  • The aluminum frames are generously rear-ventilated and arefastened to the wood tension-free with stable holders: Thatlets the wood breathe, and the aluminum frame expandunder temperature fluctuations without hindrance.

Circumferential gaskets at the casements and rod framesprovide reliable insulation and noise protection. If necessary, they can also be sealed with system gaskets between thealuminum frame and the casements.

Groove drainage is normally accomplished invisibly andwithout bothersome drainage caps.

The profiles can be joined at the visible edge with either 5 or2 mm radii. Mullion and transom profiles are available in twostructural heights, which enable clean profile-butt attach-ments, even with complicated window divisions.

The frame connections can be carried out either weldedor with stable, punched corner connections: Element sizesof up to 3.5 x 2.5 m are available.

achieves very good insulation values of1.4 W/ m2K at the frame, and is thus very suitable for usein low-energy houses.

has the certification of Load Group C, DIN 18055,Air-Tightness Level 4 as per DIN EN 12207, andDriving-Rain Tightness 9a as per DIN EN 12208. A fireprotection test with the classification G30/F30 hasbeen completed successfully.

The diverse range of profiles leaves no design wishesunfulfilled: All standard window designs and types ofopenings can be implemented in various styles and profilewidths. All kinds of slanted windows and round arches canalso be provided.

The wood-aluminum is based on the classicbasic design for wood-aluminum systems, with the samewood thicknesses for the casements and the frames.Together with the fashionable, milled glass bead of the case-ments, this design is an especially economical and efficientwood-aluminum window construction option. With thiswooden frame design, numerous technical and opticalvariations are feasible via modular construction, merely bychanging the aluminum shells.

The glass is taken up protected in the wooden groove. The edge of the insulation-glass plate is thus well insulatedagainst heat loss. The glass is placed into the casementfrom the outside, covered with the aluminum shell, andsealed.

The glass sealing can be accomplished with gray or blackglazing gaskets, or with silicone, as desired.

The aluminum shell is the weather-protective element, andalso an architectural element which can be colordesignedat will. The wooden frame provides stability and outstandinginsulation, and gives the house a pleasantly comfortablecharacter. All fittings used in wooden-window construction can beused here.

The temperature factor "f rsi" as perDIN EN ISO 10211-2 at the edge of the pane must be de-monstrably equal to or greater than 0.7, i.e., the insideof the pane edge must have a surface temperature higherthan 13°C.The underlying wood-aluminum system must be certified tofulfill the following requirements: A system test as per the

quality and testing stipulations of RAL-RG 424/2;driving-rain tightness as per DIN EN 12208, Class 9a; andjoint-permeability as per DIN EN 12207, Class 4. The alumi-num profiles are to be of AlMgSi 0.5 F22 in anodized quality, and in accordance with DIN 1748 and DIN 17 615. Theimplementation must be as per the pertinent standards andguidelines, the recognized rules of the technology and thestipulation of the manufacturer.

    Design Structure

Wooden StructureThe wooden structure is to be implemented in accordancewith the requirements of DIN 68121. In order to achieveintermediate spacing as uniform as possible between theinsulation glass and standard glass (installation by Raffsto-re), the glass bead is generally to be installed from theoutside.Grooving of the wooden profiles for the reception ofthe aluminum profiles is inadmissible.

Aluminum FrameA semi-surface-recessed system is to be provided. At thebutt joints between the frame profile and the mullion, andbetween the mullion and the transom profile, recesses of2 mm must be created. The drainage of the groove area is tobe accomplished via masked punch-outs in the lower profilecrosspiece. Optionally, a visible drainage with a cover capthe same color as the aluminum frames must be possible. The design of the aluminum frames must be optionallypossible with either mechanical or welded connections. The following forms are possible:

    mechanical connection (punched)welded connection.

Attachment of the Aluminum FrameThe attachment of the aluminum frames to the woodenframe is accomplished via removable turn and pivot-clipholders of high-quality, temperature-resistant plastic, such

as impact-resistance-modified POM. Tension-free expansionof the aluminum shell toward the wooden part and thefull-surface rear-ventilation of the gap between the woodand the aluminum frame must be ensured. This gap musttherefore be designed for at least 4 mm. The attachment ofthe casement frames to the wooden part is accomplishedwith standard composite-window fittings. Holes for ventila-tion must be drilled to ensure the ventilation of the glassgroove.

GasketsThe fixed frame is to be provided with a circumferential gas-ket of high-quality TPO, prepared as a frame by us, betweenthe wooden frame and the wooden casements. In case ofgreat driving-rain load, it must optionally be possible to in-stall a gasket between the aluminum frame and the alumi-num casement either horizontally below or from three sides. The glazing is accomplished from the outside with a circum-ferential EPDM dry glazing gasket. The gasket must be ableto take up a glass plate with a tolerance of +/- 0.5 mm. Thevisible gasket lip at the glass may not be wider than 5 mm.Wedge gaskets may not be used as external glazing gas-kets. Internally, dry glazing with EPDM gaskets in stagedgasket thicknesses is to be used. For the insulation of thegap between the aluminum and wooden casements, a stan-dard overlap gasket can optionally be used. In this case, sufficient ventilation of the intermediate space between theglass plates must be provided by breaks in the gasket.

    Manufacturing Mechanically Connected Frames

Cutting Profiles to SizeIt is recommended that the profiles be cut with hard-metal-equipped saw-blades, using cooling lubricant on miterrotary saws with a mechanical feed and a chuck.

The Miter Corner Connections as Stuck CornersCorresponding corner brackets are available for the profilestructural heights of 17.5, 14.5 and 12 mm. The profiles arefirst cut and the grease is removed with grease solvent.A grease solvent that does not damage the painted visiblesurface is to be used. The reception groove is spread with glue. Then, the cornerand stiffening brackets are stuck onto the reception groove, the corner is pushed together, adjusted to alignment, andholes punched with a hydraulic punch from above. Anyresidual glue emerging on the visible side is to be removedwith a moist cloth drenched in liquid cleanser. The completeframes are to be stored with the visible side up until the gluehas set.

The Miter Bracket as a Screwed-Bracket ConnectionAlternatively, there is the possibility for small orders to pro-duce 90° miters with the corner brackets EW 3000 S and atorx screwdriver, size T30. After profile cutting and de-grea-sing, glue is applied to the reception groove. The cornerbracket EW 3000 S is then pushed into the reception groo-ve, and the corners aligned. The screws are then tightenedevenly with a torx screwdriver, one turn to the left and oneto the right, in the direction of miter, until the thread of thescrew catches perceptibly. This processing instruction also applies for corner bracketEW 3000-12 S.

The Miter Bracket with a Slanted Element as a WedgeConnectionFor corners of slanted elements, the adjustable cornerbracket EW 3000-V N is used. After the profile is cut to sizeand degreased, the glue is applied to the reception groove. The adjustable corner bracket is then pushed into thereception groove, and the corners aligned. The screws arethen tightened evenly with a torx screwdriver, one turn tothe left and one to the right, in the direction of miter, untilthe thread of the screw catches perceptibly.

Attachment Intervals for Turn and Pivot-Clip Holders and Stiffening Brackets

General system stipulations for the attachment of the aluminum frames via turn and pivot-clip and clipholders:Standard attachment intervals for single-chamber profiles: 80 mm from corner, then every 200-250 mmAttachment to be implemented with clip holders for casement and fixed glazing. When H 3011-4 or 5 screwless clip holders are used, max. attachment interval of 200 mm is to be maintainedfor casement widths up to 140 cm and installation heights < 20 m.

Special system stipulations for the attachment of aluminum frames via turn and pivot-clip and clip holders:For double-chamber profiles, the following variations which differ from the above-stated stipulations are possible:

Fixed frame inner chamber: Attachment interval every 200-250 mm

Fixed frame outer chamber: Attachment interval every approx. 400 mm

Mullions and transoms: Chamber adjacent to fixed glazing: Attachment interval every 200-250 mm

Transoms: Chamber adjacent to casements to be opened: approx. every 250 mm (load from people leaning out)

Mullions: Chamber adjacent to casements to be opened: every 400 mm (alternately).

System stipulations for the attachment of aluminum frames with stiffening brackets:With fixed glazing, stiffening brackets are used to stabilize the aluminum frame profiles, and especially to ensuresufficient contact pressure for dry glazing. They are installed at the following intervals:

When using clip holders: Attachment interval 150 mm from corner, then every 600 mm

When using pivot-clip holders: Attachment interval 150 mm from corner, then every 450 mm.

Note: Since the exact attachment intervals vary and are difficult to ascertain by EDP technology, five holdersper running meter of profile are generally assumed at tendering and order processing. It is recommended thatthese items be kept in inventory to provide for fluctuations of order-dependent demand.

Installation of Aluminum Frames at the Wooden PartThe attachment of the aluminum frame to the wooden partcan be accomplished with turn holders, turn-clip holdersor screwless clip holders, as desired. For the installationof aluminum frames with dry glazing, clip holders must beused. Due to the special design of the clip holders, contactpressure between the glass and the outer gasket is createdby turning it by 90°.Holders are available with base heights of 4, 5 and 6 mm,in order to be able to compensate for various wood over-laps (15 and 16 mm).The installation can be done with holders equipped withplastic rebates, or aligned with jigs. The holders are positio-ned in the wooden frame via their rebates or jigs, andscrewed on with 3.5 x 30 mm stainless-steel countersunkscrews. The intervals between the holders is to beimplemented as per drawing, for multi-chamber profiles, the holders are to be arranged recessed around thechamber width.

The holders are to be aligned in longitudinal direction.

When using turn-clip holders, the frame is pushed into theholder until it catches, through blows with the hand.

If clip holders are used, the frame is pressed by handforcefully onto the holder, which is then simultaneously fixedin the profile chamber by a 90° turn of the wrench. Wheninstalling casements with dry lazing and milled glass beads, ensure that the reduced part of the wrench is used in sucha way that the wrench does not come into contact with theglass when turning.

The special turn holder with a one-sided extension enablesframe installation with no special tools. The extension isturned by 90° by hand, and the holder then catches.

One special feature is the installation of the holders on therebate profile (AP). Here, the holders are screwed on witha 4.2 x 13 mm self-tapping screw as per drawing on p. 128,through the profile strut in the holder.

Screwless clip holders (only for the MIRA system) are provi-ded in two pieces, and can be removed from the aluminumframe by pushing the lower part of the holder aside.

After the actual assemblyprocess, a visual examinati-on should ensure that allholders have caughtcorrectly, which is recogniz-able from the markinggrooves on the holder base.

After installation of thealuminum frame, the foilsshould be removed fromthe aluminum profiles. Foil-covered profiles may not beexposed to sunlight, sincethe foil is not UV-resistant.

If the aluminum frame is tobe dismantled, this isaccomplished for both turnand turn-clip holders by a90° turn of the wrench.

DH 4-8 V clip holders forcasement profile are turnedwithout wrenches.

For multi-chamber profiles, the holders are to be arrangedaround the chamber width.

Attachment of the ZP 7.21Additional Profile After the profile is cut, the addi-tional profile is riveted directlyinto the glazing groove of theframe profiles through the holesdrilled by us with 3 x 8 mmaluminum pop rivets; no addi-tional holes must be drilled.

Up to an inter-nal fixed-frame clearance of120 cm, two openings are to beprovided every 10 cm, startingfrom the edge; for widerelements, an additional centralopening is required.

Monitoring of Drainage du-ring Installation of Windowsin Wall Rebates If window elements are instal-led in wall rebates, there is theunfortunate possibility that oneof drainage openings pre-punched by us will happen tobe behind the rebate. Thisopening must be closed offwith sealing compound, so thatno unseen water entry canoccur behind the rebate. Thenecessary drainage must thenbe ensured by an additionalhole drilled at another point inthe area into which thewindow-sill sheet, or similarpart, extends.

Before installation of the punchedcasement frames, seal miter with sealingcompound!

Long hole for the installationof the drainage cap

When ordering the drainage cap, specify surface!

When using the additional profiles ZP 7.18 andZP 7.21, seal the miter area (inside).

GlazingWhen implementing glazingwith milled glass beads, itmust be ensured that onlyinsulation glass with athickness tolerance of +/-0.5 mm is used. Moreover, when ordering and installingglass, it is necessary to en-sure that the glass platesinstalled show at least5 mm of space toward theglass groove for blocking,so that the clip holders donot come into contact withthe glass edge duringinstallation of the aluminumframes. For glazing, profile gasketsare available which permitdry glazing with 4 and 5 mmgaps outside, and 2-6 mmgaps inside. For outside wetglazing, the gasket profileHA 3061 is applied, instead of backing strips.

The preparation of the aluminum profiles (cleaning, priming)as well as the suitable silicone should be coordinated withthe silicone manufacturers.

The outer glazing gaskets HA 3060 and HA 3060/5 arerolled into the glazing grooves of the profiles. For miterbrackets, the gasket is pulled around and forms a closedcorner. To prevent distortion of the gasket when it is passedaround the corner, it is useful to cut a 3-mm deep notch intothe most extended gasket lip at the rubber-frame corner. The joint of the gasket is carried out in the middle of theupper cross profile. The gasket is notched at the T-buttjoints of the frame profiles in the rear, throughout the widthof the glazing groove. The gasket should generally be instal-led with about 1% excess, particularly at the joint.

The inner glazing gaskets HA 3065/2 through /6 should alsobe rolled into the groove of the wooden frame with approx.1% excess. Here however, the corners are butt-jointed. Dueto the installation with an excess, a closed corner is alsoachieved here.

The plug gasket HA 3063 is designed for use for dry-glazedfixed glazing with glass beads: After installation of the outergasket and of the glass, and the screwed connection of the

glass beads, the plug gasket is rolled in on the inside, andthrough its wedge shape generates the necessary contactpressure between the glass and the outer gasket.

Fixed-Frame GasketThe fixed-frame gasket is delivered as a completely manu-factured frame of high-quality TPE. The gasket can be pres-sed into the prepared groove before the Installation of thealuminum frame onto the wooden part. The aluminum frameis then installed onto the wooden part, which is equippedwith turn-clip holders and pre-installed gaskets. If the fixed-frame gasket itself is made from profiles fromthe role, the clinched corner must be cut out with notchingpliers and glued, e.g. with a cyanoacrylate glue such asSicomet standard type "50", by Sichel of Hanover.

Formation of the Wooden ProfilesTo establish the thicknesses of the wooden frames and theprofile widths, please observe the pertinent norms and gui-delines on structural-stability dimensioning of mullions andtransoms, especially for window walls with a surface greaterthan 9 sq.m., and/or height and width greater than 2 m.These include DIN 1055 (load assumptions in building con-struction), DIN 18055 (window-joint permeability and dri-ving-rain safety), and DIN 18056 (window walls, measuringand implementation). Moreover, please refer to the pertinentpublications of the Window Institute in Rosenheim

All fittings used in wooden-window construction can beused here. The aluminum frames are generously rear-ventilated and arefastened to the wood tension-free, with stable holders: Thatlets the wood breathe, and the aluminum frame expand dueto temperature fluctuations without hindrance.

Circumferential gaskets at the casements and rod framesprovide reliable insulation and noise protection. The groovedrainage is accomplished invisibly and without disturbingdrainage caps, through the use of approved rain-protectionrails.

The profiles can be joined at the visible edge with either 5 or2 mm radii. Mullion and transom profiles are available in twostructural heights, which enable clean profile-butt attach-ments, even with complicated window divisions.

The frame connections can be carried out either welded orwith stable, punched corner connections: Element sizes upto 3.5 x 2.5 m are available.

Classic achieves very good insulation valuesof 1.5 W/ m2K, averaged at the 1.23 x 1.48 m frame. The tightness values correspond to the good values of thewooden-window design used.

The diverse range of profiles leaves no design wishes unful-filled: All standard window designs and types of openingscan be implemented in various styles and profile widths. All kinds of slanted windows and round arches can also beprovided.

The wood-aluminum Classic is based on theclassic basic design for the “IV 68” standard-woodenwindows, with wooden-thickness of 68 mm at the casementand frames. Therefore, no investments in special millingtools are necessary for the manufacture of the woodenframe.

The reception of the glass is accomplished completely in thewooden groove. The insulation glass edge is thus excellentlyshielded against heat loss. Replacement of the glass plate isaccomplished from the inside by loosening the glass bead.

Silicone is used to seal the profiles toward the glass.

The aluminum shell is the weather-protective element, andalso an architectural element which can be color-designedat will. The wooden frame provides stability and outstandinginsulation, and gives the house a pleasantly comfortablecharacter.

Classic is the ideal system for the manufacture ofwood-aluminum windows on the basis of standard woodenwindows, with a distinctive surface-recessed appearance.High utility, excellent features and diverse uses distinguishthe system.

    General

The design must provide an insulation value at the frame Ufas per DIN EN ISO 10077-2 of less than 1.45 W/m2K via testor calculation. The underlying wood-aluminum composite system mustcertify fulfillment of the following requirements: A systemtest as per the quality and testing stipulations of RAL-RG424/2. If necessary, proof of driving-rain tightness as perDIN EN 12208, Class 9a, and joint-permeability as perDIN EN 12207, Class 4, for the wooden-window designwithout aluminum cladding can be certified.

    Design Structure

Wooden StructureThe wooden structure is to be implemented in accordancewith the requirements for wooden windows of DIN 68121.The casements and fixed glazing are to be provided withglass beads. The insulation-glass edge composite is to betaken up from three sides in the wooden groove. Grooving of the wooden profiles for the reception of thealuminum profiles is inadmissible.

Aluminum FramesA surface-recessed system is to be provided. The recessbetween the fixed frames and casements must be 15 mm.At the butt joints between the frame profile and the mullion, and between the mullion and the transom profile, a recessesof 2 mm must be created. The circumferential frame andcasement profiles must have a curve of the profile edge witha radius 5 mm, and the element-separating profiles a radiusof 2 mm. Casement profiles are to be designed with ahollow chamber in the glazing area to increase stiffness. The drainage of the groove area is to be accomplished viathe use of an aluminum rain rail and masked punch-outs inthe lower profile crosspiece. For combined elements that contain casements and fixedglazing in one frame, the circumferential frame profiles in thefixed glazing area must be implemented with a supplementalprofile, so that the glass can be held from three sides in thewooden groove here, too.

The formation of the aluminum frames must be optionallypossible with either mechanical or welded connections. The following implementation is provided:

    mechanical connection (punched)welded connection.

Attachment of the Aluminum FrameThe attachment of the aluminum frames to the woodenframe is accomplished via removable turn and pivot-clipholders of high-quality, temperature-resistant plastic, suchas impact-resistance-modified POM. For dry-glazed case-ments, clip holders are to be used. Tension-free expansionof the aluminum shell toward the wooden part and thefull-surface rear-ventilation of the gap between the woodand the aluminum frame must be ensured. The gap of atleast 4 mm must therefore be provided.

GasketsThe gasket between the casements and fixed frames is tobe formulated as a customary casement-groove gasket, which is to be implemented circumferentially at a leveloutside the weather zone.In the area of the casement-opening side, an EPDM covergasket is to be provided. The outer glazing is to beimplemented as wet glazing with suitable permanent-elasticsealing compound.

Aluminum-profile system to be provided: Gutmann Classic or equivalent

    System provided: ........................................................................................................

The aluminum profiles are to be of AlMgSi 0.5 F22 inanodized quality, and in accordance with DIN 1748 andDIN 17 615. The implementation must be as per the perti-nent standards and guidelines, the recognized rules of thetechnology and the stipulation of the manufacturer.

The wood-aluminum system isa flush-surface system with a modern appearanceand clear architectural accents. Formation andversatile solutions for demanding architecture ata high technological level are the particular strengthsof this system.

All fittings used in wooden-window construction can beused here.

The aluminum frames are generously rear-ventilated, and arefastened to the wood tension-free with stable holders:That lets the wood breathe, and the aluminum frame expanddue to temperature fluctuations without hindrance.

Circumferential gaskets at the casements and rod framesprovide reliable insulation and noise protection. If necessary, they can also be sealed with system gaskets between thealuminum frame and the casements.

The groove drainage is normally accomplished invisibly andwithout bothersome drainage caps.

With 5 mm radii, the profiles create clear lines at the visibleedge. Mullions and transoms, available in various widths, permit even complicated window divisions.

The frame connections can be carried out either weldedor with stable, punched corner connections: Element sizesup to 3.5 x 2.5 m are available.

achieves very good insulation valuesof 1.5 W/ m2K at the frame, and is thus very suitable for usein low-energy houses.

has the certification of Load Group C,DIN 18055, Air-Tightness Level 4 as per DIN EN 12207, andDriving-Rain Tightness 9a as per DIN EN 12208.

The diverse range of profiles leaves no design wishesunfulfilled: All standard window designs and types ofopenings can be implemented in various styles and profilewidths. All kinds of slanted windows and round arches canalso be provided.

The wood-aluminum is based on the classicbasic design for wood-aluminum systems. Designs withthe same wood thicknesses for casements and frames arepossible with adapted profiles. Together with the fashiona-ble, milled glass bead of the casements, this design is anespecially economical and efficient wood-aluminum windowconstruction option.

The aluminum shell is the weather-protective element, andalso an architectural element which can be color-designedat will. The wooden frame provides stability and outstandinginsulation, and gives the house a pleasantly comfortablecharacter.

    Design Structur

Wooden StructureThe wooden structure is to be implemented in accordancewith the requirements of DIN 68121. The casements are tobe provided with a milled glass bead, and the fixed glazingwith a loose glass bead. The insulation glass edge composi-te is to be taken up from both sides in the wood groove.Grooving of the wooden profiles for the reception of the al-uminum profiles is inadmissible.

Aluminum FrameA flush-surface system is to be provided. Between the case-ment and the fixed-frame profile, a circumferential shadowgroove of 7 mm width is to be created. The visible widths ofthe casement profile, including the 7 mm shadow-groove,may not exceed 33 mm, unless wider profiles are necessaryfor structural stability. Standard casement profiles are to beformed with hollow chambers in the glazing area to increasestiffness. Drainage of the groove area is to be accomplishedvia masked 8 mm drilled holes in the lower profile crosspie-ce. Optionally, visible drainage via a cover cap the samecolor as the aluminum frame must be possible. The formation of the aluminum frames must be optionallypossible with either mechanical or welded connections. The following forms are possible:

    Manufacturing Mechanically Connected Frames

Cutting Profiles to Size It is recommended that the profiles be cut with hard-metal-equipped saw-blades, using coolant lubricant on miter ro-tary saws with a mechanical feed and a chuck.

The Miter Corner Connections as Stuck CornersCorresponding corner brackets are available for the profilestructural height of 14.5. The profiles are first cut to size, and the grease is removedwith grease solvent. A grease solvent that will not damagethe painted visible surface is to be used. The reception groove is spread with glue. Then, the cornerand stiffening brackets are pushed into the receptiongroove, the corner is pushed together, adjusted toalignment, and holes punched with a hydraulic punch.Any residual glue emerging on the visible side is to beremoved with a moist cloth drenched in liquid cleanser. The complete frames are to be stored with the visible sideup until the glue has set.

The Miter Bracket as a Screwed-Bracket ConnectionAlternatively, there is the possibility for small orders toproduce 90° miters with the corner brackets EW 3000 S anda torx screwdriver, size T30. After profile cutting andde-greasing, glue is applied to the reception groove. The corner bracket EW 3000 S is then pushed into thereception groove, and the corners aligned. The screws arethen tightened evenly with a torx screwdriver, one turn to

the left and one to the right, in the direction of miter, untilthe thread of the screw catches perceptibly. This processing instruction also applies to corner bracketEW 3000-12 S.

The Miter Bracket with a Slanted Element as a WedgeConnectionAt corners for slanted elements, the adjustable cornerbracket EW 3000-V N is used. After the profile is cut tosize and degreased, the glue is applied to the receptiongroove. The adjustable corner bracket is then pushed intothe reception groove, and the corners aligned. The wedgeis then pulled up gently with gas-pipe pliers. Note that thevisible outside of the profile show no sign of the connection.

The Miter Bracket as Punched and Screwed CornerConnection with Casement ProfilesWith casement profiles in the BRAGA system, the miters arepunched together with the corner bracket EW 3000-4 N.Alternatively, there is the possibility for small orders toproduce 90° miters with the corner brackets EW 3000 Sand a torx screwdriver, size T30. After profile cutting andde-greasing, glue is applied to the reception groove. The corner bracket EW 3000 S is then pushed into thereception groove, and the corners aligned. The screws arethen tightened evenly with a torx screwdriver, one turn tothe left and one to the right, in the direction of miter, untilthe thread of the screw catches perceptibly.

T-Butt JointThe mullions, transoms and crosspiece profiles can beinstalled later into the already bracket-connected frame. For this purpose, the profiles are cut at 20° angles anddegreased. Then, the crosspiece-holders are hung onto one side of theframe and are locked into the side of the installation profileby inserting the clamp wedge into the reception groove with

pliers. The screwed connection is secured with glue. With multi-sectional elements with fixed glazing or a panelparapet underneath, the T-joint must be permanentlyelastically sealed before the aluminum frame is installed. Moreover, careful insulation of the upright profile is to beproduced at the level of the fixed-frame gasket with a fillerpiece and sealant.

    Processing Instructions

Corner Connections of Casement ProfilesThe composite casement can be ordered either as a corner-welded design ex works, or as rod-ware with cornerbrackets and corner pins for to be manufacture into frameson siteFor mechanical connections, the profile is mitered andpre-drilled at the level of the clamping grooves of the cornerconnecting brackets with a diameter of 5 mm. The cornerbracket and the profile chamber are then coated with glue, and the profiles connected. To protect and attach the miter, corner pins are driven through the drilled holes into theclamping grooves.

Attachment of the aluminum to the wooden casement The casement frames is attached to the wooden casementwith standard composite-window hinges and couplers. Priorto casement installations, two drilled holes for ventilation areto be provided on the glass groove crosswise at the bottom.

Glazing of the CasementThe outer glazing gasket is rolled into the groove of the asements profile, as described in the processing instructionsfor the MIRA system, above. The glass plate is then insertedand blocked professionally. The inner glass bead is pushedinto the reception groove of the profile and is secured withinsertion of the inner gasket. The inner gasket can be fittedin either as a vulcanized frame or as roll-ware.

Sealing between the Wood and Aluminum Casement FramesStandard casement overlap gaskets (for wooden windows)are used to seal the casement frames. Here, ensure thatsufficient openings are provided for the rear ventilation of thegap between the glass plates. This can be accomplished bybreaks in the gasket in the lower and upper horizontal areas, approx. every 8 cm.

provides graceful profile views and maskedcasement design with versatile solutions for demandingbuilding construction. Clear design and reliable functionare perfectly connected.

    ( in tegra l

The aluminum shell is the weather-protective element, andalso an architectural element which can be color-designedat will. The wooden frame provides stability and outstandinginsulation, and gives the house a pleasantly comfortablecharacter.Circumferential gaskets at the casements and rod framesprovide reliable insulation and noise protection. If necessary, they can also be sealed with system gaskets between thealuminum frame and the casements.

The groove drainage is normally accomplished invisibly andwithout bothersome drainage caps.

With 5 mm radii, the profiles create clear lines at the visibleedge. Mullion and transom, available in various widths, per-mit even complicated window divisions.

The frame connections can be carried out either welded orwith stable, punched corner connections: Element sizes upto 3.5 x 2.5 m are available.

achieves good insulation values of 1.8 W/m2K at the frame.

has the certification of Load Group CDIN 18055, air-tightness level 4 as per DIN EN 12207, anddriving-rain tightness 9a as per DIN EN 12208.

The essential formation characteristic ofis the masked casement with the narrow frame exterior.Fixed glazing and casements are not architecturallydistinguishable from the outside. The design providesa maximum of light entry.

The diverse range of profiles leaves no design wishesunfulfilled: The system is ideal for panel windows in mullion-transom curtain walls. Windows, doors and fixed glazing arealso usable as single windows and window hinges inmasonry.

The wood-aluminum is based on the classicbasic design for wood-aluminum systems, with the samewood thicknesses for casements and frames. Together withthe fashionable, milled glass bead of the casements, thisdesign is an especially economical and efficient wood-aluminum window construction option.

The reception of the glass is protected in the wooden groo-ve. The edge of the insulation-glass pane is thus well insula-ted against heat loss. The glass is placed into the casementfrom the outside, covered with a stable glass bead and avulcanized gasket frame, and sealed.

The inner sealing toward the glass can be accomplishedwith gray or black glazing gaskets, as desired, or implemen-ted with silicone. All fittings used in wooden-window con-struction can be used here. The aluminum frames are ge-nerously rear-ventilated and are fastened to the wood tensi-on-free with stable holders: That lets the wood breathe, andthe aluminum frame expand under temperature fluctuationswithout hindrance.

Wooden StructureThe wooden structure is to be implemented in accordancewith the requirements of DIN 68121. The casements are tobe provided with a milled glass bead, and the fixed glazingwith a loose glass bead. The wooden sashes and frames areto be at least 68 mm thick, for reasons of stability. Grooving of the wooden profiles for the reception of thealuminum profiles is inadmissible.

Aluminum FrameA flush-surface system is to be provided, with integrated, masked casements. The visible width of the frame is to be72 mm at the main contour; the thickness of the visiblealuminum overlap is to be only 6 mm. The casement maynot protrude visibly more than approx. 5 mm over the alumi-num frame, so that the visual impression of fixed glazing iscreated. For heat protection, the edge system of the insulati-on glass is covered on the outside by a glass bead at thecasement. The aluminum casement profile may not protrudeinto the groove area behind the rebate gasket, since watercould otherwise condense there. The drainage of the groovearea is to be accomplished via masked 8 mm drilled holes inthe lower profile crosspiece for standard windows; for panelwindows in mullion-transom curtain walls, visible drainagewith a covering cap the same color as the aluminum frameis used. The formation of the aluminum frames must be optionallypossible with either mechanical or welded connections. The following implementation is provided:

    mechanical connection (punched)welded connection

Aluminum-profile system to be provided: Gutmann or equivalent

    System provided: ..........................................................................................................

Attachment of the Aluminum FrameThe attachment of the aluminum frame to the wooden frameis accomplished via removable turn and pivot-clip holders ofhigh-quality, temperature-resistant plastic, such as impact-resistance-modified POM. This aluminum sash is attachedwith DIN wood screws through long holes. Tension-free ex-pansion of the aluminum shell toward the wooden part andthe full-surface rear-ventilation of the gap between the woodand the aluminum frames must be ensured. A gap of at least4 mm must therefore be provided at the fixed frame. For precise measurement-position ascertainment, the hol-ders must be provided with pre-cast separator neps.

Gaskets and GlazingThe wooden fixed frame is to be formed with a circumferen-tial gasket of high-quality TPV, prepared as a frame by us,between the frame and the casements. It must be possibleto optionally install an additional gap gasket in the aluminumfixed frame profile toward the casement. The glazing at thecasement must be accomplished from the outside with acircumferential EPDM dry glazing gasket with vulcanizedcorners. The visible gasket lip at the glass may not be widerthan approx. 10 mm at the casement. Internally, dry glazingwith EPDM gaskets in staged gasket thicknesses must bepossible. Note that in spite of the structurally necessary nar-row design, blocking as per regulations of the insulationglass must be implemented. Glazing groove drainage andvapor-pressure balance are to be carried out as per manu-facturer’s instructions.

and joint-permeability as per DIN EN 12207, Class 4.The aluminum profiles are to be of AlMgSi 0.5 F22in anodized quality, and in accordance with DIN 1748 andDIN 17 615. The formation must be as per the pertinentnorms and guidelines, the recognized rules of the techno-logy and the stipulation of the manufacturer.

GeneralThe design must provide an insulation value at the frameUf as per DIN EN ISO 10077-2 of less than 1.45 W/m

    2K viatest or calculation. The wood-aluminum system must becertified as fulfilling the following requirements: A systemtest as per the quality and testing stipulations of RAL-RG424/2; driving-rain tightness as per DIN EN 12208, Class 9a;
