1949 gründete der Erfinder Wilhelm Hergenröther eine Firma, um seine angemeldeten Patente umzusetzen. Eine bedeutende Produktlinie wurde sein Modelleisenbahn-Zubehör, die er unter der Marke Herpa (Hergenröther Patente) sehr erfolgreich anbot. Um das Jubiläum zu würdigen, bietet Herpa ein Modell einer Boeing 377 Stratocruiser in limitierter Auflage an. Ebenfalls im Jahr 1949 wurde der luxuriöse Langstrecken-Flieger vom Erstkunden Pan American in Dienst genommen.

Inventor Wilhelm Hergenröther created a company back in 1949 to utilize and produce the many ideas he had patented. One of the most successful product lines turned out to be model railway accessories that he offered under the brand name Herpa (Hergenröther Patents). To commemorate the anniversary, Herpa is releasing a limited edition of a Boeing 377 Stratocruiser model. The luxurious long-range airliner was introduced into service by launch customer Pan American the same year.

Zwei ganz besondere Jubiläen

Der 6. Juni 1944: Mit Beginn der „Operation Neptune“ starten über 150.000 alliierte Truppen zu Wasser und aus der Luft die Befreiung Europas. Die Operation ging als „D-Day“ in die Geschichte ein und war die bislang größte Landeoperation in der Geschichte.Fünf Jahre später, am 12. Mai 1949, hoben die Sowjets die einjährige Blockade der Westzonen Berlins auf. Der massive humanitäre Einsatz der westlichen Alliierten mit mehr als 277.000 Flügen versorgte die eingeschlossene Stadt und ihre 2,5 Millionen Einwohner mit mehr als zwei Millionen Tonnen an Lebensmittel, Kohle und Treibstoff.Aus Anlass der 75. bzw. 70. Jubiläums dieser historischen Ereignisse erscheinen bei Herpa im Maßstab 1:200 und als Snap-Fit-Modelle Nachbildungen der Douglas C-47 und als Formneuheit in 1:200 der C-54 (DC-4), die bei diesen Operationen eingesetzt waren.

Two very special anniversaries

June 6, 1944: The commencing of Operation Neptune by sea and air with its 150,000 Allied troops was the starting point for the liberation of Europe. Popularly known as “D-Day”, it is the to-date largest landing operation in history.Five years later, on May 12, 1949, the Soviets lifted the one-year-long blockade of the Western occupied zones of Berlin. The massive humanitarian effort of more than 277,000 flights by the Western allies supplied over two million tons of food, coal and fuel to the 2.5 million in the cut-off city.To commemorate the 75th and 70th anniversaries of these historic feats, Herpa is releasing models of Douglas C-47s in 1/200 and as snap-fits, as well as of a C-54 (DC-4) from new tooling in 1/200 that took part in these operations.
