Die 1972 gegründete National Flute Association ist die größte Flötenorganisation der Welt. Rund 5.000 Mitglieder aus mehr als 50 Ländern treffen sich persönlich, online, auf Kongressen und in Foren, bei Aufführungen und im Unterricht. Zu den Mitgliedern zählen führende Solisten, Orchestermusiker, Performer von Jazz und Weltmusik, Lehrer, erwachsene Hobbymusiker und Schülerinnen und Schüler jeglichen Alters. Erklärtes Ziel der NFA ist die Förderung der Flöte, der künstlerischen Brillanz ihrer Interpreten sowie der Flötenliteratur.

Für die Mitglieder der Musikverlagsgesellschaft wird ein jährlicher Wettbewerb (Newly Published Music Competition) abgehalten. Die mit diesem Preis ausgezeichneten Publikationen gelangen im Rahmen der anschließenden Versammlung zur Aufführung. Außerdem werden sie in der NFA-Mitgliederzeitschrift The Flutist Quarterly rezensiert.

The National Flute Association, founded in 1972, is the largest flute organization in the world. Approximately 5,000 members from more than 50 countries join together in person, online, at conventions, informally and in forums, through publications and classrooms, in performance, in friendship and collegiality. Guided by its goals to encourage a higher standard of artistic excellence for the flute, its performers, and its literature, members include leading soloists, orchestral players, jazz and world music performers, teachers, adult amateurs, and students of all ages. The annual Newly Published Music Competition is for members of the music publishing business community. Winning publications that are performable works are performed during subsequent conventions and given high priority as required works for subsequent competitions sponsored by the National Flute Association. They also are reviewed in the NFA’s member publication, The Flutist Quarterly.

Tilmann Dehnhard studierte Querflöte und Saxophon an der Universität der Künste Berlin und Filmmusik an der Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen in Babelsberg. Bei CD-Produktionen und Konzerten arbeitete er u.a. mit Sam Rivers, Steve Lacey, Evan Parker, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Till Brönner zusammen. Seit knapp zehn Jahren ist Tilmann Dehnhard für die Universal Edition als Komponist und Herausgeber seiner Flötenschulen und -stücke tätig.

Tilmann Dehnhard studied flute and saxophone at the Berlin University of the Arts and film music at the Film and Television Academy in Babelsberg. He has performed on CDs and in concerts with Sam Rivers, Steve Lacey, Evan Parker, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Till

Brönner and others. For almost ten years, Tilmann Dehnhard has been working as a composer and editor for Universal Edition publishing his own flute methods and pieces.
