„Yollarda - European Literature Goes toTurkey/ Turkish Literature Goes to Europe“

Das Goethe-Institut Istanbul organisiert von Mai 2009bis Juni 2010 in 24 türkischen Städten und acht StädtenEuropas eines der weltweit größten Literaturprojektedes Goethe-Instituts der letzten Jahre.

„Yollarda - European Literature Goes to Turkey/ TurkishLiterature Goes to Europe“ wird im Rahmen des „CulturalBridges”-Programms der EU gefördert und führte bislang48 namhafte Schriftsteller sowie zahlreiche Musiker,Fotografen, Filmemacher und Künstler aus acht LändernEuropas (Belgien, Deutschland, Schweiz, Italien,Österreich, Ungarn, Rumänien und Bulgarien) in dieTürkei. In jeder türkischen Stadt fanden eine Wochelang Lesungen, Diskussionen, Konzerte undAusstellungen statt, die dem Publikum Einblicke in diezeitgenössische europäische Kultur vermittelt haben.Die Türkei-Tournee endete im April 2010 mit einer Galain Istanbul im Rahmen der Feierlichkeiten zurKulturhauptstadt Europas 2010.

Der zweite Teil der Reise führt nun 16 Autoren undverschiedene Musiker aus der Türkei nach Sofia,Bukarest, Wien, Venedig, Zürich und in die beidenanderen europäischen Kulturhauptstädte 2010, Pécsund Essen. Den abschließenden Höhepunkt von„Yollarda” bildet eine Galaveranstaltung mit allenteilnehmenden Autoren in Brüssel.

Begleitet wird die Tournee von einem Bücherbus, derneben den Werken der Autoren auch Internetstationenund Informationen über die teilnehmenden Länderbereitstellt. Videocamps, Universitäts- undSchullesungen und ein interaktiver Web-Blog richtensich insbesondere an Jugendliche.

Partner des Projektes sind die Auslandsvertretungenund Kulturinstitute Belgiens, Deutschlands, der Schweiz,Italiens, Österreichs, Ungarns, Rumäniens und Bulgariensin der Türkei. Die türkischen Partner sind Anadolu Kültür,Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), Istanbul2010 - European Capital of Culture Agency, die BilgiUniversität Istanbul und die Absolventenstiftung desÖsterreichischen St. Georgs-Kollegs (ALV).

Das Projekt wird darüber hinaus von der S. FischerStiftung, der Kulturstiftung der deutsch-türkischenWirtschaft sowie von Contretype - Zentrum fürZeitgenössische Fotografie Brüssel und dem UngarischenHaus der Fotografie Budapest unterstützt. Ermöglichtwurde das Projekt außerdem durch die großzügigeUnterstützung von Mercedes-Benz Türk A.Ş.

İstanbul Goethe Enstitüsü Avrupa Birliği “Cultural Bridges”programının finansal desteği ile, Mayıs 2009 -Haziran2010 tarihleri arasında, geniş kapsamlı bir kültür projesigerçekleştiriyor. Goethe Enstitüsü'nün son yıllarda organizeettiği en büyük uluslararası edebiyat projelerinden biriolan “Yollarda”, Türkiye'den başlayarak Brüksel'de sonbulacak.

Projenin Türkiye bölümünde, 8 Avrupa ülkesinden (Belçika,Almanya, İsviçre, İtalya, Avusturya, Macaristan, Romanyave Bulgaristan) 48 tanınmış yazarı ve birçok müzik,fotoğraf ve film sanatçısını 24 kente taşıyan bir turne yeraldı. Proje kapsamında yer alan kentlerde, okuma vesöyleşilerin, konserlerin ve sergilerin yer aldığı Avrupa'dagüncel sanat alanındaki gelişmeler ile doğrudan tanışmaolanağı sunan “Avrupa Kültür Haftaları” düzenlendi.Türkiye turu, İstanbul'da 2010 Avrupa Kültür Başkentietkinlikleri kapsamında Nisan 2010'da düzenlenen özelbir gala ile son buldu.

Projenin ikinci bölümü 8 Avrupa ülkesinde devam ediyor.Bu kez Türkiye'den 16 yazar ve birçok müzisyen Sofya,Bükreş, Viyana, Venedik, Zürih ve diğer iki 2010 AvrupaKültür Başkenti olan Pécs ve Essen'e gidiyor. Brüksel'degerçekleştirilecek ve projede yer alan tüm yazarlarınkatılacağı gala ise, etkinliklerin doruk noktasınıoluşturacak.

Sanatçılara, projeye katılan yazarların kitaplarının incelenipokunabileceği, internet bağlantılı bilgisayarlar ve katılanülkeler hakkında bilgilerle donatılmış bir 'gezici kütüphane'eşlik ediyor. Üniversite ve liselerde gerçekleştirilen okumatoplantıları, video atölyeleri ve internet blogları ile projeöncelikle gençlere ulaşmayı hedefliyor.

Proje ortakları arasında Belçika, Almanya, İsviçre, İtalya,Avusturya, Macaristan, Romanya ve Bulgaristan'nınTürkiye'deki dış temsilciliklerinin ve kültür merkezlerininyanı sıra, Anadolu Kültür, İstanbul Kültür ve Sanat Vakfı(İKSV), İstanbul 2010 Avrupa Kültür Başkenti Ajansı, BilgiÜniversitesi ve Avusturya Liseliler Vakfı (ALV) yer alıyor.

Projeye katkıda bulunan diğer ortak kuruluşlar ise S.Fischer Vakfı, Türk-Alman İşadamları Kültür Vakfı, BrükselContretype Çağdaş Fotoğraf Merkezi ve Budapeşte'dekiMacaristan Fotoğrafevi. Bu proje ayrıca Mercedes TürkA.Ş.'nin önemli katkılarıyla hayata geçirilmektedir.

In one of the largest literature projects ever developedby the German cultural institute, the Goethe-InstitutIstanbul is very proud to be organizing a high-profile artstour throughout Turkey and Europe from May 2009through June 2010.

Funded by the European Union's “Cultural Bridges”program, the tour has so far brought 48 noted authorsand countless musicians, photographers, filmmakers andartists from eight European countries (Belgium, Germany,Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria)to 24 cities throughout Turkey. Each Turkish city hosteda week-long “EU Festival”, with numerous readings,discussions, concerts and exhibitions giving local audiencesthe chance to engage first-hand with contemporaryEuropean art forms and ideas. The Turkish leg of the tourculminated in a special gala in Istanbul in April 2010, tomark the city's celebrations as European Capital of Culture2010.

Continuing in the EU, the tour will now showcase readingsby 16 Turkish authors and concerts by various Turkishmusicians in Sofia, Bucharest, Vienna, Venice, Zurich, andthe two other Capitals of Culture 2010, Pécs and Essen.The crowning event will unite all participating Europeanand Turkish authors at a festive gala in Brussels.

The project aims to appeal especially to young people bysetting the readings at universities and schools, organizingvideo workshops and offering an interactive blog.Accompanying the tour is a bookmobile containing theshowcased literature, internet terminals and informationabout the participating countries.

Activity partners include the consulates, embassies andcultural institutes of Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy,Austria, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria in Turkey, as wellas the Anadolu Kültür Foundation, Istanbul Foundationfor Culture and Arts (IKSV), Istanbul 2010 - EuropeanCapital of Culture Agency, Istanbul Bilgi University, andthe Austrian High School Alumni Foundation (ALV).

Additional partners include the S. Fischer Foundation,the Cultural Foundation of German and TurkishBusinesspeople, Contretype - Contemporary PhotographicArt Center in Brussels, and the Hungarian House ofPhotography in Budapest. Biography

The writer Ayfer Tunc was born in the city ofAdapazari in northwest Turkey in 1964. While stilla student of political science at Istanbul University,she wrote articles for various literary and culturalmagazines. Her first collection of short stories,titled “Sakli”, was published in 1989. It wasfollowed by her debut novel, “Kapak Kizi”, in1992. In addition to novels and short stories, Tunc

also writes reports, radio plays and scripts for TVseries. Her works have been translated into severallanguages and honored with the Yunus Nadi ShortStory Prize (1989) and the Balkanika Award forLiterature (2003). Ayfer Tunc, who participated inthe Turkish-German literary exchange project“Yakin Bakis” in Salzburg in 2008, lives today inIstanbul.

Die Schriftstellerin Ayfer Tunc wurde 1964 in dernordwesttürkischen Stadt Adapazari geboren.Bereits während ihres Studiums derPolitikwissenschaften an der Universität Istanbulverfasste sie Artikel für verschiedene Literatur-und Kulturzeitschriften. Unter dem Titel „Sakli“erschien 1989 ihr erster Sammelband mitKurzgeschichten, gefolgt von ihrem Romandebüt„Kapak Kizi“ im Jahre 1992. Die Autorin schreibt

neben Romanen und Kurzgeschichten auchReportagen, Radiohörspiele und Drehbücher fürFernsehserien. Ihre Werke wurden bereits inmehrere Sprachen übersetzt und mit dem YunusNadi Preis für Kurzgeschichten (1989) sowie demBalkanika Preis für Literatur (2003)ausgezeichnet. Ayfer Tunc, die 2008 am türkisch-deutschen Stadtschreiberprojekt „Yakin Bakis“in Salzburg teilnahm, lebt heute in Istanbul.

Ayfer Tunç 1964 yılında Adapazarı'nda doğdu.İstanbul Üniversitesi'nde Siyasal Bilgiler eğitimi aldı.Üniversite yıllarında çeşitli edebiyat ve kültürdergilerinde yazılar yazmaya başladı. 1989 yılında“Saklı” isimli ilk öykü kitabını yayımladı, bunu 1992yılında ilk romanı “Kapak Kızı” takip etti. Roman veöykü yazarlığının yanı sıra editörlük ve dizi senaristliği

de yapıyor. Bugüne kadar çeşitli dillere çevrileneserleri Yunus Nadi Öykü Ödülü (1989) ve BalkanikaEdebiyat Ödülü'ne (2003) layık görüldü. 2008 yılında“Yakın Bakış” başlıklı Türk-Alman kent yazarlarıprojesine katılarak Salzburg'a giden Ayfer Tunç, halenİstanbul'da yaşıyor.

Biography

The writer, journalist and translator MuratUyurkulak was born in the city of Aydin in westernTurkey in 1972. He initially studied law and thenart history in Izmir, but eventually broke off hisstudies and moved to Istanbul. There he workedas a waiter, translator, and publisher, among otherjobs, and wrote articles for daily newspapers such

as “Bir Gün” and “Radikal”. In 2002 he publishedhis debut novel, “Tol”, which has since then beentranslated into several languages and adapted asa stage play. Four years later he published hissecond novel, “Har”. Today Murat Uyurkulak livesand works in Istanbul.

Yazar, gazeteci ve çevirmen Murat Uyurkulak 1972yılında Aydın'da doğdu. İzmir'de aldığı hukuk vesanat tarihi eğitimini tamamlamadan İstanbul'a göçetti. Garsonluk, çevirmenlik, yayıncılık gibi işlerdeçalışmanın yanı sıra, BirGün ve Radikal gazetelerinde

de editörlük yaptı. 2002'de yayınlanan romanı “Tol”çeşitli dillere çevrildi ve sahneye uyarlandı. Yazarın“Har” isimli ikinci romanı ise 2006 yılında okurlarıylabuluştu. Murat Uyurkulak halen İstanbul'da yaşıyor.

To celebrate two of the European Capitals ofCulture 2010, Essen/Ruhr and Istanbul, theGoethe-Institut is pleased to present a unique galaconcert, performed by the Mercan Dede Ensembleand featuring three very special guests. For“Sounds of Love”, Mercan Dede brings his eclecticensemble together with three artists from the

fields of literature, music and dance, creating ablend of different disciplines, traditions and artisticstyles. The best-selling author Elif Shafak will readexcerpts from her recent novel, “Love”, while theyoung musician Karsu Dönmez and the dancerKadir “Amigo” Memis will add their unique touchesto this magical event.

Biografie

Der in Montreal lebende türkische Musiker,Produzent und DJ Mercan Dede vereint wie keinanderer die spirituelle Tradition der Sufi-Musik mitzeitgenössischem elektronischem Sound.Seine DJ-Karriere begann 1988 in Kanada, wo er1996 sein Debütalbum „Sufi Dreams“veröffentlichte. Mit seinem Ensemble trat erweltweit auf über 200 Festivals, u.a. dem MontrealJazz Festival, dem Montreux Jazz Festival und aufder WOMEX in Deutschland auf. Er arbeitete mit

verschiedenen Musikern wie TransglobalUnderground, Trilok Gurtu, Dhafer Youssef, AzamAli und Coldcut zusammen und komponierte Musikfür Pina Bauschs Stück „Nefes“. Als Anhänger derSufi-Spiritualität veröffentlichte er zum 800.Geburtstag des Mystikers Rumi im Jahr 2007 dasAlbum „800“, welches im darauf folgenden Jahr vonWOMEX zum besten World Music Album gewähltwurde. Mercan Dede ist außerdem als Maler undMultimedia-Künstler tätig.

Mercan Dede is a Turkish-born, Montreal-basedmusician, producer and DJ who fuses the Easternspiritual tradition of Sufi music with contemporaryelectronic sounds. After moving to Canada in 1988, hebegan to work as a DJ and released his debut album“Sufi Dreams” in 1996. Together with his ensemble, hehas performed at over 200 festivals, including theMontreal Jazz Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival,and WOMEX in Germany. He has collaborated with

musicians such as Transglobal Underground, TrilokGurtu, Dhafer Youssef, Azam Ali and Coldcut, andcomposed music for Pina Bausch's piece “Nefes”. Asan adherent of Sufi spirituality, he released the album“800” to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the mysticRumi's birth in 2007. A year later, the album was namedBest World Music Album by WOMEX. Mercan Dedealso works as a painter and multi-media artist.

Montreal'da yaşayan Türk müzisyen, yapımcı ve DJ MercanDede sufi müziğinin tinsel geleneğini çağdaş elektronikmüzikle hiç kimsenin yapamadığı güzellikte birleştiren birsanatçı. Mercan Dede 1988 yılında Kanada'ya yerleşti.Burada DJ kariyeri başladı ve 1996 yılında ilk albümü“Sufi Dreams” çıktı. Grubu ile birlikte tüm dünyada 200'ünüzerinde festivale katıldı. Bunların arasında Montreal CazFestivali, Montreux Caz Festivali ve Almanya'da WOMEX

yer alıyor. Transglobal Underground, Trilok Gurtu, DhaferYoussef, Azam Ali ve Coldcut gibi çeşitli müzisyenlerleberaber çalıştı ve Pina Bausch'un “Nefes” adlı çalışmasıiçin beste yaptı. 2007 yılında Mevlana'nın 800. doğumgünüvesilesiyle “800” adlı albümü çıkardı. Bu albüm bir senesonra WOMEX tarafından en iyi dünya müziği albümüseçildi. Mercan Dede aynı zamanda bir ressam vemultimedya sanatçısı.

Die Schriftstellerin Elif Shafak wurde 1971 inStraßburg geboren und hat in Spanien, Jordanien,Deutschland, der Türkei und den USA gelebt.Nach ihrem Studium der Politikwissenschaftenan der Middle East Technical University in Ankaraunterrichtete sie an verschiedenen türkischenund amerikanischen Hochschulen. Ihr ersterErzählband mit dem Titel „Kem Gözlere Anadolu”erschien 1994; ihr Romandebüt „Pinhan”, für densie den Mevlana Preis erhielt, folgte 1997. Shafak,

die mit „The Saint of Incipient Insanities“ 2004(Deutsch: „Die Heilige des nahenden Irrsinns”,2005) ihren ersten englischsprachigen Romanveröffentlichte, zählt sowohl national als auchinternational zu den erfolgreichsten türkischenAutoren. Die zwischen Istanbul und den USApendelnde Autorin schreibt zurzeit fürunterschiedliche türkische sowie ausländischeZeitungen und Zeitschriften.

Biography

The writer Elif Shafak was born in Strasbourg in1971 and has lived in Spain, Jordan, Germany,Turkey and the USA. After studying political scienceat Middle East Technical University in Ankara, shetaught at a number of universities in Turkey andthe USA. Her first book of short stories, titled “KemGözlere Anadolu”, was published in 1994. Her debutnovel, “Pinhan”, for which she received the Mevlana

Award, followed in 1997. Shafak published her firstnovel in English, “The Saint of Incipient Insanities”,in 2004. She is regarded as one of the mostsuccessful Turkish authors, both in her own countryand at the international level. Elif Shafak livesalternately in Istanbul and the USA, and currentlywrites for diverse Turkish and foreign newspapersand magazines.

Özgeçmiş

1971 yılında Strasbourg'da doğan Elif Şafak, hayatınınçeşitli dönemlerinde İspanya, Ürdün, Almanya, Türkiyeve ABD'de yaşadı. ODTÜ Uluslararası İlişkilerBölümü'nü bitirdikten sonra Amerika ve Türkiye'defarklı üniversitelerde ders verdi. İlk öykü kitabı “KemGözlere Anadolu” 1994 yılında yayımlandı. Bunu1997'de Mevlana Büyük Ödülü'ne (1998) layık görülen

ilk romanı “Pinhan” izledi. İngilizce kaleme aldığı “TheSaint of Incipient Insanities” isimli romanı 2004'te(Türkçe: “Araf”, 2004) yayımlanan yazar, Türkiye'ninyanı sıra yurt dışında da en başarılı Türk edebiyatçılarıarasında yer alıyor. Çeşitli Türk ve yabancı yayınorganları için yazılar yazmaya devam eden Elif Şafak,halen İstanbul ile ABD arasında gidip geliyor.
