For this reason the attack side and the security side must be absolutely considered with the order and with the installation. The security side is indicated by the manufacture factory by an appropriate label. All SGG STADIP® PROTECT types are permanently indicateded of the manufacture factory. For glazings with SGG STADIP® PROTECT the special glazing guidelines are to be considered. After the PVB has been placed between the glass sheets, the whole assembly is subjected to heat and pressure in an autoclave. This results in the complete adhesion of the vinyl interlayers and glass. In the event of breakage, the glass fragments remain bonded to the PVB interlayer. In a fully framed conventional* installation the glass fragments are held together and the glass retains a residual strength while awaiting replacement. Saint –Gobain Deutsche Glas – KINON Porz Sicherheitsglas GmbH 11.01.2005 13:26 Applications: Glazings with SGG STADIP PROTECT are suitable, depending upon resistance class, for numerous safetysensitive areas: IMPACT RESISTANT glass (CLASS P-A): Glazings of windows and french windows to the failure protection within the private living area. MANUEL ATTACK RESISTANT (CLASS P-B): Glazings of windows, shop windows and doors against failure at private and firms and against outbreak from psychiatric hospitals and penal institutions, also as glazings of animal cages and aquariums. BULLET RESISTANT (CLASS BR): Glazings of banks, military systems and other administrative and firms as well as protection of individuals. BLAST RESISTANT (CLASS D): Glazing of public buildings such as airports, military systems and embassys. Range: SGG STADIP® PROTECT P-A Impact-resistant in accordance with DIN EN 356 A A continuous increase in the number of burglaries and more and more damage caused by vandalism necessitate greater saftey and security in private and public areas. DIN EN 356 A determines the test conditions for impact resistant glazing. The requirement with respect to resistance to impacts is devided into five resistance categories. The division into categories is determined by the striking energy of heavy missiles. The resistance categories ranges of application can be assigned. The testing method is a ball drop test. Each pane must withstand three impacts of a steel ball weighing about 4 kg. The drop heights for the individual categories are as follows: Category P1A = 1.5 m Category P3A = 6.0 m Category P5A = 9.0 m *) Category P2A = 3.0 m Category P4A = 9.0 m *) with nine impacts of a 4 kg steel ball.

Saint –Gobain Deutsche Glas – KINON Porz Sicherheitsglas GmbH 11.01.2005 13:26 SGG STADIP® PROTECT P-B manuel attack-resistant in accordance with DIN EN 356 B This DIN determines the test conditions for break-through-resistant glazings against manuel attacks with a striking tool with cutting power. In the test method, attacks under worst case conditions are assumed. The test is performed with a machine which simulates the attack with a hand-held heavy axe (2kg). In the test it is determined how many blows with the axe are required to break open an area of 400 x 400 mm. The glazing is devided into following three resistance categories: Category P6B = 30 – 50 blows Category P7B = 51 – 70 blows Category P8B = more than 70 blows The test certificates and VdS acknowledgments are present. The VdS acknowledgment is bound to the check with the VdS. Break-through resistant windows, doors and terminations are proofed according to DIN EN V 1627. The request for the VdS acknowledgment are determined in the VdS guidelines 2534.

The shock wave, during expolsions, dependent on quantity of explosive and distance of place of detonation will captured by the glazing. In the same time the glazing protects against splinter. Condition of testing: DIN EN 13541 describes the procedure for proof of characteristic conc. Impact-resistant glazings and will be divide in four resistant categories. The test simulate an approx. TNT-blastvertical attack on a surface, detonated from a corresponding distance. The divide of the glazings will be seperated in four resistant groups. Saint –Gobain Deutsche Glas – KINON Porz Sicherheitsglas GmbH 11.01.2005 13:26 SGG STADIP® PROTECT with SGG SECURIT® ALARM Alarm system with wire loop burnt into SGG SECURIT® glass (DP 2404278 and DP 127892) An electrically conducting wire loop is burnt into the inside top corner of a SGG SECURIT® pane. The loop is connected to the alarm system. If the glass is cracked, the wire is torn and an alarm is set off. Resistances of the alarm wire loops The connection resistance of SGG SECURIT® ALARM does not depend on the size of the pane. The loop resistance is between 3 and 12 ohm, according to the design, and is stated on the sticker affixed to the pane. For the design of the alarm installation, this system has the advantage that each pane has roughly the same resistance, irrespective of the pane size. The maximum current load may not exceed 0,5 A. Electrical connection The electrical connection must be made in such way that unimpeded current flow is guaranteed. It must be assured that the stranded copper wire is flexible, so that it will not break. The power supply must be laid in such way that the connecting lugs are not subjected to mechanical stress. The connecting lugs must be protected by flexible insulation tubes. General notes When using SECURIT® ALARM in conjunction with SGG STADIP® PROTECT units the maximum dimensions of SGG SECURIT® must be observed. Maximum dimensions Glass thickness Width x height6mm 2100 x 3660 mm

Edge displacement may occur with all combinations of laminated glass with SGG SECURIT® ALARM. Any modification to the laminated panel is technically not feasible. Claims in this respect are excluded.

Saint –Gobain Deutsche Glas – KINON Porz Sicherheitsglas GmbH 11.01.2005 13:26 SGG STADIP® PROTECT with alarm wire Besides the optimum burglar-resistant characteristics of SGG STADIP® PROTECT laminated glass, further protection is obtained by providing the panes with alarm systems. Wire loops burnt into the pane or alarm wire inserted between the glass and the interlayer set off an alarm if the wire is broken, due to the pane being damaged. An electrically conducting silver wire is laid in meander fashion on the interlayer between two panes of a SGG STADIP® PROTECT unit. If the pane is damaged and the wire torn an alarm is set off. The connection resistance depends on the size of the pane. SGG STADIP® PROTECT with alarm wire has been tested by the German Association of Property Insurers (VdS) and approved under licence no. G 181104. CHARACTERISTICS Wire insert - fine silver wire, 0,1 mm thick - resistance approx. 1,75 Ω/m - maximum current load 0,5 Amp. The temperature induced resistance change is 0,004 Ω/Kelvin, that means, for the application in question the total pane resistance can fluctuate upwards and downwards by a maximum of 10% due to temperature variations. If higher electrical resistance or a greater breaking sensitivity of the alarm wire is desired, it is possible to replace the fine silver wire by other materials. Please inquire. Wire pattern The wire runs in parallel lines with a normal spacing of 35mm. However, other wire spacings outside the scope of the VdS approval are technically possible. Due to the low tensile strength of the alarm wire and the greater number of interlayers within SGG STADIP® PROTECT, fitted with an alarm wire, it is possible, that deviations from the parallel, may occur.

Examples of the wire patterns and positions of connection points viewed from outside Surface fixed alarm wire (ADF) The connection sockets are situated on the room side on the visible surface of the pane at a distance of 35mm from the edge of the glass. The connection wires are 30mm to 50mm long and must not be shortened. The connections sockets must be protected by the PVC protective scaps supplied. The caps must be slid over the connection wires emerging from the pane and pressed into the hole. The connection wires must be protected by a flexible insulating tube, one end of which is pushed into the protective cap. Edge-fixed-alarm wire (ADR) The connection wires are situated in the rebate area. The glass unit has no protruding parts resulting from the connection. Glazing must be performed in accordance with our guidelines. This also applies to the connection of the alarm signalling system. You will find the relevant information in the Technical Information – Glazing instructions.
