Next week is a busy week of celebration and farewells for Year 13 students. They have been a year group with lots of personality and we will miss them, so planning to send them off on exam leave with much joy and thankfulness. They are taonga and will always be part of the Marcellin whānau. Thanksgiving Mass is on Tuesday (29 October) at 11.15am where we celebrate 2019 and the 5-7 year journey our Year 13 students have had at Marcellin. We would love whānau to join us for this celebration. Our year 13 have their leavers assembly the following day where they have a final chance to address and entertain the school, and then it is year level liturgies on the Thursday morning. Thursday evening (31 October) at 7pm is our Senior Prizegiving and whānau are encouraged to attend and support students as we celebrate academic success. Prefects for 2020 will also be announced this evening, and after prizegiving senior students are officially on study leave. Our Prefect team this year have really shaped and enhanced our family spirit, students refer to this as ‘the bond’. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful and caring students who go out of their way to serve others and this has been exemplified by the prefects in 2019. The school environment is richer as a result of their hard work. We have a very busy term ahead for Middle school students with camps, trips and in school activities. Term 4 has started very positively, students have returned to school bright and focused. Next week is a busy

week of celebration and farewells for Year 13 students. They have been a year group with lots of personality and

we will miss them, so planning to send them off on exam leave with much joy and thankfulness. They are taonga

and will always be part of the Marcellin whānau.

Senior Finishing Times

The senior students will finish for the year and commencestudy leave on 31 October 2019. They will leave after afinal liturgy for each year level in the chapel on this day.The times will be as follows:

The students will be expected to leave the school groundsafter a liturgy during the respective period and to returnhome to study for their external examinations whichbegin on Friday 8 November. Please encourage yourstudent to make the most of their study leave and to seekassistance from their teachers in the lead up to exams ifthey need support or want to submit practice work forfeedback.

Our Thanksgiving Mass this year is held on Tuesday 29thOctober at 11.30am in the school gymnasium. We wouldlike everyone to please be seated by 11.15am. Allparents/caregivers, families and friends are welcome toattend. The Thanksgiving mass is to celebrate the year2019 and our Year 13 students for the past 5-7 years atschool, before they embark their dreams and futurestudies.

Our annual senior prizegiving this year will be held onThursday 31 October at 7pm in our school gymnasium.Families and friends are welcome to attend but pleasegive time for seating arrangements (6.45pm to beseated).

What’s Been Happening Around the School

Farewell of Mrs Waelen

On the last day of Term 3 we sadly farewelled Mrs Waelen after her five years of service as the Principal of MarcellinCollege. The whole school, staff, families and guests attended the farewell assembly. The assembly was a celebrationof Mrs Waelen’s achievements and the dedication she has given off to our students, families, the Marcellincommunity and last but not least our College to what it is today.

Mrs Waelen is now the Principal of McAuley College and we wish her all the best for the years ahead.

On Sunday 6th October, at the Diocesan Youth Mass, the St Vincent de Paul Society honoured our Young Vinnies leadersfor their dedication to serving those who are in need. We are seeking a motivated property professional to join our small property team in a Project Manager

role focussed in Maintenance Delivery. You are someone who enjoys all aspects of property

maintenance including oversight of development, implementation, coordination, scheduling, budgeting,
