GrATwANdErUNG

Das Homburger Sinfonieorchester in Zusammenarbeit mit der Stadt Homburg richtet im Herbst 2014 den 4. internationalen Kompositions-wettbewerb der Stadt Homburg aus.

Das übergeordnete Thema des Wettbewerbs lautet: „Gratwanderung“.Eingereicht werden können Werke für Saxophon solo und Sinfonie-orchester. Das Thema spielt bewusst auf die Benutzung verschiede-ner musikalischer Stile an. Neben zeitgenössischen Spielformen sind durchaus die Einbeziehung von Elementen des Jazz und experimen-teller Musik jeder Art möglich, jedoch nicht Bedingung. Es bleibt der Kompo¬nistin oder dem Komponisten überlassen, für welches Saxo-phon (Sopran, Alt, Tenor, Bariton, Bass) sie oder er sich entscheidet. Es können maximal 2 verschiedene Saxophone (1 Spieler) in einem Werk eingesetzt werden.

TeilnahmebedingungenZugelassen sind Komponistinnen und Komponisten, die nach dem 1. Januar 1980 geboren sind.Das Werk muss bisher unveröffentlicht sein. Die Komposition soll hinsichtlich der Spielbarkeit den Möglichkeiten eines ambitionierten Amateurorchesters angemessen sein. Als Solist steht Guy Goethals, Professor für Saxophon am Konservatorium in Luxemburg, zur Verfügung..

Maximale Dauer des Werkes: 8 MinutenDie Partitur ist in vierfacher Ausfertigung und einem vollständigen Satz der gesamten Orchesterstimmen einzureichen. Die Einreichung erfolgt anonym. Bei der Einsendung ist darauf zu achten, dass der Name des/der Urheber(in) weder auf der Partitur noch auf den Orchesterstimmen erkennbar ist. Die Partitur ist mit einem Kennwort zu versehen. Der Sendung ist ein, mit dem gleichen Kennwort versehener, verschlossener Umschlag beizulegen.

Dieser Umschlag enthält folgende Unterlagen: • Name des Kandidaten, Anschrift, Telefonnummer und Email • künstlerischer Lebenslauf • Foto • Formlose, unterzeichnete Erklärung, aus der hervorgeht, dass er/ sie das Werk selbst verfasst hat und das vorliegende Werk noch nicht veröffentlicht wurde, sowie die Genehmigung an das Homburger Sinfonieorchester, die Werke aufzuführen und zu senden.

L‘orchestre symphonique de la Ville de Homburg (Sarre) organisera le 4ème Concours international de Composition en automne 2015 en coopération avec l‘administration communale de la Ville de Homburg.

Le sujet du concours de composition est une œuvre pour saxophone solo et orchestre symphonique qui correspond au thème „Sur la corde raide“: Le thème donné ouvre l‘accès à la diversité de styles et de techniques instrumentales du 20ème siècle, inclus les éléments du jazz et l‘improvisation libre. Toutefois l‘utilisation cumulative de différentes techniques et styles n‘est pas obligatoire.Le choix du saxophone utilisé reste libre, deux instruments différents (soprano, alto, ténor, baryton, basse) par œuvre étant le maximum.

ParticipationTous les compositeurs nés après le 1er janvier 1980 ont le droit de participer au concours. Seules des œuvres non publiées sont admises au concours. Le niveau de difficulté doit correspondre aux possibilités d‘un orchestre symphonique d‘amateurs de haut niveau.Guy Goethals, professeur de saxophone au Conservatoire municipal de la Ville de Luxembourg, sera le soliste lors de la création le 22 novem-bre.

Durée: max. 8 minutesLes candidats envoient quatre exemplaires du conducteur ainsi qu‘un jeu complet de partitions de l‘œuvre en question à l‘adresse indiquée.Afin de participer, il est indispensable de veiller à ce que tous les maté-riaux (conducteur et partitions) soient anonymes, afin que l’identité de l‘auteur ne soit pas reconnaissable. Le conducteur devra être pourvu d‘un code, qui ne donne aucune indication sur l‘auteur.

En annexe, le candidat joindra une enveloppe portant le même code qui contient:• nom, adresse, numéro de téléphone, courriel• curriculum vitae• photo récente (bonne qualité)• une déclaration écrite confirmant que le candidat est effectivement l‘auteur de l‘œuvre introduite et que cette œuvre n‘a pas encore été publiée ou créée. En addition, le candidat donne la permission d‘exécution et de diffusion à l‘orchestre symphonique de Homburg.

TIGHTROPE WALK

The Homburg Symphony Orchestra is proud to present the 4th Inter-national Competition for Composers in cooperation with the city of Homburg.

The subject set for this competition is „Tightrope walk“. The subject description includes all works for solo saxophone and symphonic orchestra and specifically addresses the use of a variety of musical sty-les, including jazz elements, all forms of contemporary music and free improvisation. However, the cumulated use of these different forms is not a requirement, only a possibility.The choice concerning the type of saxophone used remains with the composer, with two different saxophones (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, bass) per work being the maximum allowed.

ParticipationOnly works from composers born after January 1st, 1980 are eligible for the competition. The submitted works need to be unpublished. The level of difficulty should be consistent with the expectations of a highly ambitious amateur orchestra.Guy Goethals, professor of saxophone at the Luxembourg Conservato-ry, will take over the solo parts.

Duration: max. 8 minutesFour scores of the work in question as well as a copy of all the instru-mental parts will be submitted to the indicated address. In order to participate, it is important to carefully hide the name of the composer on the orchestral scores and the orchestral material.

Additionally, the candidate will provide a separate envelope with the following documents:• Name, address, phone number, and email address• curriculum vitae• a recent photograph• a written statement which confirms that the candidate has created the work with his/her own means and the work has not been publis- hed before. The candidate also gives his/her written approval for the work‘s performance and broadcast.

The work and the envelope have to be marked with an identic code-word.

Nach der Entscheidung durch die Jury und das Homburger Sinfonie-orchester erfolgt die Uraufführung der Werke der drei Preisträger am 22. November 2015 im Saalbau in Homburg unter der Leitung von Jonathan Kaell. Zusätzlich entscheidet das Publikum durch Abstimmung über die Vergabe des Publikumspreises im Konzert.

After the decision of the jury and the symphonic orchestra September 15th), the works of the three laureates will be premiered on November 22th, 2015 by the Homburg Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jonathan Kaell at the Saalbau in Homburg/Saar.Additionally, an audience award will be elected after the performance.

Après la délibération du jury et de l‘orchestre symphonique (mi-septembre), les œuvres des trois lauréats seront créées le 22 novembre 2015 par l‘orchestre symphonique de Homburg au Saalbau à Hom-burg sous la direction de Jonathan Kaell. Un prix du public sera également accordé pendant le concert.
