SIMPLE PAST OF VERB “TO BE”
In the same way that the verb "to be" is ancillary to structure sentences (am, is,
are) also the last time but this time has used only two: "was" and "were".
This past affirmative sentences the verb "to be" would be structured under the
following grammar:
Was at home last night.
Were at home last nigt.
• I
• He
• She
• It
• We
• You
• They
Note that the auxiliary in past "was" is used only for those singular pronouns, ie
that refer to a single person, however the auxiliary "were" is used with plural
pronouns (You is taken in this way because in addition of "You and You" also
refers to "You").
