Im Bereich des „Fluid hand-ling“ sind es Maschinenteilewie Pumpen, Armaturen undVentile, die mit korrosivenMedien in Berührung kom-men und entsprechend vorKorrosion geschützt werdensollen, was auch für die Ver-bindungselemente gilt.

KOLB fertigt Spindeln fürChlorventile, Schaltwellen fürKugelhähne, Düsennadelnzum Abdichten und Regelnsowie Kopfschrauben mit sehrphantasievollen Geometrien,bis hin zu Gewindestücken,wie sie in großer Anzahl fürTauchpumpen (Flanschverbin-dung Motor/ Pumpe) benötigtwerden.

Die Werkstoffe sind vorwie-gend austenitische Stähle derGruppe A2, A3, A4, A5 oderauch Legierungen aus höherbeständigeren Gruppen.

Auch nichtrostende Stählesind korrosionsgefährdet(interkristalline Korrosion,Loch- und Spalt-, Spannungs-riß-, Schwingungsriß-, Kon-takt-Korrosion) und durchentsprechende Auslegung der Verbindungs-elemente muß das Gefahren-potential gesenkt werden.

KOLB ist ständig bemüht, diekostengünstigen Verfahrenzur Herstellung der Produkteeinzusetzen.

Gelingt es nicht, auf Mehrstu-fenpressen die Produkte fertigfallen zu lassen (Ø 5 bis 16 mmbei Längen von 5 bis 160 mm),so ist spanende Nacharbeiterforderlich, um die End-geometrie zu erreichen.

Die Werkstoffe sind vorwie-gend austenitische Stähle derGruppe A2, A3, A4, A5 oderaber auch Monel Alloy 400,eine Nickel-/Kupferlegierungfür Spindeln.

„Fluid handling“ machineparts such as pumps, moun-tings and valves are in con-tact with corrosive media.These parts, as well as thefasteners used with them,have to be protected againstcorrosion. Kolb manufactures productssuch as stems for chlorine valves, selector shafts for ball valves, jets and jet needles toseal and control fluids, aswell as screws with very inno-vative head geometry and

studs which are used in sub-mersible pumps to bolt thepump to the engine.The predominant materials inthese fasteners is austeniticsteel (group A2, A3, A4, A5)or alloys of higher resistancegroups. Stainless steel is alsosubject to corrosion(intercrystalline, selective andcrevice, stress and contactcorrosion). Appropriatelydesigning the fastenersshould reduce the potentialfor this danger.

Kolb always attempts to uselowest-cost manufacturing process, in order to provide quality parts at the best pricepossible. If the product can-not be produced completelyon a multi-stage press,which is capable of produ-cing items with Ø from 5 to16 mm and lengths from 5 to160 mm, then machine finis-hing is necessary to reach thefinal geometry.
