ERTMS Objectives / current results Interoperability

• Operational differences• Start of Mission (SR) - TAF - FS / (SR) - OS- FS• Cabsignalling vs outside signals (overlay principles)• Transitions ATB → L2, ATB → L1 → L2 , ATB→L2/ATB• Shunting, maintenance trains (Level0, SH, UN, STM)• Shunting, maintenance trains (Level0, SH, UN, STM)• Performance (blocks length, use service brake, NV, ..)

• Train – track / testing• Train – track specific testing• Different versions

Efficiency• Maintenance concepts differ• Supplier dependent solutions

Lessons Learned

System options/differences• Establish a system specification• Integrated interlocking and RBC requirements• Define engineering rules• Define engineering rules

Operational differences• Identify overall processes & stakeholders• Describe overall user processes

Efficiency• Start specification within project• Tender with cost models, SFA, ..

Specification S ignaling (SPES)

Harmonized specification• Best Practices former projects• To be used in new signaling projects

Specification Signaling

 Life cycle approach• Tendering• Design• Build• Test• Maintain

SPES specification requirements

 Requirements: unique/traceable/testable

 Requirements database….

Example:Req. Id. Requirement Source Original Id.

MA at Start of Route

245 When the train is in mode SR OR the train is in mode SB or PT AND “’start” is

selected, the RBC shall give an MA to a train with OS authorization until the next

signal if: • The next signal is cleared

AND • The train has a valid position

[Uitg L2] 5.021

246 When the train is in mode SB or PT AND “’start” is selected,

the RBC shall give SR authorization to a train if no MA can be issued.

Engineering ERTMS

Unified engineering rules• Supplier independent• Support design process• Balance safety and performance• Maintenance aspects• Maintenance aspects

 Examples:• Start of Mission• Balise position rules• Gradient segment optimization • Transitions STM ATB -> Level2 vs• Integrated track design database• …

Status

(Inter)Operability• Unified Overlay principles• Agreed functional system behavior

Train – track / testing• ERTMS functions/options limited (less testing)• ERTMS functions/options limited (less testing)• BTI effort coordinated by Inframanager

Efficiency• Unified ERTMS engineering rules• RAMS,V&V en SFA in contract

 Supplier/project independent

SPES relations

INESS• Interlocking requirements where used for SPES• Participation in several INESS workgroups

Operational Harmonization• User process description used in Corridor workgroups• User process description used in Corridor workgroups• Harmonization issue’s for TSI OPE

Workgroups engineering rules• EIGG WG• ERA engineering workgroup

 TSI CCS (ERTMS Specification)• CR’s (transition, gradients, OS/SR, ..)• Subset-76 (test scenario’s)
