VorwortEs ist kaum bekannt, dass Antonio Vivaldi(1678–1741) Originalkompositionen fürBlockflöte geschrieben hat, ja dass selbstseine bekannten sechs Querflötenkon-zerte op. X ursprünglich Blockflötenkon-zerte waren, die der Meister für das rivali-sierende Schwesterinstrument einrichteteund drucken ließ, als die Querflöte be-gann, sich als Soloinstrument Kammerund Konzertsaal zu erobern. In den Vival-dischen Handschriften sind ähnlich wiebei Bach die beiden Instrumente deutlichdurch die Bezeichnungen „flauto“ und„flauto traverso“ auseinandergehalten.

Eine der schönsten dieser originalenBlockflötenkompositionen ist ein Trio fürkonzertierende Flöte, Oboe und Fagott (=Basso continuo), Pincherle Inventaire thé-matique Nr. 402, im Autograph als „Con-certo del Vivaldi“ für Flauto, Hobois, Fa-gotto bezeichnet. Im Original sind einzel-ne Töne der Oboenstimme ad lib. oktav-versetzt, was mit Sicherheit darauf schlie-ßen lässt, dass das Stück auch mit zweiBlockflöten musiziert wurde. Selbstver-ständlich kann die Blockflöte auch durcheine Querflöte ersetzt werden. Neben derklanglich idealen Besetzung etwa mitBlockflöte, Oboe, Fagott und Cembalosind daher eine Reihe von anderen Be-setzungen möglich, die das Werk als wert-volle Bereicherung der Hausmusiklitera-tur erscheinen lassen.

Die Partitur dieses Werkes befindet sich inder Biblioteca Nazionale in Turin in derSammlung Renzo Giordano, Bd. VIII p.20. Sie enthält keine dynamischen Zeichenund ist sehr sparsam artikuliert. DieZutaten des Herausgebers, durch Klam-mern und gestrichelte Bögen deutlich vomOriginal unterschieden, sind als Anregungzu werten, das Stück so farbig und leben-dig zu musizieren, wie dies zur Vivaldizeitüblich war.

PrefaceIt is a little known fact that Antonio Vivaldi(1678–1741) wrote original compositionsfor the recorder and that his six wellknown flute concertos op. X were in factoriginally recorder concertos, which themaster arranged for the rival sister instru-ment and had published when the trans-verse flute began to conquer the musicroom and the concert hall. As in Bach’sscores, the two instruments are clearlydistinguished in Vivaldi’s manuscripts bythe terms “flauto” and “flauto traverso”.

One of the most beautiful of these originalcompositions for recorder is a trio for soloflute, oboe and bassoon (= basso conti-nuo), No. 402 in Pincherle’s Inventaire thé-matique, which the autograph describes as“Concerto del Vivaldi” for flauto, hoboisand fagotto. In the original some notes inthe oboe part are scored an octave higherad lib., indicating beyond any doubt thatthe work was also played on two recor-ders. Needless to say, the recorder part canalso be played on a flute. In addition to theideal instrumentation consisting of recor-der, oboe, bassoon and harpsichord, anumber of other arrangements are there-fore possible, making the work a valuableaddition to the literature of chambermusic.

The score of this work is in the BibliotecaNazionale in Turin in the Renzo Gior-dano collection vol. VIII, p. 20. It containsno dynamic markings and the phrasing isvery sparing. The editors additions, whichare clearly distinguished from the originalby brackets and little curves, are only tobe regarded as suggestions towards per-forming the work as colourfully andvividly as was the custom in Vivaldi’s day.

X étaient à l’origine des concertospour la flûte à bec. Arrangés pour l’instru-ment rivalisant par le maître même ilsfurent imprimés quand la flûte traversièrecommença par conquérir chambre et sallede concert en instrument de solo.Semblable à la pratique de Bach les deuxinstruments sont clairement distinguésdans les manuscrits vivaldiens par les ter-mes «flauto» et «flauto traverso». Une desplus belles de ces compositions originalespour la flûte à bec est un Trio pour flûteconcertante, hautbois et basson (= bassecontinue), Pincherle Inventaire thémati-que No. 402, avec le titre «Concerto delVivaldi». A l’autographe quelques notesde la partie du hautbois sont transmises àl’octave inférieure (ad lib.) ce qui nouspermet de conclure que cette œuvre futaussi exécutée par deux flutes à bec.Naturellement on peut également substi-tuer la flûte à bec par une flûte traversière.Hors l’exécution idéale c’est-à-dire avecflûte à bec, hautbois, basson et clavecin de nombreux autres arrangements sontpossible ce qui fait cette œuvre trèsrecommendable aux cercles d’amateurs.

La partition de cette œuvre est à laBibliothèque Nationale de Turin dans lerecueil Renzo Giordano, 8iéme volume, p. 20.Il ne se trouvent pas de signes dynamiqueset les courbes y sont très rares. Les signesaccessories de l’éditeur sont distingués del’original par des paranthèses et des liai-sons pointillées. Il vous invite à exécuterce Trio aussi coloré et vif comme on l’in-terprétait au temps de Vivaldi même.
