2 Funktionsweise2.1 ArbeitsweiseSie haben mit dem Saugroboter „Libero“ ei-nen vollautomatisch arbeitenden Saugrobotererworben. Ihr Roboter durchläuft beim Reinigen die fol-genden 3 Modi:� „Zufallsmodus“ (Abb. 4/A, Abb. 5/B)� „Kreiselmodus“ (Abb. 4/B)� „Kantenmodus“ (Abb. 5/A)Falls das Gerät am Ende des „Kantenmodus“nicht abgeschaltet wird, beginnt der Zyklus er-neut mit dem „Zufallsmodus“.Diese Programmabfolge ermöglicht das lü-ckenlose Reinigen auf der Grundlage sichüberlappender Bahnen. Voraussetzung hier-für ist, dass der Raum nicht zu groß ist unddas Gerät im „Kreiselmodus“ nicht zu früh aufein Hindernis trifft. Falls das Gerät auf ein Hindernis trifft, regist-riert dies der Stoßfänger und es ändert dieFahrtrichtung. Falls das Gerät im „Kreiselmo-dus“ auf ein Hindernis trifft, geht es sofort inden „Kantenmodus“ über.

2.2 AbsturzsicherungIhr Saugroboter erkennt mithilfe von3 Fallsensoren selbstständig vor ihm liegendeAbgründe (Abb. 6). Er ändert daraufhin seineFahrtrichtung und reinigt in entgegengesetz-ter Richtung weiter. Tieferliegende Flächen, wie z. B. Treppenstu-fen, werden erkannt und somit von der Reini-gung ausgespart.Die Empfindlichkeit der Fallsensoren könnenSie einstellen, �Kapitel 6.1, „Empfindlichkeitder Fallsensoren einstellen“.

Lesen Sie die Bedienungsanleitung vollstän-dig durch, bevor Sie mit dem Gerät arbeiten. Bewahren Sie die Anleitung gut auf. Falls Siedas Gerät an Dritte weitergeben, geben Sieauch die Bedienungsanleitung mit. Die Nichtbeachtung dieser Anleitung kannzu schweren Verletzungen oder Schädenam Gerät führen. Für Schäden, die aufgrund der Nichtbeach-tung dieser Bedienungsanleitung entstehen,übernehmen wir keine Haftung.

3.3 zur StromversorgungDas Gerät wird mit elektrischem Strom aufge-laden. Dabei besteht grundsätzlich die Gefahreines elektrischen Schlags. Achten Sie daherbesonders auf Folgendes:� Fassen Sie das Netzteil niemals mit nas-sen Händen an.� Tauchen Sie Gerät oder Netzteil niemalsin Wasser oder andere Flüssigkeiten und hal-ten Sie es von Regen und Nässe fern.� Wenn Sie das Netzteil aus der Steckdoseherausziehen wollen, ziehen Sie immer direktam Netzteil. Ziehen Sie niemals am Netzteil-kabel. Missbrauchen Sie das Netzteilkabelnicht zum Tragen des Netzteils.

� Achten Sie darauf, dass das Netzteilkabelnicht geknickt, eingeklemmt oder überfahrenwird oder mit Hitzequellen in Berührung kom-men kann.� Laden Sie das Gerät nur, wenn die aufdem Netzteil angegebene elektrische Span-nung mit der Spannung Ihrer Steckdose über-einstimmt.� Kontrollieren Sie das Netzteilkabel vordem Benutzen des Netzteils auf eventuelleBeschädigungen.� Bevor Sie damit beginnen, das Gerät zu rei-nigen oder zu warten, stellen Sie sicher, dassdas Netzteil aus der Steckdose gezogen ist.

letzungs- und Explosionsgefahr.� Sollte es erforderlich sein, den Akkupackauszutauschen, wenden Sie sich an einenFachhändler oder den Royal Appliance Kun-dendienst. Ersetzen Sie den Akkupack nie-mals selbst. Ersetzen Sie den Akkupack nichtdurch andere Akkus oder Batterien. � Bevor Sie damit beginnen, den Akkupackein- oder auszubauen, stellen Sie sicher,dass das Netzteil aus der Steckdose gezogenist.� Schließen Sie den Akkupack niemalskurz, d. h. berühren Sie niemals beide Polezur gleichen Zeit, insbesondere nicht mit elek-trisch leitenden Gegenständen.

� Nehmen Sie den Akkupack niemals aus-einander und setzen Sie ihn niemals hohenTemperaturen aus. � Bei unsachgemäßem Umgang kann Flüs-sigkeit aus dem Akkupack austreten. Vermei-den Sie Kontakt mit der Flüssigkeit.� Verwenden Sie ausschließlich das mitge-lieferte Netzteil zum Aufladen des Akkupacks.Laden Sie den Akkupack keinesfalls mit ei-nem anderen Netzteil. Nutzen Sie das mitge-lieferte Netzteil wiederum ausschließlich zumAufladen des Akkupacks dieses Geräts. � Entsorgen Sie den Akkupack nachGebrauchsende ausschließlich umweltge-recht und wie beschrieben, �Kapitel 9.4,„Akkupack ausbauen“.

3.5 zur bestimmungsgemäßen Verwendung� Das Gerät darf nur im Haushalt eingesetztwerden. Dabei werden die besten Reini-gungsergebnisse in kleinen oder in sich ge-schlossenen Räumen erzielt. Das Gerät ist füreine gewerbliche Nutzung nicht geeignet.� Das Gerät darf ausschließlich für das Rei-nigen auf ebenen, normal verschmutztenHartböden eingesetzt werden. Falls die Rund-besen nicht montiert sind, können Sie es auchauf kurzflorigem Teppich einsetzen.� Jede weitere Verwendung gilt als nicht be-stimmungsgemäß und ist untersagt.

� Verboten ist insbesondere:- Gebrauch, Aufbewahrung oder Aufla-

den des Geräts im Freien.- Das Abstellen von Gegenständen auf

dem Gerät.- Das selbstständige Umbauen oder Re-

parieren des Geräts oder seines Netz-teils.

- Das Hineinstecken von anderen Gegen-ständen in Öffnungen des Geräts alsden in dieser Anleitung beschriebenen.

- Die Verwendung in der Nähe von explo-siven oder leicht entzündlichen Stoffen.

� Verboten ist das Saugen von:- Menschen, Tieren, Pflanzen, insbeson-

dere Haaren, Fingern und anderen Kör-perteilen sowie am Körper befindlichenKleidungsstücken. Sie könnten einge-zogen werden und Verletzungen her-vorrufen.

- Wasser und anderen Flüssigkeiten.Feuchtigkeit im Inneren kann zum Kurz-schluss führen.

- Toner (für Laserdrucker, Kopierer etc.).Es besteht Explosionsgefahr.

- glühender Asche, brennenden Zigaret-ten oder Streichhölzern. Es kann zumBrand kommen.

- spitzen Gegenständen, wie Glassplit-tern, Nägeln etc. Gerät oder Untergrundkönnten beschädigt werden.

- Bauschutt, Gips, Zement, feinstemBohrstaub, Schminke, Puder etc. DasGerät könnte beschädigt werden.

� Verboten ist zudem der Einsatz ...- ... auf langflorigen Teppichen.- ... auf feuchten Böden.- ... ohne dass Filter, Staubbehälter und

Deckel korrekt eingesetzt sind.

heit und Vollständigkeit (Abb. 1).

4.2 Rundbesen montieren

1. Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Gerät ausge-schaltet ist (Ein-/Aus-Schalter in Stellung„0“).

2. Stecken Sie die Rundbesen wie abgebil-det nacheinander auf (Abb. 7).

ACHTUNG:Heben Sie die Verpackung für die Lagerungdes Geräts oder für einen sicheren Versanddes Gerätes auf. Versenden Sie das Gerätstets in der Originalverpackung, damit eskeinen Schaden nimmt.

HINWEIS:Falls Sie einen Transportschaden bemer-ken, wenden Sie sich an Ihren Händler.

2. Ziehen Sie den Deckel des Akkufachskräftig ab (Abb. 9, „OPEN“).

3. Legen Sie den mitgelieferten Akkupackein. Achten Sie dabei auf Folgendes:- Der Aufkleber mit der Aufschrift

„This side up“ zeigt nach oben(Abb. 10).

- Die Kontakte im Akkufach müssen in dieAussparungen in der Isolierung des Ak-kupacks greifen können (Abb. 10).

- Lassen Sie den Akkupack dazu erst aufder Seite mit den Kontakten ins Ak-kufach gleiten (Abb. 11).

- Lassen Sie auf der Seite der Kontaktegroßzügig Platz, damit Sie die Kontaktenicht quetschen (Abb. 11).

- Drücken Sie den Akkupack nun auf deranderen Seite in das Akkufach(Abb. 12).

- Er muss nun eben auf dem Boden desAkkufachs aufliegen (Abb. 12).

4. Setzen Sie den Deckel des Akkufachswieder auf (Abb. 9) und schieben Sie ihnkräftig in seine Konsole. Der Deckel rastethör- und spürbar ein.

Bevor Sie mit dem Gerät arbeiten können,muss sein Akkupack geladen werden. Dazu:1. Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Gerät ausge-

schaltet ist (Ein-/Aus-Schalter in Stellung„0“).

2. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Akkupack kor-rekt eingelegt ist, �Kapitel 4.3, „Akkupackeinsetzen“.

3. Stecken Sie den Netzteiladapter in die La-debuchse an der Seite des Geräts(Abb. 13).

4. Stecken Sie das Netzteil in eine Steckdo-se, an der die auf dem Typenschild desNetzteils angegebene Spannung anliegt(Abb. 14).- Die Ladekontrollleuchte „ “ blinkt

blau.5. Lassen Sie den Akkupack nun ca. 4 Stun-

den aufladen, bis die Ladekontrollleuchte„ “ dauerhaft blau leuchtet (Abb. 14).

6. Wenn die Ladekontrollleuchte „ “ dauer-haft blau leuchtet, ziehen Sie das Netzteil-kabel zuerst aus der Steckdose und dannaus dem Gerät.

WARNUNG:Verletzungsgefahr durch unsachgemäßesAufladen! Verwenden Sie ausschließlichdas mitgelieferte Netzteil zum Aufladen desAkkupacks.

HINWEIS:Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Gerät ausge-schaltet ist (Ein-/Aus-Schalter in Stellung„0“), bevor Sie das Netzteil zum Aufladenanschließen. Ein eingeschaltetes Gerätkann zwar auch aufgeladen werden, aller-dings müssen Sie es vor dem Gebrauchdann einmal aus- und wieder einschalten.Anderenfalls läuft das Gerät nicht an.

HINWEIS:Ihr Gerät verfügt über einen Ladetimer. EinLadezyklus dauert ca. 4 Stunden. DerLadezyklus wird nach 4 Stunden automa-tisch beendet. Wenn Sie das Gerät vomStromnetz trennen, und es dann wieder mitdem Stromnetz verbinden, beginnt derLadezyklus erneut. Warten Sie also, bis dieLadekontrollleuchte („ “) dauerhaft blauleuchtet, bevor Sie das Gerät vom Netznehmen. Vollständige Lade- und Entladezy-klen sorgen für eine längere Akkulebens-dauer.

HINWEIS:Laden Sie das Gerät erneut, wenn die Bat-terieanzeige „ “ am Gerät dauerhaft rotleuchtet oder wenn Sie das Gerät langeZeit nicht eingesetzt haben. Jeder weitereLadevorgang dauert ebenfalls 4 Stunden.

6.2 Raum vorbereiten

WARNUNG:Achten Sie darauf, dass sich im zu reini-genden Raum keine Kinder und Haustierebefinden und dass diese auch keinenZugang zu ihm haben.

ACHTUNG:Das Gerät besitzt einen kraftvollen Antrieb.Unterschätzen Sie die Kraft nicht, die vonihm ausgeht. Bringen Sie zerbrechlicheGegenstände und solche, die kippen oderherunterfallen können, wenn das Gerätdagegen fährt, in Sicherheit.

ACHTUNG:Befreien Sie den Bodenbelag von scharf-kantigen und spitzen Gegenständen, dieOberflächen zerkratzen können, wenn Sieunter die Rundbesen des Geräts gelangen.

HINWEIS:Dieser Saugroboter kann nur geringeSchmutzmengen aufnehmen. Er ist keinErsatz für einen klassischen Staubsauger.Reinigen Sie übermäßig verschmutzteBereiche mit einem Staubsauger vor. Set-zen Sie den Saugroboter regelmäßig ein,damit sich gar nicht erst größe Schmutz-mengen ansammeln können.

HINWEIS:Dieser Saugroboter saugt effizienter, wenner auf möglichst wenige Hindernisse trifftund der Belag nicht all zu oft wechselt.Möglicherweise lohnt es sich also, denRaum von potenziellen Hindernissen,Kabeln, Matten, Vorlegern und dergleichenzu befreien. Treffen Sie Vorkehrungen,damit der Roboter den Raum nicht vorzeitigverlassen kann.

7 Gebrauch7.1 Hartböden reinigen

1. Setzen Sie das Gerät in die Mitte des zureinigenden Raums.

2. Schalten Sie das Gerät an dessen Ein-/Aus-Schalter (Abb. 19) an.

� Die beiden äußeren LEDs blinken ab-wechselnd.

� Das Gerät beginnt nach ca. 8 Sekundenim „Zufallsmodus“ Bahnen zu fahren(Abb. 20/A).

� Nach ca. 3 Minuten wechselt das Gerät inden „Kreiselmodus“ und fährt größer wer-dende Kreise (Abb. 20/B).

� Sobald das Gerät in diesem Modus auf einHindernis trifft, wechselt das Gerät in den„Kantenmodus“ (Abb. 21/A). In diesemModus fährt es die Kanten des zu reini-genden Raumes für ca. 3 Minuten ab.

� Danach beginnt der Zyklus von vorn(Abb. 21/B).

ACHTUNG:Bevor Sie das Gerät zum Saugen von kurzflorigen Teppichen einsetzen können, müssen Sie eswie nachfolgend beschrieben vorbereiten. Anderenfalls würde das Gerät auf Teppichboden nichtvorankommen. Sehen Sie zudem davon ab, das Gerät auf langflorigen Teppichen einzusetzen. Inbeiden Fällen können die Motoren des Geräts durch Überlastung Schaden nehmen.

HINWEIS:Wenn Sie das im Betrieb befindliche Gerät anheben, schalten sich die Motoren nach ca.8 Sekunden ohne Bodenkontakt selbsttätig ab. Das Gerät ist dann aber nicht ausgeschaltet(blaue LED leuchtet weiterhin), sondern läuft wieder an, sobald es auf einen Untergrund gestelltwird.

9. Falls sich Staubbehälter und Filter da-durch nicht mehr vollständig leeren/reini-gen lassen, gehen Sie vor wie unter�Kapitel 8.3, „Staubbehälter und Filterreinigen“ beschrieben.

ständig entleeren lässt (�Kapitel 8.2, „Staub-behälter leeren“) oder Sie Verschmutzungenam Filter nicht mehr von Hand beheben kön-nen:

1. Entnehmen und leeren Sie den Staubbe-hälter wie unter �Kapitel 8.2, „Staub-behälter leeren“ beschrieben.

2. Spülen Sie den Staubbehälter von Handunter fließend kaltem oder handwarmemWasser gründlich aus (Abb. 29), bis alleVerschmutzungen beseitigt sind.

3. Spülen Sie den Filter von Hand unter flie-ßend kaltem oder handwarmem Wassergründlich aus (Abb. 30), bis alle Ver-schmutzungen beseitigt sind.

4. Lassen Sie beide Elemente mindestens24 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur trocknen(Abb. 31), bis diese vollkommen trockensind.

5. Setzen Sie den Filter so zurück in denStaubbehälter, dass das Kunstoffgitterdes Filters zu sehen ist (Abb. 32). Drü-cken Sie den Filter kräftig an.

6. Fahren Sie fort wie unter �Kapitel 8.4,„Staubbehälter und Filter einsetzen“ be-schrieben.

Soll-ten Sie das Problem mit Hilfe dieser Tabelle nicht beheben können, wenden Sie sich an unsere Ser-vice-Hotline (�Seite 22) und schildern Sie uns das Problem.

Der Staubbehälter ist überfüllt oder der Filter ist verschmutzt.Schalten Sie das Gerät am Ein-/Aus-Schalter aus (Stellung „0“) und gehen Sie vor wie unter �Kapitel 8, „Nach dem Gebrauch“ beschrieben.

Das Gerät läuft zwar an, fährt aber andauernd rück-wärts.

Der Schieberegler zur Einstellung der Empfindlichkeit der Fallsensoren steht auf einer Stellung für helle Böden, während das Gerät auf einem dunklen Bo-den eingesetzt wird.Passen Sie die Stellung des Schiebereglers zur Einstellung der Empfindlich-keit der Fallsensoren an, �Kapitel 6.1, „Empfindlichkeit der Fallsensoren einstellen“.

Das Gerät reinigt den zu reinigen-den Raum nur teil-weise.

Das Gerät kann � je nach Größe des zu reinigenden Raumes � am Ende der3 Modi nicht zwangsläufig überall gewesen sein. Lassen Sie das Gerät laufen, bis es jeden Bereich des Raumes abgefahrenhat.

Das Gerät fährt im „Zufallsmodus“ trotz freier Fläche keine geraden Bahnen.

Möglicherweise wird eines der Räder durch Verschmutzungen daran gehin-dert, frei zu drehen.Befreien Sie das Rad von Verschmutzungen. Falls erforderlich, setzen Sie dazu sorgfältig eine Schere oder Pinzette ein.

Der Rundbesen dreht sich nicht mehr.

Möglicherweise wird dieser Rundbesen durch Verschmutzungen daran ge-hindert, frei zu drehen.Bauen Sie den Rundbesen aus (�Kapitel 4.2, „Rundbesen montieren“) und befreien Sie ihn und seine Aufnahme von Verschmutzungen. Falls erforder-lich, setzen Sie dazu sorgfältig eine Schere oder Pinzette ein.

Das Gerät hat sich festgefahren.

Helfen Sie von Hand etwas nach, indem Sie dem Gerät einen Schubs geben.

Das Gerät hält von allein an.

Die Leistung des Akkupacks ist zu schwach.Schalten Sie das Gerät am Ein-/Aus-Schalter aus (Stellung „0“) und laden Sie den Akkupack wie beschrieben, �Kapitel 5, „Akkupack im Gerät laden“.

2 Functionality2.1 Mode of operationWith the "Libero" robot vacuum you have pur-chased a robot vacuum that works fully auto-matically. When cleaning, your robot runs through thefollowing 3 modes:� "Random mode" (Fig. 4/A, Fig. 5/B)� "Gyro mode" (Fig. 4/B)� "Edge mode" (Fig. 5/A)If the appliance does not switch off at the endof "edge mode" the cycle starts over againwith "random mode".This program sequence enables seamlesscleaning on the basis of overlapping paths.The prerequisites in this regard are that theroom must not be too large, and that the appli-ance does not encounter an obstacle too soonin "gyro mode". If the appliance encounters an obstacle, thebumper registers this and it changes the di-rection of travel. If the appliance encountersan obstacle in "gyro mode” it immediatelytransitions to "edge mode".

2.2 Fall safeguardWith the aid of 3 fall sensors, your robot vac-uum automatically detects drop-offs in front ofit (Fig. 6). If a drop-off is detected it changesits direction of travel and continues to clean inthe opposite direction. Lower-level surfaces, such as stairs are de-tected and thus omitted from the cleaning.You can adjust the sensitivity of the fall sen-sors, �Chapter 6.1, ‘Adjusting the sensitivityof the fall sensors’.

3 Safety instructions3.1 Concerning the operating manual

Read this operating manual completely be-fore using the appliance. Keep the operating manual in a safe place. Ifyou pass the appliance on to someone else,give them the operating manual as well. Failure to comply with these instructionscan lead to serious injuries or damage tothe appliance. We assume no liability for damage that occursas a result of failure to comply with the instruc-tions in this operating manual.

3.2 Concerning certain groups of persons� These appliances can be used by childrenof 8 years and upwards and persons with im-paired physical, sensory or mental abilities, orinsufficient experience or knowledge, provid-ing they are supervised or have been instruct-ed in the proper use of the appliance and un-derstand the risks involved. � The appliance is not a toy. Children mustnot play with the appliance. � Children must not perform cleaning or us-er maintenance tasks without supervision.

� As the manufacturer, we strongly adviseagainst children of any age using the appli-ance, for safety reasons. Children, regardlessof age, will not fully recognize or understandthe risks posed by this appliance. Keep theappliance out of reach of people of thesegroups.� Children must not be allowed to stand orsit on the appliance. � Packing material must not be used to playwith. 3.3 Concerning the power supplyThe appliance is charged with electrical pow-er. There is always danger of electrical shock.Therefore pay particular attention to the follow-ing:� Never touch the AC adapter with wethands.� Never immerse the appliance or the ACadapter in water or other fluids, and keep theappliance and AC adapter away from rain andmoisture.� If you want to pull the AC adapter out ofthe socket, always pull directly on the plug.Never pull the AC adapter via the power cord.Do not carry the AC adapter by its power cord.

� Ensure that the AC adapter's power cordis not bent, pinched, rolled over or comes intocontact with heat sources.� Only charge the appliance if the voltageindicated on the AC adapter matches the volt-age of your socket.� Always check the AC adapter's powercord for possible damage before using it.� Before cleaning or performing maintenanceon the appliance, ensure that the AC adapterhas been removed from the socket.

3.4 Concerning the provided battery packDanger of injury and explosion due to improp-er handling of the battery pack.� If the battery pack must be replaced, con-tact a specialist dealer or Royal ApplianceCustomer Services. Never replace the batterypack yourself. Do not replace the battery packwith other rechargeable batteries or batteries. � Before removing the battery pack, ensurethat the AC adapter has been removed fromthe socket.� Never short-circuit the battery pack, i.e.never touch both poles simultaneously, espe-cially with metal objects.

� Never take the battery pack apart, andnever expose it to high temperatures. � Improper handling can lead to liquid leak-ing from the battery pack. Avoid any contactwith the liquid.� Only use the AC adapter supplied with theappliance to charge the battery pack. Nevercharge the battery pack with a different ACadapter. 3.5 Concerning appropriate use� This appliance may only be used in thehousehold. The best cleaning result isachieved in small or enclosed rooms. The ap-pliance is not suitable for commercial use.� The appliance must only be used forcleaning on level, hard floors with normal ac-cumulation of dirt or dust. If the round broomsare not mounted it can also be used on shortpile carpet.� Any other use is considered inappropriateand is prohibited.

� It is especially forbidden:- To use, store or charge the appliance

outdoors.- To put objects on the appliance.- To modify or repair the appliance or the

AC adapter yourself.- To insert objects, other than the objects

described in this manual, into the open-ings of the appliance.

2. Forcefully pull off the cover of the batterycompartment (Fig. 9, "OPEN").

3. Insert the provided battery pack. In thisprocess ensure the following:- The sticker with the text "This side up"

must be facing up (Fig. 10).- The contacts in the battery pack must be

able to engage in the apertures in the in-sulation of the battery pack (Fig. 10).

- Let the battery pack first slide into thebattery compartment on the side withthe contacts (Fig. 11).

- Leave enough space on the side of thecontacts that you do not crush the con-tacts (Fig. 11).

- Then press the battery pack into the bat-tery compartment on the other side(Fig. 12).

- The battery pack must now rest evenlyon the bottom of the battery compart-ment (Fig. 12).

4. Fit the cover of the battery compartmentback on (Fig. 9) and slide it forcefully intoits bracket. You will feel and hear the cov-er snap into place.

The battery pack must be charged beforeworking with the appliance. To do this:1. Ensure that the appliance is switched off

(On/Off switch in the "0" position). 2. Ensure that the battery pack is correctly

inserted, �Chapter 4.3, ‘Inserting the bat-tery pack’.

3. Insert the AC adapter into the chargersocket on the side of the appliance(Fig. 13).

4. Connect the AC adapter to a socket thatcarries the same voltage as that specifiedon the type plate of the AC adapter(Fig. 14).- The charge indicator light " " is flash-

ing blue.5. Now charge the battery pack for approx. 4

hours, until the charging indicator light" " is continuously illuminated blue(Fig. 14).

6. When the charging indicator light “ ” iscontinuously illuminated blue, first pull theAC adapter cord out of the socket, andthen pull it out of the appliance.

WARNING:Danger of injury due to incorrect charging!Only use the AC adapter supplied with theappliance to charge the battery pack.

NOTE:Ensure that the appliance is switched off(On/Off switch in the "0" position), beforeyou connect the AC adapter for charging. Aswitched on appliance can also be charged,however in this case you must switch it onand off once before use. Otherwise theappliance will not start up.

NOTE:The appliance has a charge timer. A chargecycle lasts approx. 4 hours. The chargecycle will end automatically after 4 hours. Ifyou disconnect the appliance from themains supply, and then reconnect it to themains supply the charge cycle will start overagain. Thus, wait until the charge indicatorlight (" ") is continuously illuminated bluebefore disconnecting the appliance from themains supply. Complete charge and dis-charge cycles ensure a longer service life ofthe rechargeable battery.

NOTE:Recharge the appliance, when the batteryindicator " " on the appliance is continu-ously illuminated red, or if you have notused the appliance for a long time. Anysubsequent charging cycle will also takeapprox. 4 hours.

6.2 Preparing the room

WARNING:Ensure that no children or pets are in theroom or have access to the room to becleaned.

ATTENTION:The appliance has a powerful drive. Do notunderestimate its power. Put into a safeplace objects that are fragile or could toppleor fall over if the appliance drives into them.

ATTENTION:Remove pointed and sharp objects from thefloor that could scratch surfaces if they getunder the round brooms of the appliance.

NOTE:The robot vacuum can only take up smallamounts of dirt. It does not replace a classicvacuum cleaner. Clean particularly dirtyareas with a vacuum cleaner beforehand.Use the robot vacuum regularly so thatlarge amounts of dirt cannot accumulate.

NOTE:This robot vacuum vacuums more effi-ciently if it encounters as few obstructionsas possible and the covering does notchange often. It may also be worthwhile toclear the room of potential obstacles,cables, mats, carpet runners and similaritems. Take measures so that the robot can-not leave the room prematurely.

7 Use7.1 Cleaning hard floors

1. Place the appliance in the middle of theroom to be cleaned.

2. Turn on the cleaning robot using the On/Off switch (Fig. 19).

� The two outside LEDs will be flashing al-ternately.

� After approx. 8 seconds the appliance willstart to move in "random mode" passes(Fig. 20/A).

� After approx. 3 minutes the appliancechanges to "gyro mode" and moves in ev-er larger circles (Fig. 20/B).

� In this mode, as soon as the appliance en-counters an obstacle, it changes to "edgemode" (Fig. 21/A). In this mode it travers-es the edges of the room to be cleaned forapproximately 3 minutes.

� Thereafter the cycle starts all over again(Fig. 21/B).

� If the appliance keeps hitting an object,give it a light shove with your hand.

� You can switch off the appliance at anytime.

� When the capacity of the battery pack di-minishes, the battery indicator " " will becontinuously illuminated red and the appli-ance will stop a short while later. - If this is the case, the robot will then

beep every 60 seconds so that you caneasily find it. If the battery pack is com-pletely empty, even this beep functionwill stop.

- In this case, switch off the appliance andcharge the battery pack as described,�Chapter 5, ‘Charging the battery packin the appliance’.

WARNING:Danger of injury! You can let the appliancerun unsupervised, however always be care-ful not to step on it, this could cause you tofall.

7.3 Switching offProceed as follows to switch off the appliance:1. Switch off the appliance with the On/Off

switch (Fig. 23) (position "0").- The LEDs will go out.

2. If you want to stop working with the appli-ance, empty the dust container, �Chapter8.2, ‘Emptying the dust container’.

ATTENTION:Before you can use the appliance to vacuum short pile carpets you must prepare it as describedbelow. Otherwise the appliance would not be able to move forward on carpet. In addition, do notuse the appliance on long pile carpet. In either case the motors of the appliance could be dam-aged due to overload.

NOTE:If you lift the appliance while it is in opera-tion, the motors will switch off automaticallyafter approx. 8 seconds without floor con-tact. However, in this case the appliance isnot switched off (blue LED remains illumi-nated); it will start up again as soon as it isplaced on a substrate.

8.2 Emptying the dust container

Proceed as follows to empty the dust contain-er:1. Ensure that the appliance is switched off

(On/Off switch in the "0" position).2. Reach into the recessed grip as shown

and unlock the cover of the dust containercompartment (Fig. 24).

3. Remove the cover of the dust containercompartment from the appliance (Fig. 25).

4. Next, take off the cover of the dust con-tainer (Fig. 26).

ATTENTION:Never store the appliance next to heatsources (e.g. heater, oven). Avoid exposingit to direct sunlight. Heat can damage theappliance.

8. Tap lightly to knock out both parts(Fig. 28) and remove coarser debris withyour hand.

9. If dust container and filter can no longer becompletely emptied/cleaned through thismeasure, proceed as described under�Chapter 8.3, ‘Cleaning dust containerand filter’.

8.3 Cleaning dust container and filterIf the dust container can no longer be com-pletely emptied (�Chapter 8.2, ‘Emptying thedust container’) or if you can no longer re-move dirt on the filter by hand:

1. Take out and empty the dust container asdescribed under �Chapter 8.2, ‘Emptyingthe dust container’.

2. Thoroughly rinse out the dust container byhand under cold running water or luke-warm water (Fig. 29).

3. Thoroughly rinse out the filter by hand un-der cold running water or lukewarm water(Fig. 30), until all the dirt is removed.

4. Let both elements dry for at least 24 hoursat room temperature (Fig. 31), until theyare completely dry.

5. Put the filter back in the dust container insuch a manner that the plastic grille of thefilter can be seen (Fig. 32). Forcefullypress on the filter.

6. Proceed as described under �Chapter8.4, ‘Inserting the dust container and filter’.

3. Forcefully fit the dust container cover backon (Fig. 34). It will audibly click into place.

4. First, fit on the cover of the dust containercompartment so that the 3 tabs on thecover engage in the 3 slots in the dustcontainer cover provided for this purpose(Fig. 35).

5. Then press on the back of the cover of thedust container compartment (Fig. 36). Itwill tangibly and audibly snap into place.

The appliance was switched on (position "I") during the charging process.Switch off the appliance via the On/Off switch (position "0") and switch it back on again (position "I"). The appliance will then start up.

The cover of the dust container compartment has been taken off while the appliance was still switched on.Switch off the appliance via the On/Off switch (position "0") and switch it back on again (position "I"). The appliance will then start up.

The cover of the dust container is not correctly seated. Switch off the appli-ance via the On/Off switch (position "0") and correctly insert the cover of the dust container compartment as described, �Chapter 8.4, ‘Inserting the dust container and filter’.

The battery indicator " " is illuminated red.

The capacity of the battery pack is too weak.Switch off the appliance via the On/Off switch (position "0") and charge the battery pack as described, �Chapter 5, ‘Charging the battery pack in the appliance’.

The appliance has no ground contact.Place the appliance on the floor. It will now directly start cleaning.

The cleaning indica-tor " " is illuminat-ed red.

The dust container is overfilled or the filter is clogged.Switch off the appliance via the On/Off switch (position "0") and proceed as described under �Chapter 8, ‘After use’.

The appliance starts up, but it continu-ously moves back-ward.

The slide controller for adjusting the sensitivity of the fall sensors is set on a position for a light floor, although the appliance is being used on a dark floor.Adjust the setting of the slide controller to the sensitivity setting of the fall sensors, �Chapter 6.1, ‘Adjusting the sensitivity of the fall sensors’.

The appliance only cleans part of the room to be cleaned.

Depending on the size of the room to be cleaned, the appliance may - atthe end of the 3 modes - not necessarily have been everywhere. Let the appliance run until it has travelled over every area of the room.

In “random mode" the appliance does not move in straight paths, although the area is free.

One of the wheels may be being hindered from turning by dirt.Remove dirt from the wheel. If required, carefully use scissors or tweezers.

The round broom has stopped turning.

This round broom might be prevented from freely turning by dirt.Remove the round broom (�Chapter 4.2, ‘Mounting the round brooms’) and free it and its receptacle of dirt. If required, carefully use scissors or tweezers.

The appliance is stuck against an ob-stacle.

Give the appliance a shove with your hand.

The appliance stops by itself.

The capacity of the battery pack is too weak.Switch off the appliance via the On/Off switch (position "0") and charge the battery pack as described, �Chapter 5, ‘Charging the battery pack in the appliance’.

The appliance will not charge.

The AC adapter is not plugged in properly. Check whether the plug or the AC adapter are fitted correctly in their sock-ets (�Chapter 5, ‘Charging the battery pack in the appliance’).

The operating time is becoming in-creasingly shorter.

The wheels may be being prevented from turning by dirt. This increases the power required.Remove dirt from the wheels. If required, carefully use scissors or twee-zers.

10 Warranty10.1 Warranty conditionsWe offer a warranty of 24 months from thedate of purchase for the appliances we sell.Within this warranty period, we will correct alldefects free of charge that are due to materialor manufacturing faults, either by repair workor replacing the appliance or accessories, atour discretion (damage to accessory partsdoes not automatically lead to the entire appli-ance being replaced). The warranty does notcover damage due to improper use (operatingon the wrong power type/voltage, connectingto unsuitable power sources, breakage, etc.),normal wear and defects that only insignifi-cantly affect the value or the serviceability ofthe appliance.

Intervention by unauthorised parties or theuse of parts other than original Royal Appli-ance spare parts cause the warranty to be-come null and void. Wear parts are not includ-ed in the warranty and therefore must bepurchased by the customer! The warranty isonly valid if the date of purchase is confirmedby the dealer's stamp and signature on thewarranty card or if a copy of the invoice is in-cluded with the appliance that has been sentin. Warranty work does not extend the warran-ty period nor does it constitute a claim for anew warranty!

10.2 In case of a warranty claimTo make a claim under warranty, send us theappliance with its dust container empty and ashort description of the fault in block letters.Head your accompanying letter with the com-ment “warranty claim”.
