Michael Bloss, 25, United Kingdom, London “The fiscal compact is the wrong answer for the crisis of Europe. The crisis evolves out of imbalances within the European Union in their economic structure combined with a neo-‐liberal policy of the retreat of the state and a defeat of democraPc governance over the economic realm. The enhanced austerity measures of the fiscal compact derive from the same school of thought that led to the crisis. We need a Europe that is able to change economic unjust structures. Lets be creaPve and people-‐centred, lets have a European Solidarity amongst people, lets not have a fiscal compact, that withholds us from changing Europe!

Maria PePnaki 32, architect, Athens, Greece “In Greece the shops are closing, the unemployment is growing, the criminality and racism too. We cannot take anymore austerity measures, cuXng back from social benefits and low pensions. Although there should be a minimum tax in order to prevent from tax heaven within Europe, each state should keep the sovereignity over its tax in order to be able to regulate its own economy. Furthermore I wouldn't trust a fiscal union in this european democracy. First changes should be made in the decision making process of Europe and then we can discuss about a fiscal union.”

ChrisPna Ko^ori 30, Work for the greek green party, Athens, Greece “The situaPon in Greece is very criPcal. People are very angry and disappointed by poliPcs indicated by the high rate of abstenPon from the elecPons, 38%! Everyday on the news we read about nazists a^acking, beaPng and stabbing immigrants with the tolerance of the greek police. The crisis is humanisPc more than ever. The fiscal union is in the wrong direcPon. We want a different E.U with more solidarity and poliPcs that will care about humans and not banks. The future in Eurozone doesn’t seem viable. If one collapses it will be a domino…”

Europäische Meinungen zum Fiskalpakt
FYEG: "FYEG (FederaPon of Young European Greens) is opposed to the way that the Euro Crisis is dealt with at the moment. Austerity poliPcs and strict budgetary discipline will not lead Europe out the crisis, but deeper into recession. The Fiscal Compact is one part of these mislead policies. We need to stand together as Europeans in this crisis and show that the European porject in its historic uniqueness will conPnue. We are not giving up on Europe and believe that the German Greens should stand with us in this quesPon!"

Europäische Meinungen zum Fiskalpakt
Jakob Schwarz, 27, Graz: "To make sure spreads are low we need eurobonds and to make sure budgets are balanced we need a common European fiscal policy and addiPonal incomes like a Financial TransacPon Tax, what we don't need is austerity choking off the economy. In three months the effects of the collapsing demand will hit the export oriented countries and Merkel will understand it, but then it's too late."

Chema MarPn, 22, Barcelona, Spain: "Youth unemployement is more than 52% in spain at this moment. Austerity measures taken by the conservaPves, following the postulates of fiscal compact, didn't sPmulate reacPvaPon of employment."

Krassina Demireva, 26, Sofia: "We are fighPng for more democracy in Europe, but at the same Pme keep pushing with the Fiscal Compact the intergovernmental aspect of the European Union policies, where the European Parliament and people cannot have a control over important economic decisions concerning their lives. Europäische Meinungen zum Fiskalpakt
Philippe Schockweiler, 25, Luxemburg: "The fiscal pact represents the European PoliPcs that I despise: A couple of big countries deciding behind closed doors about the fate the European Union without the consulPng of the European Parliament. We need real European solidarity instead of policy of mistrust and mutual prejudices. We need to overcome our fears and start solving our problems together!"
