    Incisal

    be used to control the brightn ess of

    The C olourful W orld of Labels

    Opale IncisalOpale Incisal provides a n at ural

    opa lescence even w ith multiple fir-ings. Opale Incisal can be mixed w ith

    regular incisal mat erial or used o n its

    ow n. Light dynamics are a standa rd

    asset fo r us.

    Opa le Eff ectIn contrast to t he standa rd opale

    incisals, w hich are colou r-keyed, t he

    Opale Effect ma terials are cha racteri-

    sed by linea rly diminishing tra nslucency

    and opalescence. Moreover, analogous

    to the diminishing tra nslucency, th e

    fluorescence of t hese mat erials show sa linea r increa se. This makes the m

    ideal fo r simulta neou sly enha ncing

    and regulat ing the brightness of t he

    veneer in the incisal a rea.

    Shoulder High /

    CorrectionShoulder High : for a esthetic, meta l-

    free ceramic shoulders. Shoulder

    Correction: fo r low -melting correc-

    tions to the ceramic shoulder, e.g.

    af ter glazing.

    Tra nspa Clea r /

    Tra nspa Neu t ra lTran slucencies w ith a w ide variet y of

    characteristics can b e creat ed using

    Tra nspa Clear /Tra nspa Neutr a l. As

    w ell as ad ding a nuance to incisal

    areas, it can b e used to create

    translucent incisal edges.

    REFLEX StainFinal ad justments, fo r example in the

    cervical or occlusal areas, can be

    carried o ut using Stain.

    CorrectionThis mat erial can b e used t o correct

    veneers w hich ha ve already be en built

    up. The low firing t empera ture of

    700 C prevents an y cha ng e in the

    shape or lustre o f th e veneer.

    GlazeThis ma teria l dete rmines the

    surface finish of the ceramic veneer.

    Glaze is ap plied thinly and evenly.

    When G laze is used, t he firing tem per-ature can b e reduced by a bout 10 C.

    Be ca use REFLEX provides a hom oge-

    neous surface finish, g laze f iring is not

    absolutely necessary.

    X Ca rving

    Liquids (mixing Liquid)

    X Carving Liquids are used for making

    up all -type veneering porcelain

    dentines, modifiers and incisals.

    They gua rant ee opt imum modelling

    characteristics and a w ide processing

    range tog ether w ith excellent f iring

    properties. REFLEX ceram ics should

    only be mixed w ith the recommended

    liquids.

    Slow drying liquid. Also used fo r

    mixing shoulder masses.

    X Ca rving Liquid Speed

    Fast d rying w ith minimum shrinkag e.

    right selections when building u p the

    In order to ensure the best handling,

    firing and bonding properties, only

    1st Opaq ue ba ke

    After the substructure has been suit-

    ab ly prepared, th e f irst layer of

    opaq ue can be a pplied.

    The o pa q ue is supplied a s a pa ste or

    a pow der. To a pply the opa que , use

    the paste b rush provided or a suit-

    ab le pow der opa q ue a pplicat or. The

    shape a nd f lexibil ity o f t he b rush

    a re designed to suit t he viscosity of

    paste opaque.

    Apply a thin layer of opa q ue evenly(semi-coat ing) to th e coping o r

    bridg e fram ew ork. Please ensure

    tha t t his first layer is not to o t hick.

    If the pa ste opaq ue is applied to o

    thickly, uncontrollable amounts of

    l iq uid can evaporat e during pre-

    heat ing a nd cause bubbles to form.

    Then t he first o pa q ue ba ke is car-

    r ied out. For f ir ing tempera tures

    an d t imes plea se refer to the f iring

    prog rammes given a t the end of

    the se instructions.

    2nd Opaq ue bake

    The second step is to a pply opa q ue

    once mo re. Here to o, i t is importa nt

    for the reasons g iven a bove that the

    opa q ue is not applied t oo thickly.

    Even so, the opa q ue must complete-

    ly cover th e substructure so a s to

    ensure t hat the crow n is uniform in

    colour.

    Plea se no teThe o paq ue should be a pplied e ven-

    ly w ith a n a pplicato r or a brush. The

    consistency should be neither too

    th ick nor too th in . A w ash bake is

    not req uired.

    Avoid excessive riffling a nd do not

    al low t hick layers of o paq ue to coa -

    lesce in the occlusal, ap proxima l or

    ma rgina l area s. Thick layers of

    opa q ue can crack during f ir ing.

    Crowns a f t er the 1st op aqu e ba ke :

    The opa que ha s a smooth and shiny appearance.

    Powder Opaq ue

    For ha nd ling rea sons, REFLEX

    pow der opaq ue must not be mixed

    w ith disti lled w at er.

    REFLEX pow der opaq ue l iquid

    place during application.

    Sta ins and glazing

    After the shape has ag ain been

    trimmed and corrected, REFLEX

    stains and /or gla ze can b e used to

    g ive the crow n its individua l chara c-ter.

    Plea se no tePlea se u se o nly REFLEX sta ins and

    glaze . If o ther products are used

    the re is a risk of uncont rolled stress

    in the ceramic causing the restora-

    tion to fa i l throug h tension or pres-

    sure cracks. Please mix stains and

    glaze only wi th the sta in and glaze

    liq uid supplied. Apply w ith a con-

    ventional staining brush.

    When f iring, fol low the recommen-

    da t ions show n in the ta ble .

    2nd Dentine bake

    After the 1st dent ine b ake, correct the

    shape by grinding w ith a medium

    gra in diam ond bur. During this stag e,

    please ensure ade qua te cooling

    (using w a ter dro ps).

    The n fill in a ny missing a rea s in t he

    shape o f the crown by an a dding a

    further layer of dent ine or incisal

    ma terials. Use the same met hod a s

    described for th e 1 st dent ine bake.

    WarningDo not mix REFLEX ceramic materi-

    a ls tog ether w ith a ny o ther types o f

    ceramic material. REFLEX ha s a

    unique na noleuciteTM structure

    and is not compat ible w ith o ther

    ceramics.

    Plea se no teAvoid a pplying to o m uch pressure

    since t his ca n ca use localised o ver-

    hea ting . As w ith a ll ceramics, exces-

    sive grinding causes micro cracks to

    occur in t he cera mic structure a nd

    can result in failure through flaking,

    cracks or fissures.

    Plea se no te g laz eBy modifying the f iring tem perature

    and holding t ime, the deg ree o f

    glaze can be var ied f rom mat t to ahigh shine to suit individua l req uire-

    ments.

    Nature knows no bounds when it comes to

    the interplay of light, form and colour.

    Time and time again, nature surprises us

    with the perfection and harmony of crea-

    tion. We are faced with the difficult task

    of imitating this vibrant world with our

    limited technical means. In order to do

    justice to this task I need materials

    which do not restrict my creativity but

    give me the freedom to imitate nature.

    With conventional materials we were able

    to influence three properties of the

    ceramic layers: chroma, brightness and

    transparency.

    With REFLEX I have a further dimension

    at my fingertips: depth of colour through

    contrast. By using the Chromatix denti-

    ne materials I can control contrasts and

    achieve unique depth of colour which

    enables me to imitate the actual play of

    light found in natural dentition.

    To achieve this goal I build up the restora-

    tion as follows:

    After the opaque bakes I apply

    Chromatix Dentin onto the whole sub-

    structure, keeping the final shape in mind

    and characterising certain areas of the

    dentine core st ill further by using effect

    materials (dentine modifiers and opal

    materials). Then I fire the dentine materi-

    als, which I reduce a lit tle in order to make

    space for the materials that follow.

    Professional build-up

    step by step

    At this stage a variety of different

    dentine modifiers and opal materials

    can be applied in order to obtain the

    desired effects in the mamelon area.

    In the incisal area I use Flu Dentin in the

    areas on which light is to be reflected (on

    the mamelons).

    It is important that the light is absorbed

    between the mamelons as in natural

    teeth. The next step is to define the

    external contour of the tooth with Incisal

    Aquamarin, if required. Then I apply alter-

    nate layers of Incisal and Opale materials

    and build up the final shape with Transpa

    materials. If necessary, the first firing

    can be complemented by a correction

    firing with Transpa materials. REFLEX

    enables me to achieve excellent results in

    my laboratory, even with the most

    demanding of cases.

    Gum ma terials can be used on

    their ow n or mixed with one

    a no th er. This gives rise t o a

    virtually unlimited range of

    possible g ingival colours.

    For information on preparationand f iring please refer to t he

    recommendations for dentines in

    the instructions sta rting on pa ge 16.

    Applications

    With t heir variety of colours (5 dif-

    ferently sha ded pow ders), the

    Gum Dentines may be used to

    accurat ely reproduce th e exact

    colour of th e ging iva.

    Part icularly in th e case of ceramic

    veneers over an implanted super-structure, it is essential t o ensure

    a na to mica lly correct results w hen

    repairing a brad ed sof t t issue surfa -

    ces. But extractions or periodo nta l

    procedures can also lead to sof t

    t issue d efects af t er the hea ling

    process is complete.

    In the interests of b oth ae sthet ics

    and periodo nta l hygiene, these

    defe cts must alwa ys be repaired by

    the dent al technician using suita -

    ble ceramic mat erials.
