Residents are being urged to join a Riddell District Football League club’s public stand against family violence.

Ahead of a major event on April 17, Macedon Football Club is encouraging people to promise to never turn a blind eye to violence against women and children.

Former Australian of the year and Mount Macedon resident Athol Guy will interview this year’s receiver of the same honour, domestic violence campaigner Rosie Batty, at Macedon’s Jubilee Hall from 7pm.

Ms Batty will also be made the club’s number one ticketholder.

Margaret Singe, of Victoria Police’s Bendigo region family violence unit, will also speak.

Club president Terry Kernan said family violence was a scourge that had to be stopped.

Data released by the Crime Statistics Agency late last month revealed that, on average, more than one family incident was reported in the Macedon Ranges every day in 2014.

A total of 388 family incidents were recorded in the area, compared with 413 in 2013. Only 194 reports were received in 2010.

‘‘Family violence of any kind is absolutely unacceptable,’’ Kernan said. ‘‘We need the community to come with us on this. We have to make sure as a society that it’s never tolerated.’’

Kernan said footballers and netballers had been quick to support the event, part of a broader plan to promote a positive, community-focused culture.

�e club is also considering launching a domestic violence education program.

expressed a particular interest in social justice had been outspoken in their approval of the Jubilee Hall anti-violence event. Money raised will be donated to the Luke Batty Foundation. Tickets, covering a two-course meal and drinks, cost $95.

Macedon Ranges council is also encouraging people to join the conversation about ending family violence.

A �breglass artwork, �e Elephant in the Room, will be displayed at the football club event and will also be at local libraries from this month. �e artwork is on display in Romsey until April 14.

White Ribbon ambassador Cr John Connor urged people to see the work and learn more about the issue.

‘‘All women have the right to safe and respectful relationships and to live free from violence,’’ Cr Connor said. ‘‘Everyone has a role to play in preventing violence against women and developing a culture of respect and equity.’’

�e council recently endorsed a statement of commitment for the prevention of violence against women.

Mayor Jennifer Anderson said it was the �rst commitment of its kind by the council. ‘‘�is … sets out how we will work to prevent violence against women and is our local contribution towards achieving the national vision of Australian women and children living free from violence in safe communities,’’ she said.

‘‘We lost one customer who said if I can’t smoke here I’m leaving, but he hadn’t even ordered a co�ee, so I wasn’t too concerned,’’ she said.

Businesses are being o�ered help to declare their outdoor dining areas smoke-free as part of a free Macedon Ranges council scheme.

Macedon Ranges council’s assets and operations director Dale �ornton said businesses signing up to the program would receive shop-front signage and promotion, including in newsletters and social media.

Melbourne lord mayor Robert Doyle last week proposed a blanket ban on people lighting up outside the CBD’s restaurants and cafes.

Business owners and health experts in Sunbury are also preparing a proposal urging

Hume council to ban smoking in the popular O’Shannassy Street dining precinct.

Mr �ornton said while Macedon Ranges council had previously considered a blanket ban on smoking in alfresco areas, its preferred approach was to empower businesses to tackle the problem themselves.

‘‘We are pleased that �ve businesses have signed up voluntarily and encourage others to do the same,’’ he said. ‘‘�rough further promotion and consultation with businesses, we hope that more will see the bene�ts … for both their sta� and their customers.’’

Smoke-free alfresco gains traction

Residents should still be given another chance to have their say about whether Sunbury should be split from Hume, the Australian Services Union (ASU) has stated.

As reported by Star Weekly, the council split has been delayed until July 1 next year in order to address costing and service delivery queries.

Local Government Minister Natalie Hutchins said too many questions remained unanswered about the separation, which had been scheduled for July 1 this year.

ASU secretary Richard Du�y said more than 7500 people had signed a petition calling for a compulsory vote.

A non-compulsory poll of Hume residents in October 2013 found 60 per cent of people favoured separation.

‘‘Given the information that has come out a�er the �rst vote, I think it is only fair to have a second vote,’’ Mr Du�y said. ‘‘Win, lose or draw, we’ll have to stand by the result.’’

Ms Hutchins has not ruled out a compulsory vote, saying she was not going to pre-empt the work of auditors, who are due to report back by the end of this year.

Mr Du�y said union members were extremely pleased the separation would not be ‘‘rushed’’.

‘‘�ey [members] were extremely worried about where they were going to work, whether they were going to be forced to move.

“�ere was so much uncertainty, whereas now there is some breathing space,’’ he said. Sunbury Residents Association president Bernie O’Farrell said suggestions there had not been enough consultation were ‘‘hogwash’’ and that a report commissioned by the previous government found the separation was viable.

‘‘�e former Liberal government was implementing the wishes of the community, especially in Sunbury,’’ Mr O’Farrell said.

Almost 900 people had voted in a Star Weekly poll on the issue by last �ursday. More than 55 per cent of them said the government should go ahead with the original plan for July 1.

�ere were 32.7 per cent of respondents who said the decision to delay the split was appropriate, while almost 12 per cent called for the entire plan to be abandoned.

‘No rush’ on Hume split

Youth workers are calling for better transport options and more incentives for companies to invest in areas of high unemployment.

�e call comes amid fears that many Sunbury young people are falling through a ‘‘chasm’’ in their transition from school to work.

Young people are being urged to enhance their suitability by acquiring vocational education skills, choosing courses carefully.

Victoria ended 2014 with the highest yearly average youth unemployment rate since the 1990s at 14.6 per cent.

On Melbourne’s north-western fringe, including Sunbury, this �gure was slightly higher at 14.8 per cent.

She said young people were ‘‘falling through a chasm, rather than the cracks’’ in the transition to work.

Ms Raymond said a contraction in the job market in Melbourne’s north and a lack of transport to areas of job vacancy were major problems for Sunbury residents.

‘‘Almost all job growth is in the inner city so, for many young people, they face a long, expensive and complicated commute.’’

Ms Raymond said delayed entry into the job market for early school leavers was also causing lifelong impact through ‘‘wage scarring’’.

‘‘People get entrenched in a life of low paid, insecure work from early in their life and �nd it very di�cult to break out into better paid work or study.’’

She said it was critical that young people built up motivation, skills and work experience early in life to prevent this trajectory.

Sunbury resident Dylan, 20 (pictured), recently secured casual employment as a labourer a�er completing programs with Youth Projects. He said the courses helped him gain con�dence, employment skills and enthusiasm.

Ms Raymond said with the right support, many young jobseekers were able to ‘‘turn it around’’. She said choosing the right courses could also give them an edge.

‘‘Even one short course builds your resume and sets your application apart from others.’’

Di�culties �nding younger supporters has led to the disbanding of a group that has been raising funds for Kyneton hospital since 1947.

Kyneton District Health (KDH) board president Peter Matthews said, while the closure of the hospital auxiliary marked the end of an era, it was a chance to pursue new ways of fundraising.

He said the hospital would continue to be supported by a growing band of volunteers but the days of organising cake stalls and book sales are over.

�e Kyneton hospital auxiliary was the Macedon Ranges’ longest-serving, with other groups in Langley, Spring Hill and Woodend winding up over the years.

‘‘We have this incredible lineage of service and commitment, with members invited into the auxiliary by their neighbours,’’ Mr Matthews said. ‘‘But life doesn’t function that way anymore.’’

Auxiliary member Hazel Gilbert, 92, is among those whose countless e�orts have raised money for equipment, and she has knitted dozens upon dozens of woollen animals for the auxiliary to sell.

KDH chief executive Maree Cuddihy said the opening of the new ambulatory care centre, expected mid-year, would be a chance to say thanks.

‘‘We’re looking at a �tting way to mark the transition with one last auxiliary event,’’ Ms Cuddihy said.

Auxiliary leaves lasting legacy

A Sunbury veterinarian is encouraging dog owners to �lm their pooches when they are le� home alone.

�e research could form part of Diane van Rooy’s PhD study into separation anxiety in man’s best friend.

Dr van Rooy said this was a common behavioural disorder in pets that could have a serious a�ect on both the welfare of the dog and the bond between owner and animal.

‘‘We can guess at what they do while owners are away but video is a great way to show just what some dogs are going through,’’ she said.

Looking for genes involved in the disorder, Dr van Rooy wants to hear from owners willing to �ll out a 101-question survey and provide a saliva sample from their dog.

�e general questionnaire asks owners to rate the frequency of certain behaviours.

Dr van Rooy was inspired to do her research a�er noticing separation problems while in general practice. She said many dogs of di�erent breeds and ages showed signs of distress when le� alone.

A�er setting up a camera at her home, Dr van Rooy discovered her own dog, Toby, displayed symptoms while she was away.

‘‘I was horri�ed,’’ she said. �e footage showed her dog remaining completely still and not blinking while looking up at a door for long periods. Other symptoms of separation anxiety can include barking, howling and whining, incontinence and escape attempts.

Dr van Rooy, who has lived in Sunbury for more than 20 years, is halfway through her candidacy at Sydney University.

A blue light will shine on Woodend’s clock tower as part of a worldwide initiative to increase autism awareness.

Shops and public spaces in Gisborne and Romsey will also ‘‘light it up blue’’ as part of April’s Autism Awareness Month.

Autism is a developmental condition that leads to impaired communication and social interactions and restricted behaviour or interest patterns. Blue is the colour associated with autism awareness globally.

Macedon Ranges Autism Network (MRAN) president Fiona Le Nepveu says other Macedon Ranges events will include an expo at the Woodend Community Centre from 3.30-6pm this �ursday and a family day and picnic in Lance�eld’s Main Street from noon on April 18.

Seminars featuring expert speakers will be held in Woodend on April 15 and 22.

While autism leads to challenges such as sensory overloads and meltdowns, Ms Price says it has taught her to approach life di�erently.

‘‘When you �nd a way to teach them something new or get them to do things like get dressed, you do get a good feeling.’’

A committee that sold thousands of sausages for more than a decade to raise funds for a community-owned stadium has dispersed the money to Sunbury sports organisations.

Sunbury Sports Stadium Group spokesman Graham Innes said the volunteer committee, created in 2001 with the aim of building a stadium for ‘‘fringe’’ sports, was being wound up following the deaths of key members Bill and Evelyn Saul last year.

Mr Innes said that with three of the remaining committee members aged in their 70s, it was time to move on.

‘‘We’ve been having a hard time trying to get volunteers to man the barracks,’’ Mr Innes said.

‘‘We did a great job raising all that money. But the rest of us on the committee decided

sponsoring a series of $1000 scholarships to encourage volunteerism in the mid-2000s.

Mr Innes said the group’s remaining members were proud of their e�orts but realised building a stadium required ‘‘big money’’.

‘‘You need to raise an awful lot just to design and build a stadium that will then be able to fund its own operation,’’ he said.

Mr Innes said that while the group’s closure wasn’t the perfect ending, its members were pleased that a large number of organisations would bene�t.

Hanging for Rock datesThe company behind Hanging Rock concerts says it’s too early to say who will perform at the venue next summer. Following the success of last month’s Rod Stewart concert, a Frontier Touring spokesman said new dates would be announced later this year. Frontier is two years into a �ve-year deal to hold up to four concerts a year at Hanging Rock. A total of 64 per cent of the 10,000-plus people at the March28 Rod Steward concert came from Melbourne, with eight per cent coming from interstate or overseas.

Crash motorcyclist to be chargedA motorcyclist will be charged on summons after allegedly leading police on a high-speed pursuit in Kyneton. The Mans�eld man, 21, was taken to a Melbourne hospital with non-life threatening injuries after crashing at the intersection of Edgecombe and Beauchamp streets about 8.30am last Tuesday. The man was detected travelling at more than 160km/h north of Kyneton on the Heathcote-Kyneton Road. A police pursuit was abandoned because of high speed. Another police of�cer spotted the speeding motorcycle closer to Kyneton. Police said the motorcycle collided with a traf�c island and the rider ran from the scene. He was arrested a short time later.

Dee was just sitting there,’’ Ms Cornish says. ‘‘It was time to give her another home.

‘‘I thought of my children and how lucky they are. It’s time to do something good.’’

Kids Under Cover runs Donate Your Car, a free alternative to selling or trading in an unwanted vehicle. Money raised helps build relocatable studios for young people to live in while they are in a carer’s home.

Chief executive Jo Swi� says for every dollar invested in the work of Kids Under Cover, $3.30 on average is saved in health and justice costs.

Music is known to lift people’s spirits and is often what brings a party to life. It also improves health and well-being, Melbourne music therapist Felicia Bartlett believes.

A music therapist for seven years, Ms Bartlett works with Able Australia (formerly the Deaf Blind Association) and private clients to help them process emotion and traumatic events, help lower anxiety and depression and with building communication and physical skills.

“Singing helps with vocalisation, which is bene�cial for people who have trouble with speech and language, such as those with brain damage. I often allow clients to choose the music they would like to hear, which helps them express themselves, or to write a song.”

Ms Bartlett encourages her clients to play instruments that she can play with them, such as guitar or piano. She says this helps them with social skills, such as learning to take turns.

She specialises in music therapy for children and adults with disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, Rett syndrome, Angelman syndrome or those who are deaf or blind.

“One of my clients, I have been working with since she was about 14 or 15, she’s now 21. She has physical disabilities and, when I �rst started working with her, she needed her support worker’s assistance to play instruments. About a year or two ago, I noticed she was playing by herself … She now enjoys playing the drum and iPad on her own during sessions.”

Miss Bartlett’s dreams of becoming a music therapist were, in part, inspired by her family.

“My father is a musician and my mother a psychologist. I saw an article in the paper about music therapy and decided that’s what I wanted to do,” she said.

“Music has always meant a lot to me, so it’s great I can use it to help others, especially people with a disability. Seeing small changes in someone is so rewarding.”

What is Pain?

Pain is by far the most common reason for people to visit a physiotherapist. But what is pain, really? Thanks to new technology, there has been a massive growth in the understanding of pain in the past 20 years. Many of us learned in school that pain is caused by injury, inflammation, or disease, and that nerves send this information to the brain for us to feel. Unfortunately, we now know that’s not quite accurate, and the medical and scientific communities are shifting away from this definition of pain.

We now know that there are no nerves that carry “pain” signals from the body to the brain. The only messages that nerves in the body are capable of sending to the brain are data on temperature, pressure, and chemicals in the body area they monitor. An injury does cause changes in the body, which are picked up by the nerves, but this does not automatically create “pain.”

Signals from the body reach the brain, and the brain processes this information along with everything else going on such as past experience, thoughts, feelings etc. We now know that we will only experience “pain” if the subconscious brain believes the body is under threat. If a person is distracted or believes an injury is minor, they will generally feel less pain. It is also possible for minor injuries to feel disproportionately painful, or for pain to last well beyond the healing of an injury if, for example, negative thoughts or experiences are associated with the pain.

While this all sounds confusing, there is a bright side to this information: it allows physiotherapists and other health professionals to treat not only the injury, but also to apply and teach methods to “turn down the volume” on pain experiences. These interventions have been shown to be particularly effective in persistent pain as well as conditions such as chronic back and neck pain, whiplash, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Lance�eld-Romsey’s Nysa Miles and Sunbury Little Athletics’ Melvin Monleh were among the standout performers at the Victorian Little Athletics state track and �eld championships last month.

Monleh will head to Perth as part of the Victorian under-13 squad for the Australian Little Athletics championships later this month a�er winning four gold medals at the state championships over the last weekend of March.

He won the under-13 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres and long jump.

In each event he broke the Little Athletics state record, including the 100 metres standard set by his Sunbury teammate, Junior Mabia, last year. Mabia, fresh from his Australian title in the under-15 100 metres,

Juniors’ records tumble �nished with a gold and silver in the under-14 age group at the state titles. He was beaten in his pet event, the 100 metres, settling for second, while he won the 200 metres.

Cody Rodwell had success in the under-14 �eld events, winning three medals.

He �nished second in the under-14 javelin and third in the long jump and high jump.

Bella Peterson and Chelsea Young both came away with medals as well, Peterson �nishing third in the under-11 100 metres and third in the 70 metres, while Young won bronze in the under-14 high jump.

Sebastien Bell-Bartels, Declan Berne, Byron Lynch, Pucho Paye, Zachary Stevens, Ashlea �ies and Maddison Vowles also represented Sunbury.

Nysa Miles was one of six athletes to represent Lance�eld-Romsey at the state

titles. She picked up a silver and a bronze medal in the under-9 girls age group.

In the 800 metres �nal, Miles topped her personal best by 17 seconds to �nish second. On day two of the championships, she won bronze in the 400 metres.

Joshua Emonson won bronze in the under-13 boys 300 metre hurdles. He also made the �nals of the triple jump and high jump and �nished 13th in the 100 metres.

Lilly Bromley �nished 13th in the under-11 60 metres hurdles a�er �nishing seventh in her heat, while Zach Squire was 14th in the under-14 boys 300 metres hurdles.

Jonah Emonson �nished 12th in the under-11 80 metres hurdles, 11th in the 60 metres hurdles and 10th in the javelin, with Noah Emonson jumping a personal best in the under-11 triple jump.

Sunbury United is hoping to have a full side on the park a�er the Easter break as it looks to open its account in the FFV state league 1 north-west season.

United has started the year with two losses and coach Greg Czapnik says the club has been hurt because several �rst 11 players were out.

“On Saturday, we were missing four of our �rst 11 and we knew we would be up against a physical team,” Czapnik said.

“We were leaner and weaker against a bigger North Sunshine Eagles unit.

“�ey came out to play and were determined to beat us as, when we were promoted last time, it was over them.”

Czapnik said that despite being under- manned, his side was punished for not taking opportunities in both opening games.

“Against Keilor, we dominated. �ey scored one really good goal and the second was a really scrappy one.

“We had six or seven chances and got punished for not taking them.

“Against North Sunshine Eagles, we didn’t turn up in the �rst half. We tried but looked slow and, before we knew it, we were 3-0 down a�er making silly, basic mistakes.

“We had a chat at half-time and changed our structures and then had four really good chances while they didn’t create anything. �ey managed to score a goal virtually the last kick of the game.”

It’s a new-look side for United this season with most of last year’s team no longer there.

“Only four guys are still here, with seven new guys making a brand new team, but we have a little more depth than last year.

“Most of the players who le� have gone to high-level soccer, which is a good thing.”

Czapnik says the aim is to improve on last season when the club was in a �ght against its relegation up until the �nal round.

“Improvement is the main goal and we don’t want to be in the same position as last year in the relegation battle.

“I get measured by results. We’ve had a fantastic pre-season and it’s one of the best we’ve had in the �ve years at the club.”

United will play Altona East Phoenix on Saturday at Paisley Park.

In state league 5 west, Kyneton District will take on Sporting Charlton, while Gisborne plays Melbourne Lions

United regrouping after two defeats

Rupertswood’s junior footballers will soon look like their senior teammates, at least in apparel, with the club’s junior arm getting new uniforms.

�e juniors will receive the new uniforms at a club family fun day on Sunday.

�e new jumpers and colour scheme bring the juniors in line with the senior teams. Twelve junior sides will take to the park for the club this season.

It won’t just be the junior footballers launching their season on Sunday, with the club’s junior netballers starting their season, too.

Alongside the four senior netball sides, �ve junior netball teams take to the court this season with the under-13s and under-15s looking to continue their unbeaten streaks of last year.

�e family fun day will feature intra-club footy practice matches, netball inter-league tryouts and training, a jumping castle, a magician and live music.

Peter Manser’s immediate impact on the Gisborne and District Cricket Association’s McIntyre Cup competition was rewarded when he was named Ken Sullivan medallist as best player in the competition on Wednesday night.

�e Woodend bowler, who crossed from Premier Cricket side Greenvale Kangaroos for the season, won the medal with 18 votes, one vote ahead of Romsey allrounder Chris Burkett.

Manser took 47 wickets for the season and averaged 33 with the bat. He and Burkett, who took out the bowling and batting awards respectively, were front runners for the medal most of the night.

A�er six rounds, Burkett led with 12 votes, Manser second on 10. Manser hit the lead in round eight and was joined by Gisborne’s Jarryd Vernon on 15 votes in round 12. Burkett was a vote further back.

One vote to Vernon in round 13 saw him take the outright lead with a round to go. Manser and Burkett were awarded three votes each in the last match of the season to overtake Vernon, who didn’t poll.

Vernon, Manser and Burkett were all named in the team of the year. All eight clubs were represented in the team, with Sunbury United premiership captain James Hughes named captain. �e others were Gisborne’s Simon Harman, Bacchus Marsh’s Peter Lalor, Sunbury’s Jacob Brewer and Jason McGann, Sunbury United’s Ryan Billinghurst and Lance Watts, Wallan’s Todd Keenan and Riddell’s Matthew Livingstone.

Kyneton looks to new blood to ful�l BFL ambitionsA more settled pre-season and some new recruits are set to push Kyneton up the ladder in the Bendigo Football League.

�e Tigers �nished seventh with six wins in their �rst year back in the competition last year a�er a season o� due to lack of players.

Club president Rob Waters said it had been a lot easier this pre-season.

“It feels more settled as we were rushing around last season,” Waters said. “Now that we are a year back into it, we’re starting to feel like a normal club again.”

While not a big player in o�-season recruiting, Kyneton has snared enough big

names to have everyone talking. Former AFL rookie-listed brothers Rhys and Alik Magin will boost the Tigers’ mid�eld strength.

Alik played eight games for Gold Coast, while Rhys was on Essendon’s list in 2008-09.

Alik won Bendigo Gold’s best and fairest award in the VFL last year, while Rhys makes the move across from Essendon District Football League club Avondale Heights.

Both played with gun mid�elder/forward Ben Weightman in Queensland as juniors.

“It’s great to have them on board and they are good young boys,” Waters said.

Mitchell Scholard, from Whittlesea, also played junior football with the Magins and Weightman in Queensland. He’s a centre half forward who will present a target.

“Joel Morrison from the RDFL [Riddell District Football League] is another key- position player,” Waters said.

�e president hopes Scholard and Morrison will take some pressure o� Weightman, who kicked 64 goals last season.

Another boost to the Tigers is the return to �tness of captain Michael Rainey.

“He played only a couple of games last year; he’s like a new recruit,” Waters said.

Luke Edmondson, Dale Ciunik, Mick Clancy and Kane Ranstead are among those who have le� the club in the o�-season.

Waters said he wasn’t big on pre-season predictions.

“I think we will be a bit better this season than last year. We want to improve on what we did then.”

�e Tigers kicked o� the season on Good Friday against arch-rival Gisborne.

Results weren’t available at the time of going to print.

Karlie Plowman has had just two weeks to settle into her role as coach of the Kyneton A-grade netball team.

Last year’s coach, Dean Erdman, was set to take on the role again for the Bendigo Netball League club before other commitments forced him to take a break.

Winning B-grade coach Jolanta Bennie was then going to step into the role before deciding she had to focus on her family.

�at’s when Plowman, a long-time Tigers player, put her hat in the ring.

“I got the itch to come back,” she said. “It’s been pretty good so far. I’ve been at the club a long time and I know the girls really well.”

Plowman played all her junior netball at Kyneton before playing and coaching with a number of di�erent teams before her return. But she’s unlikely to take to the court much a�er hurting her back in the pre-season.

Most of last season’s players, who made

the �nals, are coming back. “Jess [Seddon] has decided to take a year o� and will be my assistant coach, while Nikita Block won’t be back either,” Plowman said.

“We’ve managed to get a player back from overseas, who will step into the side, while a couple of players will step up.”

Emma Webb, joint winner of the league’s best and fairest award, will again be prominent.

Plowman says the side is in much better shape than at the end of last season.

�e Tigers �nished third before losing both �nals games. “De�nitely towards the end of the year there was a lot of burnout … it was a bit of a mess and the A-reserve girls had to �ll in,” Plowman recalls. “We’re looking much better injury-wise.”

�e Tigers’ �rst game was on Good Friday against Gisborne.

Tigers’ coach a familiar face

Sunbury Jets’ Kelsey Sigl has found the transition to playing basketball in Australia an easy one.

�e American, who has played in France and Chile, joined the Jets weeks before the season started as the club’s �rst female import.

“It’s been an easy transition and everyone has been very accommodating to me,” Sigl said. “�is club is close-knit and it reminds me of home. I’m from the north-west, which is very family-oriented.

“For the most part, it’s been a smooth transition.”

Like many Americans, Sigl had always wanted to come to Australia.

“Initially, out of college I wanted to come to Australia, but I found a club in France and I then transitioned over to Chile. My agent last fall came up with an o�er of a job out here and I said I’d always wanted to come and had dreamt of coming to Australia.

“I thought it would be a better way to do it, to play the sport I love.

“For me it’s about the experience and learning [about] new cultures and being able to travel the world and play basketball at the same time. “

Sigl said the Jets were learning to gel together as a team. Her own contribution has been to average 20 points and nine rebounds in her �rst three games.

“It’s about the experience and trying to help Sunbury get back up the ladder.

“I know they were on the bottom last year and it’s kind of a rebuilding experience for us and I’m here to help in every way possible.

“So far, it’s been really good. When we played against Keilor, it was really positive and everyone played well

adjustments. �ere’s more [team] structures here compared to France and Chile. “We maybe only had three, total, in each place. In college, we were running anywhere from 70 plays and 10-out-of-bounds plays.”

Sigl will look to pass her experience on to

younger players at the club through clinics.“In college, we did it [clinics] all summer

long. In France, we went to clinics, but it was a lot di�erent as I couldn’t interact with the kids the way I can here because of the language barrier,” she said.

“Any way I can give back to the community, I will take that opportunity.

“I’ve only done one clinic so far and they have been receptive,” Sigl said.

�e Jets have one win from three games leading into the Easter break.
