INVITATION Round table meeting on the “Development of intermod al transport in Bulgaria” Dear Madame or Sir, whereas intermodal transport in Europe has been growing steadily in the past 20-30 years, in Bulgaria this “mode” of transport is still not established in current logistics chains:

• There are still limited intermodal transhipment facilities existing in Bulgaria;

• Only a few railway operators are providing intermodal transport services within or from/to Bulgaria;

• Regular intermodal shuttle trains run only in transit between Western Europe and Turkey/Greece;

• The Bulgarian transport market is dominated by road transport.

Time to resign? Or time to bundle forces and lay fo undations for a future growth path of intermodal transport in Bulgaria? These and other items should be discussed with relevant actors of the intermodal sector in Bulgaria.

You are therefore kindly invited to

• discuss the status quo, recent initiatives and future prospects of intermodal transport in Bulgaria,

• achieve a consent about the growth perspectives and coordinate regulative, financial and operational measures that will be necessary to foster the increase of intermodal rail services,

• identify relevant actors and time horizons for the realisation of the intermodal strategy and

• summarise a “road map on intermodal transport” in Bulgaria.
