Country Life- 2 hours -

The two hour tour takes you over fertile agricultural fields and meadows alongside the river Svartá.

It is suitable for beginners, and also for those with more riding experience. Our horses tölt with you

through the wide valley of Skagafjördur, framed by the typical flat-topped mountains.

The River Delta- 3 hours -

Shortly after leaving our stables we reach the first highlight of this tour, the amazing waterfall

“Reykjafoss”. While watching it, you will soon understand why Icelanders describe it as “the

smoking falls”. As the tour name suggests, later on in the ride you will cross quite a few rivers on

your trusted companion, the Icelandic horse. In the amazing natural paradise of the river delta

Héraðsvötn you might, depending on the season, be able to watch birds hatching or pick a hand full

of crowberries whilst taking a short break.

The terrain offers the best possibilities to fully experience the gaits of the Icelandic horse,

especially the famous tölt.

Kurz nach Abritt präsentiert sich uns schon das erste Highlight dieser Tour, der beeindruckende

Wasserfall “Reykjafoss”. Bereits beim ersten Anblick wird deutlich, warum die Isländer diesen

Wasserfall als “rauchend” bezeichnen.

Wie der Name der Tour bereits erkennen lässt, gilt es später viele Flüsse zu durchqueren. In dem

einzigartigen Naturparadies des Flussdeltas Héraðsvötn können Sie je nach Jahreszeit Vögel in der

Brutzeit beobachten oder bei einer Pause eine Handvoll Krähenbeeren pflücken. Zudem bietet

dieses Gelände die besten Voraussetzungen um die verschiedenen Gangarten des Islandpferdes,

ganz besonders den Tölt, voll auszukosten.

Off we go- 1 day -

The impressive panorama of the Skagafjörður mountains will accompany the riders all day long.

During the ride you will follow the Húseyarkvisl stream and the glacial river, Héraðsvötn. You will

ride two horses during the day, so you will ride whilst leading a hand horse. Our guides will instruct

you how to do this comfortably. To ride in true Icelandic style, with a second horse at your side, is

certainly a unique and wonderful experience.

Das beeindruckende Bergpanorama des Skagafjörður begleitet uns den ganzen Tag. Wir folgen auf

unserem Ritt dem Fluss Húseyarkvisl und reiten entlang des Gletscherflusses Héraðsvötn. Im

You stay in one of our lovely cottages with a naturally heated hot tub right in front of your door. The

daily rides can be easily fitted to your riding skills. During these days you will explore the stunning

Skagafjörður region with your new friends, the Icelandic horses. In addition to the riding you will

also have time for other activities, museum visits, or discovering the surrounding area.

Skagafjörður. Over the three days you will get the feeling of being immersed in nature. Climbing

up and down narrow valleys and canyons, countless river crossings and enjoying flat tölt trails

soon creates high respect for your new friends, the Icelandic horses. These days are an

unforgettable experience filled with fun and adventure, not forgetting the time in the evenings to

relax in the hot tub after a long day in the saddle.

Sie reiten mit Handpferd entlang der wunderschönen, nahezu vergessenen Reitwege im Hinterland

If you like adventure and a bit of luxury combined, then this is the tour for you! Absolute Iceland

will unite the comforts of fully equipped accommodation, whilst venturing through the Icelandic

highlands. Specially selected meals with local ingredients will delight your taste buds. In addition

to your time on horseback you will also visit one of the local landmarks, the bird paradise, Drangey

island, which hosts thousands of puffins and other sea birds. On the boat ride back you might catch

some fish for dinner. Riding with a herd of free running horses through the magnificent Icelandic

nature will soon cast a spell on you.

We escape into the peaceful heart of the Icelandic highlands. The region north of the glacier

Hofsjökull is one of the most untouched areas of Iceland. Our escape route leads us through a

spectacular river delta before we gradually travel over grassland into higher realms. Moonlike

volcanic landscape and the panorama of Hofsjökull glacier provide a perfect backdrop. You will

ride in true Icelandic style, driving a herd of free running horses throughout your adventure. In this

the thought of an occasional night without running water doesn’t make you cringe in any way, then

this tour is for you! The service is, as always, of a very high standard throughout the tour, however,

some of the huts where we stay are very basic, but yet cosy. This is still our most demanding tour

and certainly a challenge for many of you. You will be rewarded with unforgettable impressions of

glaciers, steep canyons, barren tracts of volcanic landscapes, and lush grasslands. One thing is

certain: The Iceland horse, making this expedition possible, will have captured your heart at the

end of the tour.

Sheep Round Up- 7 days -

Become Icelandic! Take part in farmers' work and enjoy this traditional festival of Icelandic culture

and joy of life. We head into the highlands in search of sheep that need to be brought down to the

safety of the farms before the harsh Icelandic winter takes hold. We ride with a hand horse, and

there will be plenty of opportunity to help handle the sheep.











Schafabtrieb- 7 Tage -

Es ist eine alte isländische Tradition, die Schafe während der Sommerzeit in die Berge zu treiben,

um sie dort frei weiden zu lassen. Im September reiten die Bauern ins Hochland, um ihre Tiere

rechtzeitig vor dem Winter zurück ins Tal zu holen. Am letzten Tag des Abtriebes schließen wir uns

den Farmern an und helfen beim Treiben und später auch Sortieren der Schafe. Schon bald tauchern

Sie ein in ein traditionelles Fest isländischer Lebensfreude.
