• born in Salemertal in southern Germany in 1941.

History• Known as “enfant terrible” of modern Swiss typography.

• studied at the Merz Academy in Stuttgart on April in 1958.

• When he become 17 he set metal type for the first time.

• Karl-August Hanke, who was former student at basel school, and becomes his mentor.

Typography• Began a typesetting apprenticeship from 1960 to 1963.• he started to break the rules and unconventional

letters from the corset of right spaced, underlined, angle, reshaped them and reorganised.

• 1963 he was encouraged to study in Switzerland with his mentor.

• In 1968 Ruder and Hofmann recognized their extreme goal of creating an progressive graphic design program for postgraduate professionals, so Hofmann invited Wolfgang, but he offered to teach typography class.

• He has taught and lectured extensively in Europe and America, Australia, New Zealand and Asia .

• from 1970 to 1988 he was editorial of Typographical.

• May 2005, he received an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts.

• In 2013 he earned AIGA medal.• . In 2000 his great notably book entitled My Way

Of Typography was published.
