Map data are based on the drilling data base of the Geology and Groundwater Management Working Groupof the Senate Department for Urban Development and the Environment, with approx. 4400 boreholes at a depth of 60 m and more, interpretation profiles obtained from geological sections,and groundwater level measurements from May 2009 and the depth to groundwater (potentiometric surface)derived from terrain altitude data.The individual definitions of rock to 10 rock classifications with associated geothermal parameters(thermal conductivity,thermal capacity) was then carried out.A model approach using the Earth Energy Designer (EED, Version 3.16) was used to determine the specificextraction rate of each class of rock. For this purpose, an application-oriented energy load case (a single-family home)was calculated for each class of rock, with identical boundary conditions. Only rock-specific parameters (thermalconductivity, thermal capacity) were adjusted. Appropriate reductionallowances must be made for larger assemblies with more than 2 probes (even those below 30 kW), as the interactionof the probes with one another increases with the number of probes.The extraction performance was calculated for heating and hot water preparation, with 2400 full load hours(annual operating hours) of the heat pump. The mean geothermal extraction rate for the entire bore or a virtual node were calculated by weighted averaging theindividual, section-related extraction potential for the selected depth (60 m). The bore and virtual node related specificextraction rate was subsequently interpolated in order to generate this map.
