This knowledge was acquired under the previous company setups and names HEK GmbH, MCP HEK Tooling GmbH, MTT Technologies GmbH and finally today SLM Solutions GmbH. In autum 2010 SLM Solutions GmbH was separated from the previous MTT Technologies Group. The new company structure is focused on developing innovative solutions and quality.

Schnelle Herstellung von gegossenen MetallteilenDas Rapid Metall Casting (RMC) Verfahren der SLM Solutions wurde speziell fr schnell und preiswert herzustellende Metallteile fr Pro-totypen und Vorserien entwickelt. Fr dieses Verfahren werden Modelle in eine Keramik-masse eingebettet und ausgeschmolzen. Die Keramik-Hohlform wird dann in der RMC-An-lage entweder unter Vakuum, berdruck oder Schwerkraft mit Metall gefllt.

Nach dem Befllen mit dem Giematerial wird der Deckel geschlossen und der Aufheizvorgang gestartet. Das kann mit manueller Temperatur-vorwahl oder programmgesteuert erfolgen, je nach Modell. Das Schmelzgut wird unter Schutz-gas-Atmosphre geschmolzen, um Lunkerbil-dung und Oxidation zu verhindern.

Alle wichtigen Schritte des Gievorgangs werden computergesteuert geregelt. Der Schmelzvorgang dauert nur wenige Minuten, abhngig von der Menge und Art des Metalls. Der Gievorgang erfolgt inner-halb weniger Sekunden automatisch mit perfekten Ergebnissen. Anschlieend erfolgt die Entformung und Reinigung des erstellten Gussteils.

Rapid production of cast metal parts

The Rapid Metall Casting (RMC) process of SLM Solutions has been designed specifically to meet the increasing demand for quick, economical metal castings for prototype and pre-series runs. To apply this new package process, models are required, which are encapsulated in ceramic and heated to leave a cavity which is filled with metal either under vacuum, pressure or gravity using the RMC-Equipment.

After filling with casting material, the cover is closed and the heating process get started. The manual temperature can be preset or may be programed, depending on the model you are working with. The melting material is melted under inert gas atmosphere to prevent formati-on of voids and oxidation.

All the major steps of the casting process are controlled by computer control. The melting process takes only a few minutes, depending on the amount and type of metal. The cas-ting process takes a few seconds with perfect results. This is followed by mold removal and cleaning of the castings produced.

Wie bei allen anderen SLM Solutions Giemaschi-nen, setzt das Grundprinzip der RMC-Serie auf die Kombination von Vakuum und Druck. Es beschleu-nigt den Gieprozess und erreicht damit eine ber-legene Gussqualitt. Innerhalb krzester Zeit wird eine auerordentlich dichte und homogene Struktur erzeugt. Darber hinaus ist Gieen unter Vakuum und Druck eine saubere Sache - kein Schmutz, keine Dmpfe und keine Wrmeabstrahlung.

Die Vakuum-Druckguss-Kammer besteht aus dickwandigen Stahl, die auch sehr gut fr ssiges Aluminium geeignet ist . Fr die Konstruktion der Maschine, werden nur die besten und modernsten Materialien verwendet, die sorgfltig getestet und geprft wurden. Von ebenso groer Bedeutung ist die Sicherheit des Bedieners.

Diese automatisierten und computergesteuerten Feingussmaschinen wurden zur schnellen Herstel-lung von Prototypen in der Produktentwicklung, fr einzelne Teile oder begrenzte Stckzahlen in Fein-guss, als Spritzgussmatritzen fr Kunststoff- oder Vulkanisierformen entwickelt. Sie stellen das Herz-stck eines kompletten Systems dar und werden durch Module und optionales Zubehr zur Abbildung der gesamten Prozesskette ergnzt.

Effi ciency and economy, ease of operation and maintenance: these are the factors perfectly met by all SLM Solutions Vacuum & Pressure Cas-ting Machines. This particularly applies to the product line for cast non-ferrous metals - the RMC-series.

As with all the other SLM Solutions casting machines, the basic principle of the RMC-series relies on the combination of vacuum and pressu-re. It considerably accelerates the casting process and thus, achieves a superior casting quality: within almost no time, an extraordinarily dense and homogeneous structure is generated. Moreo-ver, casting under vacuum and pressure is a clean affair without dirt, vapors and heat emission.

The vacuum-casting-chamber is made off thick-walled steel which is also very well appropriated to liquid aluminium. During the construction of the machine, only the best, up-to-date materials are used, which are tested carefully. Similarly im-portant priority is the implementation for utmost operator safety.

Designed to rapidly manufacture functional prototypes in product development, for single parts or limited precision casting production runs, injection molding dies for plastic or vul-canizing molds, these automated and program controlled precision casting machines repre-sent the centerpiece of a complete system. They are perfectly supplemented by modules for the entire process chain.
