Diese Angaben basieren auf dem Generalkonsulat zum Zeitpunkt der Abfassung

vorliegenden Informationen. Die Angaben und insbesondere die Benennung der

Anwälte und sonstigen Rechtsbeistände sind unverbindlich und ohne Gewähr. Bei

Mandatserteilung hat der Mandant für alle Kosten und Gebühren selbst aufzukom-

men.

Allgemeine Informationen:

Besondere Regeln über die örtliche, sachliche oder instanzielle Zuständigkeit von Anwälten existieren in Nigeria nicht. Eine eventuelle Spezialisierung der nach-stehend genannten Anwälten ergibt sich aus den dazugehörigen Anmerkungen (Buchstaben A bis D). Anwalt- oder Notarszwang vor Gericht besteht grundsätzlich nicht in zivilrechtli-chen Angelegenheiten. Inhaftierte haben nach dem „Legal Aid Act“ bei besonders schweren Verbrechen (Mord, Totschlag, vorsätzliche Körperverletzung sowie Beihilfe dazu) Anspruch auf kostenlosen Rechtsbeistand. Die Regierung im Lagos State unterhält ein eige-nes Pflichtverteidigerbüro (Office of Public Defendants). Darüber hinaus gewähren diverse private Organisationen in manchen Fällen kostenlosen Rechtsbeistand o.ä. Unterstützung. Eine Gebührenordnung für Rechtsanwälte oder feste Gebührensätze existiert in Nigeria zwar mit Stand vom 15.08.1991, diese findet jedoch infolge der Unsicher-heit des nigerianischen Wirtschaftssystems sowie der damit einhergehenden Infla-tion de facto keine Anwendung. Vielmehr ist das Honorar in jedem Einzelfall frei auszuhandeln. Der Mandant muss für alle Kosten und Gebühren im Zusammen-hang mit dem erteilten Mandat selbst aufkommen. Dies gilt in der Regel auch im Fall eines gewonnenen Prozesses. Da die Korrespondenzsprache in jedem Fall Englisch ist, werden die Tätigkeits-bereiche und Spezialisierungen bereits in dieser Liste mit den englischen Termini aufgeführt. Aufgrund der prekären Sicherheitslage und der schlechten Verkehrsverhältnisse

wird von einer Referendartätigkeit oder einem juristischen Praktikum in Nigeria ab-

geraten.
