APPENDIX A

Guidelines for the shapes of terrain pieces

The rulebook gives rules for shapes of terrain pieces, but it is notdifficult to make terrain pieces against guidelines of fairplay. This

appendix gives more detailed examples of shapes which should not beused.

Legal shapes for basic terrain pieces

A basic terrain piece must fit following rules:

• It must fit inside one of the rectangles given in the rules.Below is given the three possible options.

• Two baggage unit must fit inside the terrain withoutoverlaping each others.

• The terrain centre point cannot be further from the any point

of edge than three times the distance to the closest edge.

Illegal shapes for basic terrain pieces

inimum si!e

The terrain piece below is too small, because two baggage units do nofit totally inside the terrain.

"orners

The terrain piece below has some unrealistic corners which are againstfair play. This kind of terrain piece are not according the rules of

fairplay.

#nrealistic edges

The terrain piece below has a sawteeht edge. This kind of terrain piece

are not according the guidelines of fairplay.

"entre point too close to an edge

"Each terrain piece must have a centre point. The centre point must beno further from any point of the edge than three times the shortest

distance to the edge, except a corner terrain piece."

The terrain piece below has the centre point too close to an edge and

thus it is illegal according the rules.

Bays

There are not exact rules for the bays in the edge of terrain pieces. Toadmit the rules of fairplay a straight line from the centre point should

be able to drawn any point of the edge without going out from theterrain piece between that point and the centre point.

Legal shapes for corner terrain pieces

A corner terrain piece must fit following rules:

• It must fit inside one of the rectangles given in the rules.

Below is given the three possible options.

• The terrain piece must cover at least a triangle which side

edges are one B$ shorter than the rectangle. The trianglesare marke below with the blue dash lines.

Illegal shapes for corner terrain pieces

inimum si!e

The terrain piece below is too small, because it does not cover fully there%uired triangle &the edge of terrain crosses the blue dash line'.

Bays

There are not exact rules for the bays in the edge of terrain pieces. Toadmit the rules of fairplay a straight line from the centre point should

be able to drawn any point of the edge without going out from theterrain piece between that point and the centre point.

#nrealistic edges

The terrain piece below has a sawteeht edge. This kind of terrain pieceare not according the guidelines of fairplay.
