GEHEIMNISVOLLER NATURPARKVon der wilden Rhone hin zu Gletschern – von Blütenwiesen hin zu Felsen – von der Sprachgrenze zu einer anderen Mentalität – wie in fast keinem an-deren Gebiet der Schweiz begegnet der Besucher im Naturpark Pfyn-Finges einem breiten, teils gegensätzlichen und darum spannenden Spektrum an Natur und Kultur. Für Einheimische und Besucher ist der Naturpark Pfyn-Finges ein einmaliger Lebens- und Erlebnisraum. Das Gebiet ist reich an Natur-schätzen und geheimnisvollen Orten, die es zu entdecken gilt. In der kultur-trächtigen Region begegnet man nicht nur Pfl anzen und Tieren sondern auch Schlössern, Landsknechten und Hexen!

Der dynamische Biodiversitätshotspot an der SprachgrenzeKernstück des Naturparks bildet das Schutzgebiet Pfynwald, einer der gröss-ten Föhrenwälder der Alpen. Auf 17 km2 ist der Pfynwald einer der bedeu-tendsten Biodiversitätshotspots der Schweiz. Das Gebiet ist nicht nur bei Be-suchern beliebt sondern auch für Forscher hochinteressant.

Die wilde Rhone und Teiche prägen das Bild ebenso wie Steppen, Auengebiete,urwaldähnliche Abschnitte und artenreiche Blumenwiesen. Die Landschaft erzählt viele Geschichten; die Geologie macht sichtbar, wie sich das Gebiet im Verlauf der Jahrhunderte verändert hat. Ein imposanter Zeitzeuge ist der Illgraben – die grösste Rutschbahn der Welt. Eines der aktivsten Wildbachge-rinne der Schweizer Alpen hat einen Erosionstrichter von 10 km2 und besteht aus Quarziten, kalkigen Ablagerungen und Dolomit. In den letzten 10 Jahren wurden pro Jahr rund 35 Murgänge registriert. Durchschnittlich transportiert der Illgraben dann 30‘000 m3, was der Ladung von 3’000 grossen Lastwagen entspricht – pro Ereignis! Das Gebiet zwischen Siders und Gampel ist bekannt für zahlreiche, teils sehr seltene Vogelarten, welche nur noch hier anzutreffen sind.

UN PARC PLEIN DE SECRETSDu Rhône sauvage aux glaciers, des champs de fl eurs aux rochers, d’une langue à une autre, d’une culture à une autre – le Parc naturel Pfyn-Finges offre un éventail incomparable de trésors parfois contradictoires, donc pas-sionnants. Il représente un espace de vie et de découverte unique, pour ses habitants comme pour ses visiteurs. Le Parc possède de nombreuses richesses naturelles et de lieux secrets à découvrir. Outre ses animaux et ses plantes, cette région au riche passé culturel est constellée de châteaux, de lansquenets et de sorcières !

Un haut lieu de la biodiversité à la frontière des languesAu cœur du parc se trouve le Bois de Finges, cette zone protégée qui, sur 17 km2, inclut l’une des plus grandes pinèdes des Alpes. Cette région, l’un des sites les plus importants de biodiversité en Suisse, est un paradis pour les visiteurs comme pour les chercheurs. Ici, le paysage est façonné par le Rhône sauvage, des étangs, des steppes, une forêt alluviale, des zones similaires à une forêt vierge et des prairies où poussent une grande variété de fl eurs. Il vous raconte des histoires : la géologie montre clairement comment cette zone a évolué au fi l des siècles.

Tel un gardien du temps, l’Illgraben – le plus grand toboggan du monde – est l’un des torrents les plus actifs des Alpes suisses. Son cône de déjection, de 10 km2, est constitué de quartzite, de conglomérats calcaires et de dolomite. Depuis dix ans, près de 35 coulées de laves torrentielles ont été enregistrées chaque année. En moyenne, chacune d’entre elle emporte 30’000 m3 de matériaux, ce qui représente 3’000 poids-lourds ! Enfi n, la région de Sierre à Gampel est connue pour ses innombrables espèces d’oiseaux, dont certaines très rares, que l’on peut encore observer ici.

MYSTERIOUS NATURE PARKMore than in almost any other region of Switzerland the visitor is confront-ed with a widely contrasting and fascinating spectrum of nature and culture ranging from the wild River Rhone up to the glaciers, from fl ower meadows to rock faces, and from the language boundary to another mentality. It is a unique space to live in and experience for both local inhabitants and visitors. The Pfyn-Finges Nature Park has an abundance of natural resources and mys-terious places to be discovered. In this culturally rich region you do not only come across plants and animals, but also castles, mercenaries and witches!

The place of unusual dynamic biodiversity at the language boundaryThe heart of the nature park is the Pfyn forest natural reserve, one of the largest pine forests in the Alps. The forest of Pfyn covers 17 km2 and is one of the most important places of biodiversity in Switzerland. The region is not only popular with visitors but is also extremely interesting for researchers. The wild River Rhone and the ponds characterise the area as do the steppes, water meadows, jungle-like stretches and fl ower meadows rich in species. The landscape tells many stories; the geology here shows what has changed during the course of the centuries.

An imposing contemporary witness is the Illgraben – the largest slide in the world. One of the wildest torrent channels in the Swiss Alps has an erosion cra-ter of 10 km2 and consists of quartzite, limestone deposits and dolomite. Over the past 10 years, 35 mudslides per year have been registered. On average,the Illgraben transports 30,000 m3 of material, which corresponds to 3,000 fully-loaded big lorries – every time! The area between Siders / Sierre and Gampel is renowned for its numerous, some very rare species of birds, which can only be found here.

SCHUTZGEBIET PFYNWALDFür das Schutzgebiet Pfynwald gelten folgende gesetzlichen Bestimmungen:

Das Baden in den Teichen ist verboten. Das Entfachen von Feuer ist streng verboten! Es ist untersagt, Blumen zu pfl ücken, Pfl anzen & Sträucher herauszureissen. Hunde sind willkommen, müssen aber an der Leine geführt werden. Bitte die markierten Wege nicht verlassen.

LA RÉSERVE NATURELLE DU BOIS DE FINGESLes règles suivantes doivent être respectées dans la réserve du Bois de Finges :

Il est interdit de se baigner dans les étangs. Il est formellement interdit de faire du feu ! Il est défendu de cueillir des fl eurs, des plantes et d’arracher des arbustes. Les chiens sont les bienvenus mais doivent toutefois être tenus en laisse. Veuillez ne pas quitter les chemins balisés.

Swimming in the lakes is forbidden. The lighting of fi res is strictly forbidden in the Pfynwald! Admire the plants, fl owers and bushes but do not uproot them. Keep your dog on a lead. Please keep to the signed footpaths.
