Es ist eine schriftliche Hausarbeit im Umfang von ca. 15 Seiten anzufertigen, deren Inhalte vorab in Form eines Vortrages zupräsentieren sind (ca. 20 Minuten Vortrag, 10 Minuten Diskussion). Eine aktive Teilnahme am Seminar wird erwartet.

Lerninhalte

Das Seminar befasst sich mit der Digitalisierung im öffentlichen Sektor. Es gibt Einblicke in Forschung und Praxis,dabei gibt es auch die Möglichkeit, mit Partnern aus der Praxis zusammenzuarbeiten. Das Themenspektrum reicht vonklassischen E-Government-Anwendungen über Lösungen im öffentlichen Katastrophenschutz bis hin zu Informations- undPartizipationsangeboten im Kontext von Open Government.

Zielgruppe

Zur Hauptzielgruppe gehören Betriebswirte, Wirtschaftsinformatiker, Informatiker und Verwaltungswissenschaftler. Ggf.bestehen weitere Anrechnungsmöglichkeiten. Sprechen Sie dazu mit Ihrer Studienfachberatung.

In the last years, experiments became more and more widely applied - be it in academic research, A/B testing in companies,or large scale experiments in the public sector. In this seminar, students will be introduced to the essentials of understandingand planning state-of-the-art experimental research. Advantages and disadvantages as well as common pitfalls will becovered extensively. Building on this knowledge three selected empirical studies on online social interaction will be criticallydiscussed in class covering topics on emotional contagion, trolling, and online participation. In the last third of the seminar, anew project will be presented and the focus will be on gaining practical experience. Hence, all students will be asked to run theproposed experiment with a few participants. All data will then be aggregated, analyzed, and discussed in class.

A number of social platforms have gained popularity in recent years (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Airbnb, etc). Their breath-taking success manifests itself in millions of user subscriptions, significant time spent on the site, and a steep growthof conducted transactions. Facebook alone has over 2.32 billion monthly active users. By rapidly changing the way wecommunicate, inform ourselves, spend our free time, learn and buy, these platforms transform the society we live in today.Facing this wave of new developments, many keep asking about the meaning and long-term consequences of these changes.

Against this background, this seminar focuses on two related research areas:

• (1) User perceptions and behavior on Social Media and• (2) The value of privacy on Social Media.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

• User Perceptions of Algorithmic Decision Making on Platforms, especially F airness, A ccountability, T ransparency• Privacy Violations on Platforms, especially De-Anonymization in the Form of Doxing• Sentiment Analysis of Consumer Attitudes on YouTube• Social Media Content and its Impact on Individual Perceptions and Behavior• The Change of Communication Behavior on Social Networking Sites over Time• How Machines such as Chatbots Mimic Humans: Systematic literature Review on Mimicing Theories• Corporate Digital Responsibility or Ethics-Washing? Case Studies on how Companies Seek to be Ethical• Privacy Concerns: A Means-End Approach

Students will be asked to get a deep understanding of the topic of their choice, present their findings at the mid-term and finalpresentations and write a final paper. The seminar will be held in English. However, presentations in German are possible.

Der Einfluss von Smartphones und sonstigen mobilen Endgeräten im Zusammenhang mit der Erfassung, Auswertung,Aufbereitung und Nutzung von Daten auf neuartige Weise mittels "Big Data"-Techniken verändert die Beziehung zwischenOrganisationen und Endkunden auf strategischer Ebene. Dabei ist insbesondere der Einfluss zentraler Marktteilnehmer wieApple, Google, Facebook und Amazon auf die Realwirtschaft Gegenstand aktueller Forschung.

Aufbauend auf die Vorlesung Mobile & Digital Business sowie dem zugehörigen Seminar I wurden die Studierenden indas wissenschaftliche Arbeiten eingeführt, an die aktuelle Forschung und tiefgehende Analyse herangeführt und habenselbständig Teilprobleme mit wissenschaftlichen Methoden bearbeitet. Im Seminar Mobile & Digital Business II werden dieseFähigkeiten vertieft angewendet und eine Masterarbeit in diesem Fachgebiet vorbereitet.

Voraussetzung

Das Seminar MDB I wird für M.Sc.-Studenten der WI im 2. Semester mit bestandener Klausur MDB angeboten. Es ist geöffnetfür M.Sc. Studenten des entsprechenden Vertiefungsfachs der BWL (ebenfalls mit bestandener Klausur MDB) und der INF /CS (ohne Voraussetzungen).

Das Seminar führt in das trans- und interdisziplinäre Arbeiten im Kontext der Bioökonomie ein. Bioökonomie ist diewissensbasierte Erzeugung und Nutzung von Biomasse mit dem Ziel, fossile Rohstoffe ganz oder zumindest weitestgehenddurch nachwachsende Rohstoffe zu ersetzen. Der bioökonomische Wandel ist eine gesamtgesellschaftliche Herausforderung,sodass Zusammenarbeit und gegenseitiges Leistungsverständnis von nahezu allen wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen abverlagtwird.Das Seminar wird in Kooperation mit anderen Fachbereichen angeboten. Studierende aus verschiedene Studienfächernhaben in Kleingruppen jeweils eine Fallstudie zur Bioökonomie zu bearbeiten und erhalten hierfür im Rahmen derVeranstaltung wöchentliche Einführungen und angeleitete Teilaufgaben zu Methoden und Arbeitstechniken ausunterschiedlichen Disziplinen: Projektmanagement, Geoinformationssysteme, Satellitenbildauswertung, digital Fabrication(CAD, 3D-Druck, Lasercutting, CNC-Fräsen) mit Biomaterialien, Strategieentwicklung, technikphilosophische Literaturanalyse,haptische Kreativitätstechniken, Aufbereitung und Analyse von Biomasse, ressourcenökonomische Evaluation,Wissenschaftskommunikation.Das Seminar beinhaltet mehrere Exkursionen in Labore und Studios in Potsdam.

Die Themenfelder Industrie 4.0 und IoT in der Fabrik sind ein präsenter Bestandteil der Diskussion um die zukünftigeAusgestaltung und Durchführung von Produktionsprozessen.Es existieren diverse Konzepte und Technologien, die zumindest aus Perspektive der Anbieter als Produkt zur verfügbarstehen. Mit Blick auf die tatsächliche Nutzung in der Praxis scheinen die potenziellen Anwender diesen Optimismus nicht zuteilen: der Einsatz der neuen Problemlöser erfolgt nur zögerlich.Das Seminar thematisiert diesen Widerspruch. Am Beispiel von Augmented und Virtual Reality (AR/VR-Brlllen etc.),kooperativer Robotik (KUKA iiwa) und NewGeneration-PLC erfolgt die Evaluierung des praxisrelevanten Entwicklungsstands.Die Transformation der theoretischen Anwendungspotenziale innerhalb von Produktionssystemen durch die Identifikationgeeigneter Use-cases und die Konzeption aussagekräftiger Szenarien sind ebenfalls Teil des Seminars. Ggf. erfolgt dieUmsetzung in der Simulationsumgebung des Forschungs- und Anwendungszentrums I4.0 Potsdam.

In der Literatur zur Nachhaltigkeit werden IT-Artefakte oftmals als Instrumente charakterisiert, um nachhaltige Entwicklungzu erzielen. Diese Artefakte können aber auch als unternehmerische Ressourcen betrachtet werden, welche nachhaltigausgestaltet sein sollen. Das Ziel der Veranstaltung ist es, ein Verständnis der Möglichkeiten der nachhaltigen Gestaltungvon IT-Artefakten, wie bspw. Informationssystemen und darüber hinaus auch Unternehmensarchitekturen, zu erlangen. Dabeiwerden Inhalte vermittelt und sollen selbständig erarbeitet werden, die sich unter anderem mit theoretischen Konzepten,Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten und Grenzen nachhaltiger Unternehmensarchitekturen und Informationssysteme vor demHintergrund der Digitalisierung beschäftigen.

Die Untersuchung komplexer Systeme erfordert Methoden, welche Entwicklungsdynamiken und -pfade adäquat abbildenkönnen. Simulationen eignen sich, um unterschiedliche Systemtypen zu untersuchen. Für technische Systeme könnenBelastungen und Grenzbereiche getestet werden, welche am Realobjekt nur schwer zu beobachten sind. Die Untersuchungindividueller Systeme ermöglicht ein tieferes Verständnis kognitiver Aktivitäten oder von Hirnfunktionen. Die Betrachtungsozialer Systeme, wie z.B. Organisationen lässt die Entwicklungsdynamik aus menschlicher Interaktion und individuellerEntscheidungsfindung, z.B. bei der Ausbreitung von Neuerungen oder bei der räumlichen Verteilung bestimmter Populationenbesser verstehen. Praktischen Nutzen erfährt die Simulation weiterhin bei der Neugestaltung von Produktionsumgebungenund Geschäftsprozessen, deren testweise Implementierung zu aufwändig und riskant ist.

Lerninhalte

Im Rahmen des Projektkurses versetzen sich die Studierenden in die Lage von Managemementberatern. Sie analysierenkonkrete, praktische Herausforderungen einer öffentlichen Organisation und entwickeln ein entsprechendes Lösungskonzept.Dabei interagieren sie direkt mit dem Kunden, für den als erster Schritt ein Angebot formuliert wird. Um die Studierendengezielt auf diese Aufgabe vorzubereiten, ist ein Workshop mit erfahrenen Beratern vorgesehen. Die eigenständig erarbeitetenErgebnisse werden dem Kunden mündlich und schriftlich präsentiert. Erwartet wird die weitgehend eigenständigeDurchführung von Recherchen, Datenerhebung und Konzeptentwicklung sowie die Erstellung von Präsentationen sowie einesAbschlussberichts bei laufender Betreuung des Projekts durch die Dozierenden.

Die Teilnahme an Auftakt- und Kick-off-Veranstaltung ist zwingend notwendig. Am 8.4. findet die Auftaktveranstaltung statt,bei der über das Format der Veranstaltung, den allgemeinen Ablauf und die Anforderungen an die Teilnehmenden. Die Kick-Off-Veranstaltung mit dem Auftraggeber findet dann voraussichtlich am 15.4. statt.

Auftraggeber wird das Schul- und Sportamt des Bezirksamts Mitte von Berlin sein. Im Projekt wird es um aktuelleHerausforderungen bei Organisation, Planung und Führung bzw. Steuerung mit Zielen sein. Näheres wird der Leiter desAmtes, Herr Lüthke, am 15.4. vorstellen.

A number of social platforms have gained popularity in recent years (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Airbnb, etc). Their breath-taking success manifests itself in millions of user subscriptions, significant time spent on the site, and a steep growthof conducted transactions. Facebook alone has over 2.32 billion monthly active users. By rapidly changing the way wecommunicate, inform ourselves, spend our free time, learn and buy, these platforms transform the society we live in today.Facing this wave of new developments, many keep asking about the meaning and long-term consequences of these changes.

Against this background, this seminar focuses on two related research areas:

• (1) User perceptions and behavior on Social Media and• (2) The value of privacy on Social Media.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

Data is increasingly seen as a driving force behind many industries, ranging from data-driven start-ups to traditionalmanufacturing companies. Recent years have been marked by the hype around big data technologies and the implicationsthat go along with it. In response to these developments, data science has become one of the most demanded specializations.Against this background, this class will introduce students to the fundamentals of data science, using Python. Specifically,the course will start with a short introduction into Python, covering such topics as syntax, basic data types, assignments andreference semantics, complex data types, functions, control of flow, modules, classes and objects, iPython, and debugging.In the next step, the students will be taught the basics of web scraping using Beautiful Soup library as well as learn to accessdata via dedicated APIs (Facebook, Twitter). In the follow-up sessions, the capabilities of NumPy, pandas, matplotlib, seaborn,and also Scikit Learn libraries will be explored to empower students with approaches to data analysis and visualization.

Die Digitalisierung verändert das persönliche Leben des Einzelnen ebenso wie die Welt der Unternehmen, öffentlichenEinrichtungen und sonstigen Organisationen. In Zukunft werden mehr Daten über Produkte, Maschinen und Menschenverfügbar sein, als wir uns heute vorstellen können. "Big Data"-Techniken werden diese in Echtzeit auswerten und dabeidie Regeln verändern, nach denen wir Entscheidungen treffen – und wie über uns Entscheidungen getroffen werden. DieVorlesung beleuchtet technologische Entwicklungen, Hintergründe und Wirkungen, auf das Leben des einzelnen Menschen,auf Unternehmen und Wertschöpfungsnetze bis hin zur Veränderung ganzer Branchen und Volkswirtschaften sowiegesamtgesellschaftlicher Entwicklungen.

Die Vorlesung ist interdisziplinär angelegt. Sie vermittelt Basiswissen, strategische Zusammenhänge und Prognosen künftigerEntwicklungen in Impulsform. Es wird erwartet, dass die Studierenden sich auf Basis dieser Impulse selbständig substantiellesWissen aneignen und einbringen. Diskussion ist ein wesentliches Element der Lehrveranstaltung.

Die Lehrveranstaltung schließt mit einer mündlichen Prüfung ab, in der die Studierenden das erworbene Wissen aus der Sichtvon Einzelpersonen, Unternehmen, öffentlichen Einrichtungen oder sonstigen Organisationen anwenden und auf dieser BasisUrteils- und Gestaltungsfähigkeit für Auswirkungen der Digitalisierung und entsprechende Strategien unter Beweis stellen.

In the last years, experiments became more and more widely applied - be it in academic research, A/B testing in companies,or large scale experiments in the public sector. In this seminar, students will be introduced to the essentials of understandingand planning state-of-the-art experimental research. Advantages and disadvantages as well as common pitfalls will becovered extensively. Building on this knowledge three selected empirical studies on online social interaction will be criticallydiscussed in class covering topics on emotional contagion, trolling, and online participation. In the last third of the seminar, anew project will be presented and the focus will be on gaining practical experience. Hence, all students will be asked to run theproposed experiment with a few participants. All data will then be aggregated, analyzed, and discussed in class.

As consumers spend more and more time on online and especially on Social Media platforms, business and non-for-profitorganizations are rededicating their marketing budgets away from traditional TV and radio advertising to social mediachannels. However, many businesses struggle with their online and Social Media presence. Reflecting these developments,the goal of this course is to familiarize students with the fundamentals of online and Social Media Strategy and the mechanicsof digital marketing campaigns. As part of this course, students will be expected to perform an in-depth situational analysisfor a specific product, company or social cause, including existing weakness, strengths, threats and opportunities. Buildingon this, students will be required to develop a social media strategy for their industry partner and implement it as part of theoriginal social media campaign using one of social media channels (e.g. Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Blog, Instagram).Development of original ”value”-content is a critical component of this course and may include blog posts, videos, photos,and infographics. The timeline of the course includes mid-term and final presentations, as well as the final project report.Presentations and campaigns could be made in either English or German.

Es ist eine schriftliche Hausarbeit im Umfang von ca. 15 Seiten anzufertigen, deren Inhalte vorab in Form eines Vortrages zupräsentieren sind (ca. 20 Minuten Vortrag, 10 Minuten Diskussion). Eine aktive Teilnahme am Seminar wird erwartet.

Lerninhalte

Das Seminar befasst sich mit der Digitalisierung im öffentlichen Sektor. Es gibt Einblicke in Forschung und Praxis,dabei gibt es auch die Möglichkeit, mit Partnern aus der Praxis zusammenzuarbeiten. Das Themenspektrum reicht vonklassischen E-Government-Anwendungen über Lösungen im öffentlichen Katastrophenschutz bis hin zu Informations- undPartizipationsangeboten im Kontext von Open Government.
