It is located in the Horn of Africa, very close to the Middle East. The total area of the country is about 1.1 million square kilometers. The majority of the population lives in the highland areas of the country—the main occupation being farming. In fact, Ethiopia is one of the least urbanized countries in the world, with less than 14 percent of the country urbanized in 1994.
