    Die altere Literatur bis zum Jahre 1922 findet sich in der Monographie von G. MINGAZ- ZINI "Der Balken". Die Literatur zur Physiologie von Hypothalamus, Area praeoptica und Septum sowie angrenzender Balken- und Stirnhirnbereiche ist dargestellt bei W. R. HESS, M. BRUGGER U. V. BUCHER (1946). Eine ausfiihrliche Literaturzusammenstellung gaben F. BREMER, J. BRIHAYE U. G. ANDRE-BALISAUX (1956). Die Literatur iiber die Tumoren der Balkenregion findet sich in der Arbeit von H. J. COLMANT U. W. GROTE (1959). Ober das Cavum septi pellucidi und das sogenannte Cavum Vergae berichteten H. GRAHMANN U. U. H. PETERS (1964) und BERGLEITER u. FEKAS (1964). Die Kolloidcysten des Septum pellu- cidum und der Seitenventrikel wurden von DE MORSIER (1962) abgehandelt. Eine kompara- tiv-anatomische Stu die iiber das Septum bei Insectivoren und Primaten haben STEPHAN u. ANDY (1962) vorgelegt, iiber das Septum der Katze berichteten ANDY u. STEPHAN (1964). Die Ergebnisse eines Symposiums der eIBA Foundation Study Group iiber die "Functions of the Corpus callosum" sind in einer ausgezeichneten Monographie (1965) zusammengefaik Hier findet sich eine Darstellung der experimentellen Forschung der letzten 15 Jahre.
