfahrungsaustausch.

WILD AT HEART

Neue Zeiten brauchen neue Formen: „Wild at Heart“ ist ein World Café Format und fördert eine neue Gesprächskultur, um der Bran-che Wege aus der Krise zu erö� nen. „Wild at Heart“ ermöglicht o� enen und ehrlichen Austausch auf Augenhöhe und jenseits be-rufl icher Hierarchien. Hier überwinden etablierte Profi s und neue Talente, Filme-macher, Produzenten, Vertriebsexperten, Redakteure und Förderer gemeinsam Denk-schranken und diskutieren die Zukunft.

DOK SUMMITS/DOK PODIEN

Die DOK Summits und DOK Podien the-matisieren die neuesten Entwicklungen und Trends in der internationalen Dokumentar-fi lmszene. Neue Auswertungsmöglichkeiten für Dokumentarfi lme, alternative Vertriebs-wege und -strategien, geändertes Zuschau-erverhalten, neue technische Formate sowie neue Produktionsfelder und Fördermöglich-keiten fordern von den Filmemachern und Produzenten permanente Fortbildung, um international konkurrenzfähig zu bleiben. DOK Industry sieht es als wichtige Aufgaben an, den Zugang zu diesen höchst relevanten Informationen zu erleichtern und animiert gleichzeitig zur aktiven Mitgestaltung dieser Prozesse.

NETWORKING:GET TOGETHERS/DOK LOUNGES

Von Dienstag bis Freitag laden Partner von DOK Leipzig in der Festivalwoche von 18:30 – 19:30 ins Festivalzentrum ein. Ein fester Termin für alle Akkreditierten, um sich zu tre� en, auszutauschen und das erste Glas Wein des Abends zu trinken. Ab 22:00 be-ginnen die späten Lounges zum Weiterre-den, Feiern und Tanzen!

Firmen, Institutionen und Partner von DOK Leipzig können die Get Togethers und Lounges buchen, ausrichten und dabei die Gelegenheit nutzen, sich zu präsentieren.

DOK INDUSTRY TALKS

Zu den täglichen DOK Industry Talks werden Experten aus unterschiedlichen Ländern eingeladen, um über Vertriebs- und Auswer-tungsmöglichkeiten von Dokumentarfi lmen in ihren Ländern zu berichten. DOK Markt Consultants helfen bei der Vernetzung und beraten individuell.

DOKTRAINING

DOK Training, die Fortbildungsplattform von DOK Leipzig, fl ankiert mit verschiede-nen Veranstaltungen das jährlich stattfi n-dende Leipziger Filmfestival und ist darüber hinaus das Jahr hindurch mit innovativen Workshops präsent.

DOK Training unterstützt die Begeg-nung und die Wissensvermittlung zwischen international erfahrenen Profi s und Nach-wuchstalenten. Film- und Medienscha� ende aus den Bereichen Dokumentar- und Anima-tionsfi lm erhalten durch zahlreiche Ange-bote die Möglichkeit zur Fortbildung, zum kreativen Austausch und zur Weiterentwick-lung ihrer Projekte.

Legenden des Dokumentar- und Ani-mationsfi lms geben in den Meisterklassen unvergessliche Einblicke in Ihre Arbeits-weise und ihr Lebenswerk. In Cross Media Fallstudien und Präsentationen zeigen in-ternationale Macher, wie sich künstlerischer Anspruch mit 360° verbinden lässt. IDEA DOK FUND

DOK Festival, DOK Industry, DOK Training, DOK Projects – over the past years, the Inter-national Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film has transformed itself from a mere fi lm festival to an institution that consistently supports the creation, fi nancing and distribution of extraordinary documentary and animated fi lms and is active throughout the year. One element, which will form an ideal complement to the exist-ing platforms, is still at the development stage: the DOK Fund.

Today, the documentary fi lm market is in a phase of radical change brought about by dig-itisation. Traditional models of fi nancing and distribution have ceased to work and television’s role as a partner of the auteur fi lm is in decline.

In view of these upheavals, fi lm festivals are becoming enormously important. Not only do they provide attractive screening platforms and cultural events, they must also shoulder more of the respon-sibility for fi nancing and distributing ambitious artistic animated and documentary fi lms if they wish to maintain their programming standards in the future. Because more and more often, these genres fall through the grid of the commercially ori-ented fi lm and media funding institutions, while public broadcasters resort to facile mainstream productions, push the two genres to the nocturnal programme margins and have long given up any attempt to provide adequate fi nancing.

That’s why we need the DOK Fund to support extraordinary, artistic, radical, political, bold, formally innovative, thrilling or excitingly calm fi lms. These fi lms from across the globe are meant to push the boundaries of the genres and pioneer new aesthetics and narrative approaches. DOK Leipzig is unique in combining two genres as diverse as animated and documentary fi lms and bringing their creators together, and has already screened Animadoc programmes when hy-brid fi lm forms were still largely unknown.
