Die Hauptmenge der nicht salzartigen,,kovalenten" Azide bestreiten die ,,organisehen" Azide, bei denen dieNa-Gruppe mit einer ~-Bindung an den Kohlenstoff gebunden ist; fiberden Stand der Untersuehungen im Jahre 1954 unterr ichteten Boyer undCanter (4) , doch sind gerade in den Jahren nach 1954 zahlreiche weitereArbeiten fiber organisehe Azide ver6ffentlicht worden. Der Aufschwung,der die Chemic der flfichtigen Verbindungen der dem Kohlenstoff benach-barten Elemente in jfingerer Zeit erfaBt hat, fiihrte auch zur Synthesevieler neuer Azide jener Elemente. Bei der Mehrzahl dieser Verbindungenhandelt es sich um Azide, bei denen organische Reste an das Nachbar-atom der Azidgruppe gebunden sind; fiber diese ,,metallorganischenAzid-Verbindungen" ist vor kurzem ein zusammenfassener Artikel vonThayer erschienen (5).Der vorliegende Bericht fal3t die bisherigen Ergebnisse fiber die Azidedes Elements Bor zusammen. Ein kleiner Teil dieser Ergebnisse wurdein den genannten Zusammenfassungen schon berficksichtigt, der gr613ereTell ist erst in neuerer Zeit publiziert worden oder ist unpubliziert. Ob-wohl die Chemie der Borazide yon der pr~iparativen Seite her abgerundeterscheint, liegt beispielsweise fiber den Meehanismus des Zerfalls der Bor-azide kein abgeschlossenes Bild vor.

    I I . D a r s t e l l u n g d e r B o r a z i d eZur DarsteUung von Boraziden sind nur Verfahren bekannt, bei deneneine Na-Gruppe durch eine Substitutionsreaktion an das Boratom gebun-den wird; nicht bekannt ist dagegen die Umforlnung B-gebundener N-Funktionen in die Ns-Gruppe, ein Reaktionstyp, der beispielsweise beimKohlenstoff genutzt werden kann und im Jahre 1864 zur Darstellung desPhenylazids, der &ltesten bekannten Azid-Verbindung, ffihrte (6). Mehrnach pr&parativen als nach systematischen Gesichtspunkten lassen sichdie Darstellungswege fiir Borazide folgendermaBen klassifizieren:a) Azidierung yon Borwasserstoff-Verbindungen mit HNs oder mit

    NaN 3.b) Azidierung von Borhalogen-Verbindungen mit LiN3 in unpolaremMedium oder mit salzartigen Aziden in polarem Medium.e) Azidierung yon Borhalogen-Verbindungen mit kovalenten Aziden.d) Substitution eines Amins in Bordiamin-Verbindungen nach

    1~. PaetzoldgesteUt. Aufwendiger als die Darstellung des Borazids ist dabei vielfachdie Gewinnung des entsprechenden Chlorids.Das Bor tri saz id l~il3t sich aus BC13 un d LiN 3 nic ht darsteUen. In Benzoltritt keine Reaktion ein, und in Methylenchlorid bleibt die Azidierungs-reaktion auf der Stufe des trimeren Bordichloridazids stehen, das aufdiesem Wege zum erstenmal in 20-proz. Ausbeute erhalten wurde (70):

So erhielten L e Ble r und T odd (12 )als ersten Ver treter der Diorganylborazide das Dimesitylborazid aus dementsprechenden Fluorid und AI(Na) 3 in T etrah ydro fura n. M u s z k a t , H i l lund Kirson (13 ) stellten B-Trisazidoborazole dutch Umsetzung yon B-Trichlorborazolen mit NaN a in Acetonitril dar:

Sogewann Knoth (14 ) aus dem inneren Diazoniumsalz des Dekahydrido-dekabor ats ein 1,10-Diazoniumazido-octah ydrido-dekabo rat nach Artder S a n d m e y e r - R e a k t i o n aromatischer Diazonium-Verbindungen:

    Beim 1,10-Bisdiazonium-octachloro-dekaborat konnte K n o t h - je nachReaktionsbedingu ngen - eine oder beide Diazonium-Gru ppen gegen dieAzidgruppe austauschen, w~thrend die BC1-Bindungen nicht azidiertwurden:

    Da~rstetlung, Eigenschaften und Zer&tl yon BorazidenEs f/tilt auf, dab der Einflul3, den die Phenylsubstituenten auf die Stabi-litlit ausfiben, parallel geht mit der Bereitschaff jener Substituenten, dieelektrophile aromatische Zweitsubstitution in die o- und p-Stellung zulenken; besonders augenf/illig ist in dieser Hinsicht der Sprung des kyWerts beim Dianisylborazid. Die geringe Stabilit/it des Di-o-tolylbor-azids ist dagegen offenbar auf sterische Ursachen zurtickzufiihren.Die thermische Stabilit~t der Diarylborazide ist gr613enordnungsm~tl3igvergleichbar mit der Stabilit~tt der Tfiaryhalethylazide (54) , doeh ist derEinflul3 der Substituenten am aromatischen Kern ein anderer. Wenigerstabil als die Diarylborazide sind im allgemeinen jene organischen Azide- z.B. die Carbons~ureazide oder die Cycloimoniumazide (55 ) -, beidenen die N3-Gruppe an ein unges/itt igtes C-Atom gebunden ist, obwohldiese Azide mit den Diarylboraziden insofern vergleichbar sind, Ms dieNs-Gruppe jeweils an ein trigonal-planares, unges~ttigtes Naehbaratomgebunden ist und prc-px-Bindungen zwischen der N3-Gruppe und demNachbaratom m6glich sind:

Dieftir die fibrigen Organometallazide angegebenen ungef~ihren Zersetzungs-temperaturen lassen erkennen, dal3 beispietsweise die Triphenylmetall-azide yon Si (380 ~ Ge (375 ~ und Sn (300 ~ wesentlich stabiler sindals Diphenylborazid (in Klammern sind die Zersetzungstemperaturenangegeben).Ffir die thermische Stabilit/it der kovalenten anorganischen Azide lassensich kaum ordnende Prinzipien erkennen. So sinkt zwar bei den Triphenyl-elementaziden der 4. Hauptgruppe die Stabilit/it in sch6ner Regelm/i/3ig-keit yore Si zum Pb (das Anfangsglied Triphenylmethylazid (170 bis190~ f~ lt aus der Reihe), doch verh/ilt es sich bei der5. Hauptgruppegerade umgekehrt: Diphenylphosphorazid (13,6 bis 13,8 ~ ist wesent-lich instabiler als Diphenylarsenazid (191 ~ Der einzige erkennbareallgemeinere Zusammenhang ist offenbar der, dab die Azide eines Ele-ments um so instabiler werden, je mehr Azidgruppen an das Element ge-bunden sind, ein Befund, der sich bei den Aziden des Siliciums und desvierwertigen Bleis, abet auch bei den Amidoboraziden (R2N)8_~B(Na) nbest~ttigen lieB.

    Die Abspaltung von N~ dtirfte dann im allgemeinen nicht nach 1. Ord-nung verlaufen, so dab die ftir die Diarylborazide gefundenen kl-Kon-stanten fiir den Zerfall dieser Azide eine derartige S/iurekatalyse un-wahrscheinlich machen.Eine Diskussion des Mechanismus der thermischen Borazid-Umlagerungkann sich auf dreierlei experimentelle Informationen stiRzen: Auf Ni-tren-Abfangsversuche, auf kinetische Messungen und auf die Unter-suchung der Wanderungsverh/iltnisse beim Zerfall gemischt arylierterBorazide Ar'ArBN3.Ein erster Anhaltspunkt daftir, dab die Nitren-Stufe beim thermischenBorazidzerfall im wesentlichen nicht durchlaufen wird, ist das Auftretenyon Umlagerungsprodukten, die Ms die Haup tprodukte des Zerfalls allerdiesbeziiglich untersuchten Borazide des Typs X2BNs anfallen. Dagegenfindet man beim thermischen, aber auch beim photolytischen Borazid-zerfall keine typischen (57 ) Nitren-Folgeprodukte: Dehydrogenierungs-produkte, Produkte des Nitren-Einschubs in EiMachbindungen - in462

Solche Produkte beobachteten beispielsweise L w o w s k iund Ma~t ingly beim Zerfall yon Azidoameisensiture~ithylester und schlos-sen daraus auf das Auftre ten yon Nitrenen (58).Zwei Hinweise auf Nitrene bei Borazid-Zerf~illen liegen allerdings vor:1. Das bei der Verseiiung der Thermolyseprodukte yon Diphenylborazid

    in 5 bis 8 proz. Ausbeute gefundene N H 8 kann als Indiz ftir eine De-hydrogenierungsreaktion gewertet werden, bei der aus dem Nitren(C~Hs)~BN das Amid (C,H~)~BNH~. gebildet wird.

    2. Sechsstiindiges Erhi tzen yon (C6H~)2BN~ 9 Py im Uberschul3 yon Di-methylamin auf 240-260~ liefert Diphenylbor-2,2-dimethylhydra-zid in 4,4proz. Ausbeute (38), wobei es sich offensichtlich mn eine Ni-tren-Einschubreaktion in eine NH-Bindung handelt:
