“Small Unit Commands” Training Manual

Overview: Many criminals today are tactical thinking and have military style training in

their background. Based upon violent trends occurring in Mexico and consistent within this

training manual are criminal groups armed with fully automatic weapons, body armor, radio

communications and synchronized combat training. This is to be utilized as an Officers Guide

to counter the tactics being used by criminal groups.

Small Unit Commands

General objective

To strengthen into an effective interactive unit in an urban environment, in order to obtain organization at the group level and build individual skills, based on intensive and specialized training

This practical shooting exercise aims to teach how to shoot while under stress (pressure)

Standard safety

- All exercises will be done under the supervision of instructors - Weapons should remain disengaged during training - Avoid communication equipment during training. Chargers in their bags. - During training, the ammunition will be handled only by instructors - Wear light equipment - Hearing, optical and physical protection should be used

Universal Rule of the Shooter

Be prepared physically and psychologically to receive the recoil of the shot

Correct position

Position: You should take a comfortable position, facing the object or target.

Weapon: You must have a weapon based on the size of your hand for better gun and hand

coordination, (correct elevation), (dovetails).

View alignment: Do a triangular view test to check your vision to establish eye dominance

(Dominant Eye)

Monitor breathing: Shots should be taken when breathing is more controlled.

Action finger on the trigger: The action of the finger is slow and progressively backward until

the shot is executed.

Fail Safe: Weapon to chest.

Realigning: After taking a shot realign and implement muscle memory.

Positioning the gun

The weak hand must take the gun by the hand guard, weak leg semi-flexed towards the

target; strong leg semi flexed and well planted supporting the full weight to reduce any recoil.

Complementary Exercises

1. A target or object should be placed on the wall while the shooter aligns his body and

aims the weapon and fires a shot, takes his gun to his chest and then repeats the

exercise (perform exercise with an unloaded weapon) with gun and rifle.

2. Insert a cartridge in the chamber avoiding discharge; repeat this exercise several times,

with gun and rifle.

Precision Shooting

This exercise is executed with a shot in each silhouette and is used to measure the degree of

accuracy. In this exercise, 1 gun chamber is supplied with 10 cartridges, and 1 rifle chamber

with 10 cartridges is supplied, for use.

This exercise is performed with 2 shots into the silhouette and serves to correct impact and

positions of the shooter.

3rd Exercise

This exercise is executed by shooting in the order given by the firearm instructor at high,

medium and low level targets.

This exercise is performed with a gun and rifle (interchanging them), using a chamber with 10

cartridges for the gun and a chamber with 10 cartridges for the rifle.

Reaction and Transition Shooting

4th Exercise

This exercise is performed using 3 chambers for a gun and 3 chambers with 10 cartridges for a

rifle, and on orders of the firearm instructor the gun should be fired carrying out the transition

without losing the sequence of shots, on 2 levels, high and low.

Controlled Site Shooting

5th Exercise

This exercise uses 3 chambers for a gun with 12 cartridges each, 2 chambers for practice and

one to assess ability, aiming at the chest of the metal silhouettes.

Note: Firearm instructor will order 2 consecutive shots to the chest and then repeat, the

exercise is repeated until the cartridges are empty, and chamber should only be changed

once.

Controlled Site Shooting

6th Exercise

This exercise uses 2 chambers, 1 stocked with 13 cartridges and the other with 12 cartridges,

on metallic silhouettes, with speed and accuracy, the chamber is changed with a cartridge still

in the chamber.

Controlled Site Shooting on a Track with Advancement,

Transition and Precision

7th Exercise

In this Exercise, you will use 3 chambers for a gun, 1 stocked with 11 cartridges one with 14 cartridges and another with 6 cartridges, 2 chambers for a rifle, 1 stocked with 9 cartridges and the other with 8 cartridges.

Starting at point number "1", 4 shots are made into controlled site silhouette #1, 4 shots into the controlled site silhouette #2, chamber is changed and transitioned, 2 shots are made to the # 4 silhouette and with gun to chest advance to lumber point number “2”, at which 2 shots are made to silhouette #5 and 2 shots to silhouette #6, then advance with gun to chest to point number "3"

At this point take 2 shots to silhouette #7, advance toward point number "4" changing the chamber while moving.

At this point shots are made into silhouette #8, take as many shots as necessary to hit all the targets on silhouette # 8, from this location fire 2 shots to silhouette #9, from this same point change and transition the chamber, and fire 4 shots into controlled site silhouette # 10 and #4, fire into controlled site silhouette # 11, then advance to point number "5"

Make the transition and fire shots at the 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 targets, and here this exercise ends.

Note:

The chambers for the gun use is as follows, first the chamber is stocked with 11 cartridges, then change chambers for one with 14 cartridges, and finally we change for a chamber with 6 cartridges.

For rifles first use 1 chamber with 9 cartridges and then exchange for 1 chamber with 8 cartridges.

This exercise is done with 2 chambers stocked with 15 cartridges each, shots will be fired standing firm using 1 chamber with 15 cartridges and the other will be fired while advancing from back to front.

13th exercise

For this exercise 2 chambers are needed for a rifle, each one stocked with 30 cartridges, and 2 chambers for a gun stocked with 15 cartridges each.

This exercise is done with 2 gun chambers stocked with 15 cartridges; the shooter executes the shots and should change the chamber while advancing from a distance of 30 meters.

The exercise is carried out while standing firmly using 1 chamber for a rifle stocked with 30 cartridges at a distance of 60 meters, the chamber is changed and the shooter executes the shots while advancing.

14th Exercise

For this exercise a gun chamber is stocked with 10 cartridges and a rifle chamber stocked with 10 cartridges, the shooter in the line of fire should be laying down with his chest to the ground, stands, then runs and fires 10 cartridges with the gun, the exercise is then repeated with the rifle.

This exercise is carried out in sets of groups with an unlimited number of cartridges with a pole in the middle of two partitions.
