Building from iStage 2

A project initiated by

Science on Stage Germany

and

SAP

20 Teachers from 14 countries2 years of work - 2012/2014

Officially public the 5th December 2014

iStage 2 : Smartphones

The teachers have created teaching units on how to integrate smartphones in their classes.

The aspect of project work and international collaboration is included.

The concrete practical teaching units include list for apps, hints how to use apps and a how the project work can be successfully integrated in schools using different forms of communication.

Smart AccelerometerA teaching unit by

Lorenza Resta (ita)

Zbigniew Trzmiel (pol)

Giovanni Pezzi (ita)

Gave the idea of an international competition using eTwinning

Competition Goals

Bring more teachers and students to use smartphones to do outdoor acceleration measures

Incite teachers to use eTwinning to collaborate between schools of the same or different country

Add some fun by turning it to a friendly and collaborative competition

How to participate ?

Teachers create a free account on eTwinning

In their eTwinning Desktop they search for«Jean-Luc Richter» and ask for a contact

Then they send me a message to take part in the competition and I will add them to the project

Why eTwinning ?

It’s a free collaborative internet platform for teachers

It’s supported by the European Union and part of Erasmus + for education

It is secure and students and parents can take part in a project through the «Twinspace» and the «Twinblog»

The CompetitionThe student teams have to go to any fun fair, or any attraction and make measurement on the attraction with the smartphone.

The teacher of the students acts as coordinator of the project work.

After the experiment, the students present a summary of their measurements in one A4 pdf page with one picture where you can see the students doing the experiment with their smartphones.

ANY AMUSEMENT ATTRACTION IS ALLOWED !FROM THE SMALLEST CARROUSEL TO THE BIGGEST ROLLER COASTER

A4 IS NOT ENOUGH ?! BE CREATIVEIT’S JUST THE «RESUME» AND YOU CAN WRITE AND SHOW MORE IN THE TWINSPACE

ONLY TEXT : BORING ADD GRAPHICS & IMAGES

WinnersAll participants win because they took part to the competition and learned by experimenting

To motivate teams, two «official winners» will be announced at the Science on Stage Festival in London, in June 2015 :

Best attraction of Europethe longest and strongest acceleration according to the students’ measurements

Best experiment reportpicture quality, scientific value of the way the experiment was done and presented and originality of the presentation

How to do the measures ?

In the teaching unit from Lorenza Resta, Giovanni Pezzi, Zbigniew Trzmiel. This teaching material will be available in the project Twinspace

Help each others through the Twinspace

Always follow the park security rules and watch for students safety during the experiments

Most important : HAVE FUN !This project can be a great way to make your

students love physics and learn by communicating and international collaboration
