New construction in a new age Building construction in Sweden is a slow process and is expensive; a problem that almost certainly exists in the rest of Scandinavia as well as in other parts of Europe. Building costs are in line with inflated house prices and leave a produc-tivity growth rate at a very low level. This primarily affects our young people, senior citizens and single people who are all part of the small household category. With increased competition, more local actors, and most importantly the industrialisation of timber construction we can create a market that provides good homes for small households.

Below, an outline of the preliminary program for the first International Holzbau-Forum Nordic in Växjö 12, Sweden, is presented. Each block is made up of three or four presentations followed by a panel discussion.

The lectures will be held mostly in English.

Wednesday, 29th of August 2012

15.00 Pre-conference activities. We will visit several of Växjö’s timber buildings within central Växjö,

including:

• VälleBroar–TheModernWoodenCity. • Portvakten,8storeytimberconstruction,64apartments, solidwoodbeams. • Limnologen,8storeytimberbuildings,134apartments. • Välludden,4–5storeytimberbuildings,apartments/condominiums. • Södra Climate Arena,15kwh/m2/year,solidwoodbeam construction. •Uppfinnaren,4–5storeyofficebuilding,solidwoodbeams. • HusM,15,000m2facilitiesattheUniversity. • HusN,7,000m2facilitiesattheUniversity. • ÖstraLugnet. • Biskopshagen.

träträ1. International Holzbau-Forum Nordic Växjö 12 (IHN 2012) | Nordic Wood Construction Conference 30–31st of August 2012 | Linnaeus University Växjö

We will visit several of Växjö’s timber buildings within central Växjö,

träträ1. International Holzbau-Forum Nordic Växjö 12 (IHN 2012) | Nordic Wood Construction Conference 30–31st of August 2012 | Linnaeus University Växjö

New construction in a new age Building construction in Sweden is a slow process and is expensive; a problem that almost certainly exists in the rest of Scandinavia as well as in other parts of Europe. Building costs are in line with inflated house prices and leave a produc-tivity growth rate at a very low level. This primarily affects our young people, senior citizens and single people who are all part of the small household category. With increased competition, more local actors, and most importantly the industrialisation of timber construction we can create a market that provides good homes for small households.

Below, an outline of the preliminary program for the first International Holzbau-Forum Nordic in Växjö 12, Sweden, is presented. Each block is made up of three or four presentations followed by a panel discussion.

The lectures will be held mostly in English.

Wednesday, 29th of August 2012

15.00 Pre-conference activities. We will visit several of Växjö’s timber buildings within central Växjö,

including:

• VälleBroar–TheModernWoodenCity. • Portvakten,8storeytimberconstruction,64apartments, solidwoodbeams. • Limnologen,8storeytimberbuildings,134apartments. • Välludden,4–5storeytimberbuildings,apartments/condominiums. • Södra Climate Arena,15kwh/m2/year,solidwoodbeam construction. •Uppfinnaren,4–5storeyofficebuilding,solidwoodbeams. • HusM,15,000m2facilitiesattheUniversity. • HusN,7,000m2facilitiesattheUniversity. • ÖstraLugnet. • Biskopshagen.
