Cohen's lyrics are often emotionally heavy and lyricallycomplex; recurring themes include love and sex, religion, psychological depression, and music itself. His music hasbecome very influential on other singer/songwriters, andmore than a thousand cover versions of his work have beenrecorded. "Hallelujah" in particular has been covered byBono, Jeff Buckley, John Cale (whose version was featured inthe movie Shrek), Allison Crowe, k.d. lang, Rufus Wainwright,K's Choice (live), Bob Dylan (live), Israeli singer NoamPeled—and now, Honorable Menschen!
