REFUGEE BLUES

Spärliche Hütten säumen die Schnellstraße zum Hafen von Calais.Zwischen ihnen hängen Wäscheleinen, am Boden sammelt sichder Schlamm. Wasser kocht auf der Feuerstelle, ein Einkaufswagenbewahrt letztes Hab und Gut. Die Kamera gleitet sanft durchdiese Schauplätze. Über die Bilder von den Geflüchteten, die hiercampieren, wird REFUGEE BLUES, ein Gedicht von W. H. Auden, vonklarer Stimme vorgetragen. Die Menschen beginnen aufzubegehren.Denn sie wollen weiter.

Spartan huts line the highway to the port of Calais. Between themhang washing lines, down below the ground is muddy. Water boilson an open fire, and a shopping trolley holds all someone’s worldlypossessions. We see images of the refugees who have set up camphere, and the camera glides across the scene to the text of W. H.Auden’s REFUGEE BLUES. People are beginning to rebel, they want tomove on.
