ERINA (From Our Correspondent) The younf men of this locally are still enlisting, real-izing their country’s need, and facing their responsi-bilities. Wamberal, Terrigal, Matcham and Erina have bidden farewell to their stalwart sons, and on Tuesday half a dozen more went to offer themselves on their country’s altar. In every case local resi-dents have wished them God spead, andhave sup-plied them with various useful articles. One of the latest send oofs was to Fred Weiss, son of the local schoolmaster, who at a surprise party was given a sheepskin vest, a filled pocket wallet, and handker-chiefs. The Matcham Red Cross Society also pre-sented him and his brother, Erle Weiss (at present in camp at Holsworthy) with hand knitted woolen mufflers. Speeeches suitable to the occasion were made by Messrs Smalley, Coulson and King, and the recipient suitably responded, thanking the do-nors, and stating that he would endeavor to do his duty, and to keep up the prestige of the British race. A bountiful supply of good things was done full jus-tice, and after a pleasant evening the party dis-persed. Prior to enlisting, Mr F. Weiss was engaged as assistant teacher at West Wyalong Public School.
