OBJECTIVESUpon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
• Describe the management of the actively seizing child and differentiate between neurologic emergencies in pediatric patients.
• Identify patient presentations, historical features and physical exam findings concerning for non-accidental trauma in children.
• Review the emergent management and stabilization of the pediatric trauma patient.
• Outline care of the agitated or scared child in the emergency setting.
• Evaluate pediatric genitourinary urgencies, emergencies and their management.
• Classify orthopedic injuries in children.
• Describe the management of the child with fracture or limp.
• Review pediatric toxicology emergencies and their management.
• Explain management of the pediatric patient presenting in diabetic ketoacidosis.
• Identify cardiac emergencies in children of varying ages.
• Assess the care of the undifferentiated critically ill neonate.
WHO SHOULD ATTENDEmergency medicine physicians, clinicians, advanced practice providers, pediatricians, family medicine physicians and anyone in a position to care for children in an acute care setting are encouraged to attend.

Please join us for this inaugural event brought to you by the Makenna David Pediatric Emergency Department at UK HealthCare and Kentucky Children’s Hospital. This event will highlight the care of the acutely ill or injured child in the emergency medicine setting. Topics will range from pediatric trauma to the management of pediatric diabetic ketoacidosis, pediatric seizures and cardiac emergencies.
