A mould ed p lug comp lying with BS1363 is fitted to th is equipment for your safety

and convenience.Should the fuse in the p lug sup plied need to be rep laced, a 5 AMP fuse approved byASTA or BSI to BS 1362 (i.e. marked with or ) must be used.

The wire wh ich is coloured green-and-yellow mu st be connected to the term inal in the

plug wh ich is marked by the letter E or by the safety earth symbol I or colouredgreen or green-and-yellow. The wire wh ich is coloured blue must be connected to theterminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black. The w ire which iscoloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter Lor coloured red.

WARNING To prevent the r isk of electric shock, do not insert the plug cut off from the m ains

lead into a socket outlet. This plug cannot be u sed and should be destroyed. To prevent the r isk of fire or electric shock, do not expose the unit to rain or

This set is to op erate on a 220-240V AC sup ply only. Take carenot to connect too man yapp liances to the same powersocket as this could resu lt in fireor electric shock.

Do not cover the ven tilationopenings of the TV. Forventilation, leave a space of atleast 10 cm all around the set.

Clean the TV with a soft, slightly

dam pened cloth. Do not usebenzine, thinner or any otherchemicals to clean the TV. Do notscratch the TV screen. As a safetyprecaution, unplug the TV beforecleaning it.

Place the TV on a secure stablestand. Do not allow children toclimb on to it. Do not place the TVon its side or face up .

For environmental an d safetyreasons, it is recomm ended thatthe TV set is not left in stan dbymod e when not in u se. Disconnectfrom th e mains.

For your ow n safety, do not tou chany p art of the TV, power lead oraerial lead du ring lightningstorms.

Never p lace the TV in hot, hum idor excessively du sty p laces. Do notinstall the TV wh ere it may beexposed to mechanical vibrations.

Pull out the power lead by theplug. Do not pull on the powerlead itself.

Unplug th e power lead beforemoving the TV. Avoid un even

surfaces, quick steps or excessiveforce. If the set has been d roppedor damaged, have it checkedimmediately by qua lified servicepersonnel.

Additional Safety Informat ion

LCD screen Although the LCD screen is made with high-precision technology and h as

effective p ixels of 99.99 % or more, black d ots may app ear or bright points of light

(red, blue, or green) may appear constantly on the LCD screen. This is a structuralprop erty of the LCD panel and is not a malfun ction. Do not expose the LCD screen surface to the sun. Doing so may d amage the

screen surface. Do not pu sh or scratch the front filter, or place objects on top of the TV. The image

may be un even or the LCD panel may be dam aged. If the TV is used in a cold place, a smear m ay occur in the picture or the p icture

may become dark. This does not indicate a failure. These phenomena improve asthe temperature rises.

Ghosting may occur when still pictures are displayed continuou sly. It maydisapp ear after a few moments.

The screen and cabinet get warm w hen the TV is in use. This is not a malfunction.Fluorescent lampThis TV uses a special fluorescent lamp as its light source. If the screen imagebecomes dark, flickers, or does not ap pear, the fluorescent lamp has ru n d own andshou ld be replaced. For replacement , consult qualified service personnel.

Cleaning the screen surfaceThe screen su rface is finished with a special coating to p revent strong lightreflections. Be sure to observe the following p recautions to avoid damaging thefinish.

To remove dust from the screen surface, wipe gently with the sup plied cleaningcloth.If dust is persistent, wipe w ith the cleaning cloth slightly moistened with a dilutedmild detergent solution. You can wash and rep eated ly use the cleaning cloth.

Never use any type of abrasive pad, alkaline/ acid cleaner, scouring powd er orstrong solvent such as alcohol, benzene or thinner.

Carrying the TV Before carrying the TV, disconnect all the cables from the TV. If it drops, a serious

injury may result. When you carry the TV for repair or moving, pack it using the original carton and

packing m aterial. When you carry the TV by hand hold it at the top and bottom. Do not hold the

rear cover only.

1 Hold the rear cover as illustrated, and

slide it up ward by about 10 mm .

2 Pull the rear cover toward you .

To replace the rear cover

1 Hold the rear cover as illustrated, andalign the four projections on the rearcover with the hook h oles on the TV.(The rear cover may protru de from theTV by abou t 10 mm .)

2 While pu shing the rear cover toward theTV, slide it downw ard .

Set up your TV automatically (Auto Startup)

When you turn on the TV for the first time, a menu screen sequence appears on th eTV enabling you to set up your TV easily.

1Connect the TV to the mains socket (220 - 240 V AC, 50 Hz).

2 Press =/ 1 to turn on the TV.The LANGUAGE m enuapp ears au tomatically forAuto Startup w hen youturn ed on the TV for thefirst time.

Note To perform Au to Startup later, press0 on th e rear p anel of the TV.

3 Pressv orV on theremote to select thelanguage, then press OK.

Now, all the menus w illappear in the selectedlanguage.

Enjoying teletext

Teletext is an information servicetransmitted by most TV stations. Theindex page of the teletext service(usually page 100) gives youinformation on how to use the service.

Note Make sure you use a channel (TV broadcast)

with a strong signal, otherw ise teletext errorsmay occur.

To switch on teletextSelect the channel (TV broadcast) whichcarries the teletext you wish to view, andpress/.

To select a teletext pageInpu t three digits for the page nu mber using the number buttons.

If you have mad e a mistake, retype the correct page num ber. If the counter on the screen continues searching, it is because this page is

not available. In that case, inpu t another page nu mber.

Operating optionalcomponents

The supplied remote is set to operate Sony DVDs andmost Sony VCRs. To control the VCRs and DVDs ofother brand s and certain Sony VCR mod els, set upthe remote as follows.

Sett ing up the remote to w ork w iththe connected equipment

(1) Press Media Selector repeatedly until the VCR orDVD green light lights.

Note If Media Selector is in the TV position, code nu mbers will not be stored.(2) Before the green light goes out, press and hold the yellow button for

approximately six seconds until the green light star ts flashing.(3) While the green light is flashing, enter the three digits of the code for your brand

(see the list below) using the nu mber buttons.If you entered the code correctly, all three green lights will light mom entar ily.

(4) Turn on your VCR or DVD and check that the main functions work.Notes If your equipm ent is not working or some of the functions do not work, check you

entered th e code correctly, or try the next code listed for the brand . Your bran d codes may be lost if the batteries are weak. To reset your DVD or VCR code

nu mber, repeat the above steps. A small label is attached inside the batterycomp artment lid to allow you to record you r brand codes.

Not all brands are covered and not all models of every brand m ay be covered.

Setting the SLEEP TIMER

The TIMER menu allows you to setthe SLEEP TIMER to turn the TV

automatically to the stand by mode aftera specified period of time.

Im Men TIMER knnen Sie denABSCHALTTIMER einstellen, mit

dem das Fernsehgert nach einerbestimm ten Zeit automatisch in denBereitschaftsmodus geschaltet wird .

1 Drcken Sie MENU.

2 Whlen Sie mit v oder Vdie Opt ion TIMER ausund drcken Sie OK.

3 Drcken Sie b oder OK.

4 Whlen Sie mit v oder V diegewnschte Zeit aus, nachder das Fernsehgertautomat isch in denBereitschaftsmodusgeschaltet wird.

Sie knnen nacheinander AUS, 0:30, 1:00, 1:30 und 2:00 au swhlen.

5 Besttigen Sie die Einstellung mit OK.


So lassen Sie die restliche Zeit anzeigen Drcken Sie MENU, whlen Sie TIMER und drcken Sie dan n

OK, um das Men ABSCHALTTIMER aufzurufen. Die restliche Zeit wird fnf Minuten und eine Minute vor der

Zeit, zu d er das Fernsehgert autom atisch in denBereitschaftmodus geschaltet wird, angezeigt.

So nehmen Sie eine Feineinstellung eines Senders vorNormalerweise erzielen Sie mit AFT: AN d as bestmgliche Bild.Sie knnen den Send er jedoch auch fein einstellen, wenn das Bildtrotz AFT: AN verzerrt ist.

Stellen Sie den Sender ein, rufen Sie das Men MAN UELLE

SPEICHERUNG au f und whlen Sie AFT. Stellen Sie dann mitB

oder b einen Wert zw ischen -15 und +15 ein. Whlen Sie dieEinstellung, bei der das bestmgliche Bild erzielt wird .

Hinweis Wenn Sie nach der Feineinstellung d ie Funktion SUCHE ausfh ren,

wird AFT automatisch au f AN zur ckgesetzt.

So benennen Sie gespeicherte SenderSie knnen jedem gespeicherten Send er einen N amen mit bis zu fn fZeichen zu w eisen (Zah len od er Buchstaben, zu m Beispiel BBC).
