Lernziele On completion of this module, the students will obtain an understanding of the Ocean General Circulation Modelling processes
Lehrinhalte The goal is to give some insight into the field of modern ocean modelling, which is useful not only for those who have a genuine interest, but also for those who are oriented towards observations. At some part of the study and career everyone has to deal with output/analyses/publications from numerical models; in those cases it is useful to have some idea what are the ingredients, but also limitations, of ocean models.

Lernziele On completion of this module, the students will obtain an understanding of the processes of the modelled wind-driven and thermohaline circulation
Lehrinhalte The course will give insight into the different aspects of the wind-driven and thermohaline circulation, as it is derived from ocean general circulation models. The main topic is not the formulation of numerical models itself, but rather its application and analysis to understand mechanisms and dynamics.
