Die Festung Michelsberg ist ein großes Artilleriewerk, gebaut von 1930 bis 1937. Diese besteht aus einem Eingang für Mannschaft und Material und 5

Kampfblöcken. Die Kampfblöcke konnten mit ihnen 8 Kanonen und unzähli-

gen Infanteriewaffen 1t Munition pro Minute verschießen. Der Geschütz-

turm des Block 5 gehört mit seinen 256 t Gewicht zu dem schwersten der

Maginotlinie. Die 515 man starke Truppe konnte erfolgreich den Angriff im

Juni 1940 verhindern, aber musste trotzdem unbesiegt in Kriegsgefangen-

Consisted of a main entrance and 5 active blocks , this

work was equipped with 8 artillery and dozens of rifles

and machine guns. Its armament allowed it to fire one

ton of shell a minute. The block 5 contains a turret of

75 which is the biggest model of the Maginot line and

which is a heavy and complex equipment weighing 265

tons.

Its crew of 515 men was heroic in 1940. It set a deep

resistance against the German attack of June 22nd,

1940. The work artillery fired more than 6200 shells. It

is "unconquered" that the armistice imposed the end

of the fight to its crew.

Construit entre 1930 et 1937, le Michels-berg est un gros ouvrage d’artillerie de la

célèbre ligne Maginot.

Composé d’une entrée et de 5 blocs de combat, cet ouvrage était armé de 8 canons et plusieurs dizaines de fusils et mitrailleuses. Son armement lui permettait de tirer une tonne d’obus à la mi-nute. Le bloc 5 comporte une tourelle de 75 qui est le plus gros modèle de la ligne Maginot et qui a une masse de 265 tonnes.

Son équipage de 515 hommes fut héroïque en op-posant une vive résistance à l’attaque allemande du 22 Juin 1940. Ses canons tirèrent plus de 6200 obus. C’est « invaincu » que l’armistice imposa la fin du combat à ses hommes.
