1. Das Haschemitische Knigreich Jordanien (arabisch al-Urdunn) ist ein Staat in Vorderasien. Es grenzt an Israel, den im Westjordanland gelegenen Teil der Palstinensischen Autonomiegebiete, wobei die Grenze unter israelischer Kontrolleist, Syrien, Irak, Saudi-Arabien undan das Rote Meer (Golf von Aqaba), an dem es eine Seegrenze zugypten hat. Jordanien zhlt zuden so genannten Maschrek-Staaten. Politisch ist der Maschrek nicht genau definiert, doch im Allgemeinen werden damit die Lnder mit arabischsprachiger Mehrheit stlich von Libyen undnrdlich von Saudi-Arabien bezeichnet, im Einzelnen die Staaten gypten, Palstina/Israel, Jordanien, Libanon, Syrien und Irak. Das Gegenstck zum Maschrek ist der Maghreb( al-maghrib, DMGal-maribder Westen, abgeleitet vomVerb gharaba/ / araba/weggehen, untergehen (Sonne)). Jordan (Arabic: al-Urdun),officially the Hashemite Kingdomof Jordan (Arabic: al-Mamlakahal-Urdunyah al-Hshimyah), isan Arab kingdom in Western Asia, on the East Bank ofthe Jordan River, andextending intothe historic region ofPalestine. Jordan bordersSaudi Arabia to the south and east, Iraqtothe north-east, Syriatothe north, andPalestine, the DeadSea andIsrael tothe west. The kingdom emerged from the post-World War Idivision ofWest Asia by Britain andFrance. In 1946, Jordanbecame an independent sovereign state officially known as the Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan. After capturing the West Bank during the 1948 ArabIsraeli War, Abdullah Itook the title Kingof Jordanand Palestine. The name ofthe state was changed toThe Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on 1 December 1948.
