eat city. The competitionline 2014/15 gingerbread competition

It‘s that time of the year again: competition-line is holding the eat city gingerbread com-petition for the sixth time. After finding a host of delicious solutions in recent years for the City Palace, Tempelhof airport and the Monu-ment to Freedom and Unity, entrants to this year‘s baking challenge will face something that has already burnt a lot of fingers:

The tale of woe that is this flagship project has already generated a mountain of const-ruction and court files. Will we ever see pla-nes taking to the skies from this airport, or what should be done with the BER instead? Who has a solution?

BER – pie in the sky or a piece of cake?

Surprise and seduce our jury of architects, journalists and professors with delicious,

humorous ideas for BER, the city‘s new inter-national airport. Who will manage to create a viable airport bakery concept using edible ingredients? Who will deliver it fresh from the oven or the refrigerator on schedule?And with a free choice of ingredients and recipes, the sky is the limit when it comes to ideas!

The competition is open to everybody and any-body wanting to rise to the creative challenge – on their own or with colleagues, children, friends and all gingerbread connoisseurs and lovers of sweet pastries.

Who can take part?

Anybody who wants to can take part!To give children (under 14 yrs) a fair chan-ce of winning, their work will be judged and awarded separately under the „Junior star architects“ category.

Entering the competition

Entries can be submitted online at:www.competitionline.com/BER .

Registered users of competitionline can enter using their normal access data. Everyone else must register first. Entry to the competition is free of charge and without obligation.

Queries

The answer to most questions is: the sky is the limit!Any other outstanding queries can be pos-

ted in the online participants‘ area under the heading „Rückfragen“ (Queries) until 12 December 2014. Answers to these queries will be posted in the same place by 19 December 2014 at the latest.

Competition language

The competition languages are German and English.

Competition documents

All the documents needed for the competition will be available for download in the online participants‘ area under the heading „Unter-lagen“ (Documents) from 24 November 2014.

Submission of entries

Your creations must be photographed and submitted digitally. A maximum of 4 image files (JPG format) and a descriptive text (1,800 lines maximum) may be uploaded to the online participants‘ area under the heading „Wettbewerbsabgabe“ (Competition submis-sions). The images will be showcased to the jury in a projector presentation. We therefo-re recommend that particular emphasis is placed on eye-catching imagery. The image files may also be published afterwards on the competitionline website.

Please also complete the separate „Verfasser-erklärung“ (Declaration of authorship) online form. Your contribution will only be entered in the competition if both forms have been completed in full. Please make sure that the „Wettbewerbsabgabe vollständig“ (Competiti-on submission complete) and „Verfassererklä-rung vollständig“ (Declaration of authorship complete) prompts are displayed in green writing. This is your guarantee that your con-

tribution has been entered in the competition.

Ownership and copyright

Prize winners‘ entries will pass wholly into the possession of competitiononline and will be archived. The copyright and the right to publish the designs are retained by the author. After the conclusion of the competition, com-petitionline is entitled to document, display and publish in print and online media (inclu-ding via third parties) the works submitted for judging, without any further remuneration being due. The names of the authors of these works will be mentioned in the process.

Prizes

A total cash prize fund of €6,000 (including VAT) is available. This will be split up as fol-lows:

1st prize 2.500 €2nd prize 1.500 €3rd prize 1.000 € Recognitions for runners-up are Modulor gift certificates worth €1,000.-The jury can decide to divide up the prize fund in another way.

Children‘s prizes

Junior star architects will be presented with Modulor gift certificates worth €1,000.-. In addition, the overall Junior winner will be able to select one of these two prizes:

A multi-disciplinary prize jury will be conve-ning to judge the BER baking creations, and will judge and rank the entries and award the prizes on the basis of originality, creativity and presentation/execution.

Announcement of the results
