"Tere is noneed to besoaking wetfrom head totoe to enjoy

sailing" A pleasure to sailin great comfort

    HR 37 from 2004

    Te roots of Hallberg-Rassy date

back to the Hallberg yard in the early1940s. In 1967 we introduced the35 ft cruising yacht Rasmus. Tis

was a completely new concept in the world of yachting: a sailboat with acentre cockpit that was well protectedby a windshield. She had a powerfulengine, big tanks and a high degree ofcomfort all combined with outstan-ding sailing capability for its time and

nice woodwork. Te Rasmus was atrendsetter and is still much sought af-ter today. Te Hallberg-Rassy conceptis a cruising icon many have tried,

    unsuccessfully, to copy. Hallberg-

Rassy has always meant ocean-goingyachts that are a joy to sail in greatcomfort. Tis successful concept hasbeen continuously developed yearby year. oday, HR yachts are easilymanageable under both sail and po-

wer, providing you with condencein every detail.

    Hallberg-Rassy exemplies the

maxim: Tere is no need to besoaking wet from head to toe toenjoy sailing.

    AffordableQuality High quality

with lasting valueTe re-sale value of a Hallberg-Rassy is exceptionally high.Tis is one of the key decisionfactors when buying a yacht, and it is one reason why somany loyal customers buyfrom Hallberg-Rassy again andagain. It is very good to owna ne yacht, but it is equally

reassuring to know that you will also be able to sell her at areasonable price.

Te crew also appreciatescomfort - no one needs to bepersuaded to sail a Hallberg-Rassy. Te well-protectedcockpit reinforces that vitalfeeling of safety and security.Te helmsman quickly gainscondence in the performanceof the yacht. A Hallberg-Rassyyacht has a logical interiorlayout designed for longperiods on board either at seaor in the harbour. All Hallberg-Rassy models have a singlelevel oor throughout the boat, making for easy access to allcabins. Te displacement ofthe yachts is designed not onlyto give the generous stowageneeded for extended voyagesbut also space for moderncomforts. Access for servicingtechnical equipment is alsoeasy, and all units are testedprior to delivery. Te yachtshave the generous tank capacitynecessary for serious cruising.

All this combines to give greatcondence in a Hallberg-Rassyyacht - again conrmed by thehigh re-sale value. 48 yachts under construction at the same time

Te Hallberg-Rassy conceptmeans long production runsand that we can build boats

    with quality that is affordable.

Germn FrersNaval Architect Since 1988, Naval ArchitectGermn Frers from Argentina, one of the most successfulyacht designers of our time, has been the chief designer forall Hallberg-Rassy yachts. Hecreates elegant high-performan-ce cruising yachts based uponhis experience of successes inthe Volvo Ocean Race and inthe Americas Cup, combiningthis expertise with the netraditions that Hallberg-Rassystands for. We at HR are proudof this collaboration and areat the same time aware of theobligation that only world-classyachts may carry Germn Frerssign. The cooperation has beenvery successful, with over 2,500

HR yachts to Frers design soldsince 1989.

    First hand-sketch, thencomputer

In our modern age, whencomputers are so involved indesign and production, it isinteresting to note that eachnew Frers design begins with arough, handmade sketch. Onlyin that way can the beautifullines of these legendary yachtsbe dened. Once the correctline has been established, thenthe detailed design proceedsusing advanced computer aidsto exploit Frers innovativetalent to its full potential.

A good hull is the basisof a solid yacht Hallberg-Rassy has over 43years experience buildingGRP (Glassbre ReinforcedPolyester) hulls. All hullsare hand laid up in GRPunder careful quality controlprocedures by a subsidiarycompany owned by HR.Hallberg-Rassy has full control

over the complete productioncycle. No other hulls thanHallberg-Rassys are built there.

Te outer skin of the hull is

Optimal GRP hullsmade in isophthalic gelcoat.Isophthalic polyester is alsoused. Both are very resistant to

    water penetration.

All Hallberg-Rassy hullshave a sturdy rubbing strake, integrated with the hull, and adeep bilge. Should any waterenter the boat, it will always bechanneled to the deepest point

of the bilge.Te keel area is solid laminateand has a grid system of anadvanced design that reinforces

    Te deep bilge

which will not absorb water. o

further increase stability, wovenroving and multi-directionalbres are used combined withtraditional glassbre mat.

Te grid distributes loadsfrom the bottom out into thehull in case of grounding.Te structural bulkheads arelaminated in position from bothsides. On all models of 34 ftand larger, the hull and deck are

joined by overlapping laminate;there are no bolts or screws. Tisis a method we have been usingfor over 40 years and it is 100per cent waterproof. Te insideof the hull is top-coated twice.

Te bulbed lead keel is boltedon and gives a low centre of

gravity, which in turn providesexcellent stability. Te rudderhas low-friction bearings and theshaft is thick, solid stainless steelcast into the solid rudder blade.

    and so on.

Wooden parts are cut out inComputer Aided Machines toprecision measurements andthese machines are integrated

with the CAD (Computer AidedDesign) system that was used inthe design of the yacht.

Te wooden parts are sanded, sprayed with at least six coatsof varnish and dried, all usingone fully automatic, dust freemachine to obtain the highestpossible standard of nish.

Hoses and electric wiring areprepared in a special workshopin the yard. Cables are installedin conduits in the boat, withthe switchboard easily accessiblefrom the navstation. All fuses areautomatic.

Forward, the chain locker is arranged for self stowing a design arrangement introduced in 1978 while theelectric windlass has its motor mounted below deck toavoid condensation. Only this height difference makesthe chain truly self-stowing. Te opening to the lockeris asymmetric to give good access even if the chain ismoving. On boats of 34 ft and above there is also a shelf(if electric windlass is ordered) for stowing wet itemssuch as fenders.

    Push-buttonsailing Big yachts with mini-

was necessary to have a largecrew to sail a big yacht.Te development in yachtequipment has changed thissituation dramatically.

oday push-button sailing is nolonger a dream but a practical

reality, with genoa winches, furling head and main, reeng, bow thruster, anchor windlass, autopilot, chart plotters and soon.

Sometimes we get asked howmany people are requiredonboard to be able to sail sucha big yacht. Te answer is atleast one no less! Many of theHallberg-Rassy yachts are sailedby couples, and that goes for allsizes from 31 ft to 62 ft.

Discover all the advantages ofreliable push-button handling its the way to avoid a largecrew, and its the way toindependence.

In

    for yachtingCorian

    I

Corian the original solid surfacemade only by DuPont is the ultimate solutionfor tough surfaces that are exposed to wear and tear, whether inthe galley or in the head.

Boat owners know that the solid beauty of Corian will last foryears, and will add value to their boats.

The fact that Corian is solid and non-porous throughout makesit hygienic and resistant to UV, moisture and weather conditions.Mould and mildew, which are a particular problem on boats, have little effect on Corian and the surface can simply be wipedclean to look like new.

Its with good reason that boat owners choose Corian ,a proven solid surface with worldwide aftersale in almost anymajor port.

Corian offers practical design features such as coved edges to avoidmoisture damages and dirt traps.
